The thing that could shut down US-Cuba travel

    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/ar...ns_135002.html

I have been aware of this for a while. Whatever the Cubans are doing has the potential to take us back to a no travel policy.

Yeah, that's a great suggestion. I usually hit the 99 c stores locally and buy a bunch of them, great buy for the price. People will really appreciate it when you gift them a pair of glasses. Buy several magnifications. Also, if you have old glasses with good frames, those are also good to take down.

BTW, just a heads up for all you pervs, cubanas love chewing gum, so hit Costco and buy one of their big boxes of gum and when you head out take a few packs with you. Great for breaking the ice and you'll be a big hit on the Malecon. LOL.

    Mondo.
Thanks for the tip on gum. We don't have a Costco and I don't chew gum or eat sweets, so I am open to any suggestions for gum or candy? Because of eyesight progression, I have pairs for just about every eyeglass strength form 1. 0 to 3. 0. If you ever have vision problems, you know how life changing it is to be able to see clearly or at least be able to recognize things. On the way to lunch today, we passed a high end neighborhood Goodwill Store. Stopped in after lunch and I picked up three children's / teenager's baseball gloves for less than $10 total. I know gloves aren't a true need, but baseball is a Cuban national past time. They also had a girls glove, but I wasn't sure whether the females play ball. I am also going to order some pens with the scented ink. Again not a need, but the little pleasures like that can help take someone's mind off their troubles. I am concentrating on things that are lightweight like aspirin, toothbrushes, clothes and possibly shoes. Borrowing from another poster, I may put together little bags of goodies. I will enjoy giving out the stuff more than the people will enjoy receiving them. Mondo, I will leave room in my luggage for items listed in your update report. And if you find out specific organizations, agencies or people to take stuff to, that would be great.

Before the etiquette police post, we probably should move these type of discussions to the general forum.

Not to worry, It'll be just fine. I just got thru watching some news and most of la Habana will be up and running prolly by this weekend. There will be some hiccups here and there but as a general rule most everything will be back to normal.

Now if you are talking about the Cayos on the northern coast that's going to take sometime to get it running back to normal but almost all of us mongers never go to these places.

BTW, I will be arriving on the 27th, so when I come back I'll post and up to date report of the situation there.

I am finding it hard to believe all is normal.
I knew when Jakarta was hit by severe rainstorms traffic was horrendous, and in the Philippines a monsoon on its way caused us to leave creating havoc to the city. Lastly, a massive Please advise if anyone, especially with boots on the ground or a friend on the ground can report if all is okay.

Yes, absolutely. I gave away my own personal reading glasses the last time I was there, I had 2 pair and gave them both to my chicas parents, they were very grateful.

Here's a pic I found from way back, not my pic but a beautiful Cuban girl.

I suspect the Cubans will need hard cold cash most of all.

If anyone knows of things the Cubans need specific to the effects of the Hurricane or a link to such a list, please post. I am happy to bring some stuff and make my support of the Cuban people travel designation 100% legitimate.
