Does anyone know of a contact in Havana that can set me up with accommodations and a bit of a tour guide / driver? It will be my first time in Cuba and I could use some help.

Thanks for more in depth report. This gives me much better picture of Cuba and what to expect. The biggest challenge I see will be my lack of Spanish skill.

Don't send money upfront. IMO, the best place to stay is Vedado or Miramar. Normally when I go to Havana I always buy a hotel room from here for 2 days to guarantee my stay and when I am there I try to find a casa. The cheapest hotel you can get in Vedado is around £20 a day, but there are some expensive ones, depends on what you want. In Havana there are a lot of casas where you can bring friends.

Posts: 8Some recomendations for a 3 or 4 bedroom casa in Havana
Hi Gents,
Can you all recommend a casa with pool that allows you to bring local friends? Trying to find a place on the internet has been very frustrating. Nobody gets back to you and you really don't know how accomodating the owners are to bringing guests to the casa. I'm not looking for a really cheap place either. I'd settle on a nice place for a few more $$$ as long as it was the right fit.
One guy on the internet has a place that looks good but wants me to wire the full payment to him 7 days before my arrival. He says if I want to pay cash that there would be a 5% surchage. It sounds shady to me.
Also where are the best places to rent in Havana. Vedado, Miramar, other?
Please PM or post it here for me. Your recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All,
Can anyone recommend a good casa in old Havana? The one I usually take is booked for the weekend I am looking to go. Girl friendly of course with the usual basics like A / C. Don't mind paying a bit extra. Just PM me you can help. Thanks.

Posts: 182By the way Cuba is not cheap, I go for 1 month and my budget for spending their is 6 500 Euros or 8 800 USD. This is not Thailand or the Philippines. But like I said for me it is an adventure, taking time to hunt.

Posts: 1321You miss a lot at least as for this hobby if ignore top night clubs. However, realize that the top shelf share a minimum fee with boyfriends, security etc that's why they always have got a watermark. If they leave empty there is nothing to share and no sweat. This is so to speak a top club overhead. Deal with it. Consider it like EWR or a barfine, or salida or whatever you like.
