    More on Cars

You can rent cars from some locals who happen to have one, but you have to know the right people. I had a friend who rented a fairly modern taxi-like car, but she would not negotiate and the price was barely cheaper than the state-owned car rental agencies. It is not cheap in general and compared to many other countries, but if you want a car, rest assured the roads are fairly good and the country is safe, which makes navigating on wheels that much nicer.

    Car Rental

I've been travelling to Havana since 2002. Many things have changed since I first came. My fellow mongers and I used to always rent cars and drive along the Malecon and 5th Ave; basically went 'shopping' for Chicas as we drove by. There were so many chicas just hanging by the side of the road, waiving for a lift, etc. No more or I should say rarely.

Times have changed and as a seasoned traveler to Havana, I would definitely not recommend driving a car. With insurance costs, which are mandatory you are looking at 100 CUC per day. You are much better off hiring a Driver, who speaks Engish for about 135 CUC for the same time; they can also arrange Casas and Restaurants and they know the clubs and bars to take you to.

Also with the current gas shortage you can wait hours and hours to refill.

One of many problems you could face by driving is accidents. Whether they are your fault or not or whether you cause serious damage, injury or death, you may be jailed awaiting trial (jail in Cuba is a lot different then jail anywhere else). Street signs and speed limits are hard to follow and if you get pulled over it could well be be a huge hassle, especially if you are not fluent in Spanish or if you don't know the laws and customs.

    Stay safe my friends.

The chicas I met in Santa Clara didn't like bars and clubs. All three were "homebodies", and no I didn't say homely. They liked to play chess, watch shows from "El Paquete", cook and things like that. They were pretty and provided great sex, but didn't really want to go anywhere. The owner of the casa knew two of them and he said that one of those chicas was offered to go "clubbing" with one of his previous guests and she turned him down. The one that liked to play chess was barely 18 and she made me ask her mother if it was OK for her to spend the night in my room. She really wanted by old laptop and agreed to spend a week with me after her mother OKed it. I made it very clear to that chica that she only got the laptop if she and I had sex twice each day. She kept her side of the bargain. Santa Clara seems to be very old fashioned in some ways.

    Hey Steve,

I'll take it you are from the USA, if that's the case car rental in Cuba is not what one is used here in the states. I just came back from Fla and when I landed I had my rental waiting for me with no hassles, Cuba is quite an ordeal, I know I've been thru it. I try to rent at the airport since when I leave I also return the rental there, it saves me the taxi fare to and from the city.

First off you need cash if you renting in Cuba since CC are not good if they're US issued, 2nd there is a very limited supply of cars unless you step up to the luxury class, I. E. Mercedes, Audis etc and those will set you back quite a bit.

Now the good part, cars are a chica's magnet in Cuba and you literally can pick up chicas everywhere in la Habana, specially when they leave work or school and are hitchhiking, yes lots of people hitchhike in Cuba, specially now since they're having fuel shortages.

I've tried booking online here and have not been successful, so, I just try my luck when I land and go across the terminal since there are some rental places there and 2 trips back I lucked out but last time not so much.

There are some travel agencies that do rentals here, specially in the SoFla area. I've talked to them recently trying to secure a rental for my upcoming trip and was not able so far to book one. Seems like they price cars according to season (high or low).

If you go this route, make sure to pay with a credit card, they told me sometimes the rental doesn't happen on the Cuban end. Paying with a CC you have something to fall back on to get your $$"s back.

One last thing, remember driving in Cuba is quite different than here, people jaywalk all over the place but again when in Cuba like the saying goes, do like the Cubans do. I've never had an issue driving there and I rent every chance I get since I hate having to deal with the taxi drivers there.

    Mondo.

ps Unless you are familiar with la Habana or the rest of the island make sure you download an offline GPS app to your phone before you go. Finding your way around is helpful with such a app.

Honestly, renting a car on Cuba is still not a good idea. To expensive (at least around 80 usd a day) and if you don't want to travel the whole island in like one or two weeks it simply does not make sense in my opinion. If you want to go to playa del Este there is a transtur bus leaving every 20 minutes in front of hotel Inglaterra. Return ticket is 5 cuc. If you still want to rent a car other recommendable destinations are vinales, Cienfuegos and Trinidad. All the best.

I've been meaning to visit Caibarien one of these days, check out this little hot chica from Caibarien. This video was posted a couple years ago, so she should be in her prime time.

That could be a little bit misleading, people might get the impression that you could "point and click" everywhere in the Dominican Republic, it is not so. There are certain areas where you could do that: the strip in Sosua, Blackbeard, Duarte in Boca Chica, and maybe other little venues, but most Dominicanas are not into selling pussy, even when some foreigners have that idea and end up striking and giving foreigners a bad name. Fortunately I'm Cuban so I'm not affected by what they do.

In Cuba the hardest part is not to find women but to find a place to take them. Women there want to fly under the radar of the police, otherwise, once the police detect they're sleeping with tourists, they blackmail them into opening their legs for them for free.

Somebody said it's hard to get laid in Havana? LOL. Different strokes for different folks as far as "point and click," but difficult it is not.

Great post Adinga. I've been all over the island usually with Grownman as my wingman and we have had a ball. Grownmans specializes in reading people and making connections and tapping into the work girls through Cuban connections. I on the other hand like to act like a foreigner looking for a future home and tapping into the non pros. Grownman likes quantity and I like quality but it works perfectly for both of us.

Girls are still there and they love to fuck. I've had one girl from the internet and she wasn't bad but it just doesn't excite me knowing girls that frequent Americans on the internet. I like girls that have an American curiosity and possibly haven't been with any Americans like the girls in Santiago. I had several girls from Santiago tell me I was their first American and I believe it because we didn't see any Americans in Santiago. Just remember most girls outside of Havana and in the provinces are curious to fuck Americans so make sure your fuck game is up to par to not disappoint the beautiful, horny Cubanas.

Hooking up with Cuban women over the internet never works unless they've been recommended by a reliable source.

The best advice I can give you is to rent a car and drive across the Island from Santiago to Havana and interview girls from the provinces.

The point and click days of easy pussy ended 15 years ago.
So true. And that's when I started going down there. 15-20 years ago. Miss that!
