I just heard from my girl in Santiago and the internet is not a priority at this moment. She had no phone and hasn't answered my email for about 3 months. The friend basically would relay any further messages. Food, clothes and basic necessities are the priority now. I just got back from Cuba and was forced to spend two days in Havana because of the new flight restrictions. In Havana, I had a taxi driver try to get me some action. He said that they were indeed fining tourist for participating in sex tourism. What he presented to me were may fives. I gave him a 10 for his trouble and decided that it wasn't worth the bother. Places in the province of Holguin outside the capital were another matter. I met an 18 with the body of a ballerina on Cupid that lives in Baguano. I've been to piano bar one time and it was not a place I'the wana stay at. There was less than a handful of girls and the quality wasn't that great. Mind you, it was around 12:30-1 am and not 2-3 am.

I much prefer the Miramar side of town for the action.

Overall though, they clubs are a generally quieter these days. Apparently there's been some police talks with the owners of certain clubs and they've been told they need to cut down the amount of working girls they let in. I've confirmed this with a number of girls also. Many of which won't be allowed inside certain clubs on their own.

Even 6 months ago, you could go to club any day of the week and it would be rather busy. Doesn't seem like that anymore, at least for now.

It may be Hola Habana and Saltzucar (which are right next to each other and both opened after Fantaxy).

My experience is Hola Habana tends to be empty / dead.

Saltzucar has potential and is probably one of the busier clubs in Havana now.

So I decided to go to Cuba last minute and the only place was varadero. I was hoping to get a bus from there to Holguin where I have been many time and have lots of fun. Unfortunately there were no buses going there from varadero so I took a taxi to Matanzas for $20. When I went to the bus station next day to book a ticket to Holguin there was nothing available for 3 days. It's a 12 hour ride and I was to be departing varadero 5 days later so it didn't make sense spending 24 hours on a bus round-trip for only one day in Holguin. I decided to stay at Matanzas. Found a casa, checked in my luggage and went to the river where there are a few bars and restaurants. Beautiful women everywhere but money contact and nothing. After a few beers I went to the only club in town called Atenas. It was packed. Took me an hour to get in. Again beautiful women everywhere but not a single dance or conversation. Spoke to another young tourist and he told me the same thing. Went there 2 more nights and again didn't score. Tried to grab a few girl's hands but they kinda gently pushed me away. WTF? I've been to Cuba more than 25 times and never had this kind of experience. I felt like I'm in Toronto, Canada! I ended up desperately needing the help of my casa owner whom he introduced me to his wife's distant relative. Got a BBBJ after some small talk but then when unpaid her 20 cucs she demanded 40. Tells me she needs rent money and that she's not a prostitute. Told her she got at least half and what would she have done if she didn't saw me. Eventually paid her another 10. Met another girl via a street hustler and paid her 20 and she was happy. On Monday headed to Havana for $6 with 4 other Cubans in a private car. After I checked in to the casa I went to Obispo and walked around downtown Havana. Got no attention from any chicas. Night time I went to la rampa. Dead..

This would be a huge mistake on the governments behalf -- Tourism is the lifeblood of the Cuban economy.

They will not target real tourists, just mongers.

And the lifeblood of the Cuban economy is not tourism (hotels are at less than 15% occupancy) but the money Cubans send from outside, dirty money laundering and leeching anyone who gives them money. They are experts at surviving!

Sangri La. Dead. LM dead. Q'Bola. Dead. Sangri La had 4 girls but 2 were old and 2 were with boyfriends. Q'Bola had a few chicas but they never made any eye contact or show interest. Apparently Havana is dead on Mondays. Even casa de la musica Galeano was closed. Came back to Obispo at 2 am, found a girl walking with her friend. Got a Cuban hustler to talk to her for me. I really think that you can have more success but time can limit this. If you can get into the inner workings of the city it can be very beneficial. Trustworthy locals can be of great help and the culture can be more understood. Sounds like you have the adventure spirit and I think that you can navigate yourself to more opportunities.
