BTW, you mentioned you'll be heading down in January, so will I. In case you want to meet down there let me know. Mostly stay in la Habana for 2 weeks.
Mondo.

Posts: 61USD 150 per day sounds kind of overpriced. I went to Havana in 2007 and wasn't impressed. Now I'm forved to go to Havana because flights to other cities are cancelled. I plan to take to first bus or train to either Ciego de Avila or Holguin. USD 40 per day for an inexperienced chica beats USD 150 per day for a hardcore chica any day of the week. I will be going in January.

Real hotties but all hardcore. Most worked at Fantaxy (reopened as L&M by the way) and ask for 150 $ standard. You got to be real desperate.

Got out to Playa del Este. Nice beautiful beach. Umbrella and 2 beach lounge chairs were 6 CUC for me and my chica friend. Ordered a mojito but wasn't that good but they brought a bottle of rum and let me taste it first. I told them to add more until I said stop. There was no extra charge for that.

Check out Ostionera de San Lazara in Vedado. Also a little spot called My Rey. It has reasonable prices. They sell Cristal and Bucanero to go. On one evening I ate dinner with a Cuban family. The meal was very good. Loved it all. Enjoyed some Havana Club with them too. The locals are very helpful.

I found that you can get a good exchange rate from some taxi drivers and locals at $1 USD for 1 CUC. One time I got 500 CUP for $20 USD. I didn't use CUP much but it did come in handy sometimes. Use your networking skills to collect intel.

Saturday night it rained something fierce! The waves were crashing over the seawall and the action on the Malecon was pretty much nonexistent. Sunday morning I woke up to a marathon along the Malecon at sunrise and the police had the street blocked off as it continued to rain into Sunday.

I didn't enjoy my trip to havana at all. WiFi was difficult to get (couldn't even turn off access and lost so much money as it kept running). 1 hour per cuc adds up even you cannot log off, so it was getting a bit expensive.
Food was not good. One day you get something, the next day it's out. Many times it's out in the same day. So many things we take for granted cannot be found. So many empty stores (shelves are empty). Drug stores don't have drugs to sell to you. Stores don't open up til 10 am, and close by 5 pm. I could go on and on. Finding girls was difficult but I wasn't really trying. I walked along the malecon at night and some girls approached me discreetly but I didn't explore it.
My Airbnb host said it's not a problem for him, but it may be a problem with the police and the girl stealing from you. The apt has a camera pointing at the entrance. It's a walk up building. Host was nice and helpful.
Drinks are affordable compared to us standards. The most expensive I had was at floridita (Ernest Hemingway visited the place or something) so it got famous. I still don't understand why the drink is special relative to what you can get elsewhere. The place was packed.
I did have company with a lady from SA. She's nice but a bit inexperienced.
I visited during their 500 year anniversary, so for a couple of days they were dancing and celebrating on the streets. It will continue throughout the month of November. Many places are under renovation, so I couldn't visit them. What a bummer.
I'm sorry if there are any incomplete thoughts as I'm writing from my cell phone and don't want to forget anything I experienced while visiting Havana.

Posts: 34Thanks Steve for your report.
Just as a general suggestion, I think we should really limit naming establishments with girls. These places are under constant watch and can be closed down at any moment for illegal activity. I think we'the all be better off by PM'ing each other the names of places. Just an IMO.
