Many thanks, but I'm sitting in the transtur tourist bus right now which goes to playa del este from parque central about every hour for 5€.

Pre covid I used to take a bus from Havana out there. It was the local bus and cost was almost nothing, but you have to ask to find out where to catch it etc. Not everyone is happy if they know you are a foreigner and you use the buses because they are heavily subsidized and cost at the time was less than a peso. And service was not the priority.

Does anybody know how to go to Guanabo playa del este from Havanna with public transport or any other way then taxi?

Pre covid I used to take a bus from Havana out there. It was the local bus and cost was almost nothing, but you have to ask to find out where to catch it etc. Not everyone is happy if they know you are a foreigner and you use the buses because they are heavily subsidized and cost at the time was less than a peso. I got a private car for $20 US from Vedado to Guanabo. Guaguas look incredibly overcrowded, slow and irregular.

My trip is coming up very soon and I'm trying to find a FULLY independent and private casa particular in Vedado but almost every listing says the owner is somewhere on or near the property.

What I'm looking for is to pay the owner and then be completely independent and on my own.

Where are these private independent Casa's and how does one book / rent them? (People talk about them all the time but I don't see them?

The 175 CUC to the dollar is the part that is a surprise to me. Last I heard was around 100, and of course the official rate of 25 or 26 I guess is irrelevant.

She wasn't that far from the true, at 175 CUC to the dollar (you can get better) it comes around $17. Things are very expensive in Cuba right now and the prices keep going up. Anyway, that would be the salary most people get there for a month of work, so I think that 4,000 CUC for a few hours wouldn't be that bad.

Not really a scam, she's playing the long game. The US is letting in 30,000 migrants a month, but they need a gringo sponsor. She desperately wants out, and knows her long term prospects are much better if you see her as a girlfriend, not a working girl. Even if you don't bring her to the US, she's hoping you'll become attached enough to send her money and support her.

But be careful, the moment she steps across the border, all bets are off. You have served your purpose.

Have fun, but don't fall in love. She will convince you that you are the love of her life, (and it only took two days to realize this LOL) but she only sees you as a wallet and a golden ticket.
