    Guanabo / Habana train

    Hey,

Just came across this article on the Cuban press today. Thought I post it for those who are early risers and enjoy a trip to the beach.

Starting this coming Tuesday there will be train service between La Habana and Guanabo daily except on Mondays.

It mentions the train leaves early morning (for me) 8:17 am and returns at 6:05 pm, so for those who monger in La Habana and want to have a day in Playas del Este / Guanabo beaches this is an excellent and very cheap option.

BTW, the fare is 1 CUP!, which means like. 05 cents.

    Mondo.

    Enlace Gas (facultativa).

    Arenal (obligatoria).

    Apeadero Crucero de Guanabacoa (facultativo).

    Apeadero Naland (facultativo).

Apeadero Cementerio de LOS Judos (facultativa).

    Cambute (obligatoria).

    Apeadero Las Playas (facultativa).

    Apeadero Corona (facultativa).

Enlace Ramal Playas del Este (facultativa).

I think you are referring to LOS Nardos which sits as you say across the Capitol building and it's on the 3rd floor. There are 2 other restaurants in the same building.

Like you say excellent food there and their prices are quite reasonable.

Usually they have a piano playing, last time I visited they had piano and violin, as you prolly know music quality in Cuba is very good.

    Enjoy.

That seems like the name of the spot, but the building I am referring to has 5 floors, with 5 restaurants in it.

    LOS Nardos

As far as the grub, there are plenty of great places to eat, and for a very good price. A perfect example would be the restaurant across the street from the capital, with 5 floors, and 5 different choices of what type if cuisine a person is in the mood for. I can't remember the name of the place, but can't be missed, because there's always a line out front to get in. That's just 1 of many options, and it has 5 choices in 1 building.

Like people say, haters going to hate, and let them, so those prices of the goods will remain low, and not escalate like point and click, no skills having monger destination Sosua has.

Yes, I was being slightly sarcastic with my comment last night, apologies, didn't mean to offend anyone. Yes, you can find some good food in Cuba.

In my opinion, hands down the best food (Steak, Wine, etc.) can be found at Palador Decameron. The best Cuban food can be found at LOS Amigos.

I've been to Cuba 9 times over the last three years and spent almost a year in the country (cumulative). About 50% of that time I spent outside of Havana out in the campo. Good food is very difficult to find out in the campo, unless you like pig and rice every single day.

I'll attach a few pics of some of the restaurants I have been to, and a couple of my favorite chica.

Too many of us have traveled to countries where its legal, even if not, it was easy to get our hands on whatever or whoever we pleased. This is true communism stuck in the 50's, I've been to more modernized communist countries, and its nothing as strict or closed off as Cuba.

The Malecon is well and alive, every night especially on weekends it looks like some sort of festival is taking place, meanwhile everyone is just chilling, drinking their rum or cristal, listening to music and enjoying the scene. Many good nights started and ended on that strip, many chicas willing to play.

Along with the delicious food, cigars, live jazz and architecture, I just can't get enough of this place. Every trip I take it gets better. Planning to go again before the year is over.

Sosua has spoiled many of us, especially being so convenient and close to the states. Altogether I'm hoping for less tourism in Cuba, let the prices drop some in Havana, make them want our business with some effort, resulting in more cake for me!

I spent a month in Cuba and rarely, hardly ever did I find delicious food. Finding good food in Havana was the hardest thing. Girls who play super easy, but delicious food? I can only think two places in Old Havana where I enjoyed the food. Everywhere else, it was too salty and chicken had the weirdest texture. Food for me was a constant displeasure.

Where do you find great food in Havana (Old Havana, Centro, or La Rampa)?
