Posts: 68I had another successful trip to Havana, this was my fourth trip to Havana. Mostly I found all of my girls near avenue 23 near La Rampa. I usually like short term so I would pay 35 to 45 CUC for girls and 5 to 10 CUC for casa for one hour. From Canada packages are cheaper so I do stay in hotel instead of casa. But Casa is available everywhere and easy to find. Cuban girls are easy to negotiate and mostly never argue about the Money. The only problem for me is Police, I feel they follow tourist all the time, as soon as I talked anyone they come and create problems for the cuban. But they will never talked to me or tell me anything. I never felt any danger from police or any cuban.

Casa living is very different from American standards so on that first trip you might have to splurge for your hotel and experiment with different casas. My first casa had its own entrance but the casa owner lived next door. I was thrilled with it until I tried another casa my third trip. I had banged and developed a friendship with girls living near the first casa but I wanted something new. I figured I could always visit the area around my first casa if need be.
My second casa made me understand what I was missing in that second casa. My second casa had a queen sized bed where the first casa had a double bed. My second casa had a tv in my bedroom and a A / see window unit where my first casa had a tv in the living room not the bedroom. My first casa had a ceiling fan in the bedroom and A / see in the living room only. Plus the second casa had a private entrance.
As you see it's a growing experience that takes time but it's worth it. The women are beautiful and make love with passion, the island is a historical museum in itself, and the people are strong and prideful.
So if you are looking for a quick hit destination, Cuba is not it. You will have less restrictions and more fun in the DR. Guys need to forget Cuba if they don't want to put in the work (read the forums past posts) and plan on making multiple visits. With each visit the island opens up a little more of herself to you.

Perhaps someone should write a FAQ guide to Havana and ask Jax to add a thread for it. That might minimize the amount of redundant noob questions. My 2 cents.

Posts: 7341. Legally, you cannot rent a house in Cuba. You can rent a room in a house.
2. Hydro, gas etc is cheap probably less than $1. There are currently shortages, so food prices are higher than normal which is generally higher on all the islands.
3. If you have not travelled into less than 1st world standards, Cuba may be a little bit of a shock for you. Example, toilets do not have the flush intensity so you end up putting toilet paper in waste basket beside you. That freaks out some people.
4. Things are changing but it still is a communist country. In a communist country, the service provider tends to be king, not the customer.
If I were in your shoes, I would heed the other advice given previously and take my friend up on his offer.

Posts: 505Listen to your Cuban friend!
You should stay at your friend's aunt house! Especially if it's your 1st time. That will make introductions faster and safer from possible blackmail by corrupt jineteras, chulos and policia who are always on the lookout and "love American eye candy" too!
But why would you come to Cuba if you "love big fake breasts like in Colombia" Cubanas are generally more slender and are not known for big breasts.
Not hard to rent if you are familiar with the area and know locals!! Nowadays you can go online for casas!! But make sure you have 2-3 reserved. Cubans need money now not later!
Hence my advice to you: accept your friend's offer and then see once there if you still want to rent solo. At least you'll have local help. In Cuba they have real people to people networks for EVERYTHING you need!
Unless you have a reason to rent solo, you should stay with a Cuban family as long as both accept terms!

Posts: 9Screw all this casa BS can I rent something in Havana?
My friend is Cuban, he visits anually and stays with family. He tells me stories of hot, horny, pretty young chicks, who love American eye candy. So I was sort of interested I love big fake breasts like in Colombia, but whatever I'll give Cuba a try.
But here is the catch, he says I can stay with him and his aunt and help her pay electricity bills and maybe food costs and small things. I said how about I get a hotel, he said it costs money to bring a girl to a hotel and most security guards will not allow it even if you bribe them. So I said why not just rent a house or a beach house for two weeks (my planned stay). He says its too dangerous the girls can rob you or call her friends to steal things from inside etc.
Is renting a house for 2 weeks really that difficult in Havana? Is it even possible to find nice beach houses?

Anyway, she'll be easy to find. Super skinny, blonde, tattoo on her finger, soft spoken (but still a royal count), speaks very good English (which is extremely rare over there). If your having problems finding her just ask one of the security.

How did you book the Tropicoco if you will never pay for something sight unseen.

1. It looks good to the immigration when you land.
2. Even if you book and pay for a casa in advance don't be surprised if you find some stranger sleeping in your room when you arrive.
Reserving a hotel for your 1st day also gives you a full day to go scout out some casas in person because the photos you see on the internet are often 10 times nicer than the place actually is. I'm a hands on kinda person, therefore I will never pay for something sight unseen.
So to answer your question, I found the most pimped out casa in the whole Guanabo / Boca Ciega area. It's owned by a Cuban American and as such, it looks like a home you would find in a Miami suburb. It has a large in-ground Pool and 7 bedrooms. Unfortunately they do not rent out individual rooms, the owner is loaded and doesn't need the money, so you will have to rent out the entire house. Which was fine with me and my friends cause the house is fantastic and we had total privacy.
