Yeah its pretty obvious. All seating outdoor. Right at the end of the street. Opposite the fortress / police station.

Cost a little more but they have the best steaks in Havana.

Good food is hard to find in Havana, so this will be a good start, I have more if you're interested.

Getting good quality cheap and quick meals in Vedado can be challenging. I found some good paladars but very few cafe style places. The food at Sofia or at the Havana Libre's cafe was awful, service slow, and the latter ridiculously over-priced.

Fortunately I found a very nice little place close to my Casa. Otra Casa. Good food, quick service and cheap. Location is a bit out of the way. At he very end of Call L by the Malecon (close to the US Embassy) . But its a nice outdoor terrace, bright and sunny with a cool breeze, and I saw some cute girls there on occasion too.

Food is nothing fancy. Breakfast, Cuban platos, sandwiches, and Pizza. Most dishes 3-5 CUC. Also very good coffee and smoothies.

Most everything I had was good. I didn't like the Pizza, but its very popular (it hast that weird mealy crust common to Cuban pizza). I'd especially recommend the fried chicken plato.

Lots of choice in a small section and pretty good food, especially fish dishes and the other items are standard so you know what you will get.

Thanks. I walked around there but it was kind of dead so did not stop for a meal. But it was a late Sunday afternoon so maybe not the busiest time. I've had American-Chinese, Thai-Chinese, and Malayan-Chinese food. I'm definitely curious about what Cuban-Chinese food tastes like.

Yeah, there was a crash just outside terminal 1 on takeoff. Plane was heading to Holguin and no reports yet as of now what caused the accident.

111 on board and 3 survivors so far.

Sad times for the people there. My sympathies to those with love ones in the crash.

Little clarification, La Rampa / Malecon. How do you approach them, what is the best way without scaring them off?

How do you tell which are most approachable / available. I always think as a gringo I stand out and with limited Spanish would be tough.

Would it be better to ask them out for a coffee / dinner and then try to ease them into nightcap at casa?

Also on a technical note I understand after the trip that cubamessenger is a great cheap way to keep in touch with them.

Since it cost them nothing assuming they are on wifi and costs us minimal outside of Cuba. Or do they prefer other apps, email, text etc.

Did you notice them all having smart phones and would it make sense to bring a couple of cells to give them as gifts.

As far as approaching La Rampa girls I try to make eye contact then say "Hola!. " If she answers back she is approachable and very likely available. Introduce yourself, ask her name, compliment her on her beauty, then ask if she wants to come to you Casa "Quieres venir a mi casa conmigo? Some will ask right away "How much?" others not. If she is not into it don'e be an asshole and move on. There are plenty of girls.

It's that simple. It would be fun to take them for a drink or dinner first but they will be reluctant to go as they can get in trouble with the police. If you want to take it a little slower ask her if she wants to come to your casa to have a drink and listen to some music?

Cubamessenger is great but not every girls uses it. Also there were some complications for me downloading it onto one of my chica's phone. Like most things in Cuba it gets complicated there is no quick fix. LOL. I was never able to get her phone working because of wifi issues (dickheads at Samsung blocked wifi for Cuba on that model phone). But there are shops where the guys hack into the phone and can solve these and other problems. The folks down there are resourceful. If you meet a girl you like and want to stay in touch with I'd take the time to make sure that cubamessenger is properly downloaded on her phone.

To get onto the internet Cubans have to go to special designated wifi hotspots which are pretty common in Havana (usually in parks or public squares). Internet is not free. If they have an account with the national company ETECSA it can be as low as 1 cuc per hour. They buy tickets (tarjetas) with a scratch off access number.

1 cuc sounds cheap to us but its pretty expensive for them. SO the girls may not be online all that often. Once nice thing about cubamessenger is that it allows you to send them messages or even call when they are not online (though it will cost you).

Not all girls have cellphones or they may have a really old one with limited access to internet. So even an old serviceable smartphone makes a great regalo for your favorite Chica. I plan to take a couple of phones to give away next trip.
