I have rented from Rex a while back for two days. Send them email, they were very responsive.

3. why nobody mentions renting from AirBnb? There seem to be quite a few choices on Airbnb.

Going to AirBnb is like using a dating site while Cuba, sort of. Once there you can check casas, talk to the owners, get a feel for the neighbourhood, close by food option etc.

4. are non-US debit cards working in Cuba or is better to bring USD? (I am talking about EU, non-US issued cards). Are you getting bad rate doing cash withdrawals though?

I would add a further point about having your own casa, they come into their own if you are more a monger who likes going to the late night venues, meeting a chica, then jumping in a taxi and taking her back to your apartment.

The chicas in the clubs are more expensive, better looking on average, they will often start with at $100 but will drop to $60. Back in your casa you are in control, just lock away your valuables.

I learned a long time ago from other peoples failures that it is not a good idea to move any foreign girl to America for marriage. Its best to move / visit their country and enjoy the fruit there. Like others wrote, finding another casa is super easy. Walk two blocks you will see one another willing to take you in.

You need to think about why your casa owner is not allowing you to take the chica in. Being with a chica is not illegal, not socially taboo in Cuba, so why? Well, some of them don't want to be seen as catering to mongers. That is a minority. Is there another reason? Is the chica you are taking has ID, did she steal anything from another guy stayed in the casa, did she have a fight with casa owners, does she get drunk and make a scene while leaving, is she hanging out with trouble characters, did policia came to the casa and asked about this chica before, is your casa owner getting a cut from chicas and this one is not going to give them, is she a negra (once a casa lady asked me not to bring in negras, every time I would bring in, her face will be fixed to the tv, would not even look at us).

To me casa owners are there to secure you from chicas and general trouble, they can also be greedy and will do anything to get into your wallet. So, pay attention to their actions, it would be worth it.

Most chicas I not take back to my casa in Vedado. I find most chicas on the streets around Centro and all along the Malecon.

They will take you to a short time casa, usual cost is 10 CUC. Most girls around centro area can be had for 30 CUC.

Problem is you don't know what state the casa is in until you arrive. Some were really cool, others not so. You don't have control.

Some had en-suite shower which you want. Others not, some had clean linen, others not.

I had some great experiences around centro. Especially fucking two sisters doggy on the bed and only using one condom.

Advantage of not taking them back to your casa is don't know were you live and can't steal anything.

I took one chica back to my casa from La Rampa in Vedado, After she had left I had no more electric shaver.

Hey NZS,

If you are stuck with your casa already just rent a room nearby for any action when you need it.

Here is what you do, first off, unless you have someone's recommend a place, google "casa particular" there are tons of sites which you can explore at your leisure.

I am putting a link from one of those, not necessarily recommending it just so you can get familiar with sites that rent.

If you browse to some of these sites usually they'll specify "guest friendly" meaning you can bring a "friend" with you. Some of these casas will ask your friend for ID, others don't.

One caveat, some of the casas will overbook so be aware and have a backup just in case.

These "changes" have been going on for years now. The "crackdowns" started around 2000. The natives fleeing Cuba started 60+ years ago. But, I was just in Havana the last 10 days of November and IMO it was as good as I've seen it since the 90's. My time in Havana was followed by a week in Medellin and IMO the quality I ran into in Havana was easily superior (and that says a lot). Beautiful tall, thin, shapely Mulattas. Not a one with silicone tits or ass.

Yeah if you're searching on la Rampa, many of the chicas will be petrified of the police. However, go a few blocks away, and they will be much more friendly. Get a casa particular in Centro Habana and you'll have no trouble with chicas talking to you.

Admittedly, Cuba is not for the point-and-click monger. Those folks will be better off in Colombia, the DR, etc. However, IMO, Cuba still is a worthwhile monger/travel destination.

Also, when we were there we heard that a lot of the chicas who tried to escape through Ecuador were denied access to neighbouring countries as well as not being welcome there. As they didn't want to come back to face the gauntlet in Cuba they were stuck in limbo. Apparently, I heard there were riots in Ecuador made up of frustrated Cubans.

The issue is less Ecuador than Nicaragua. Nicaragua closed its borderd for Cubans and even revoked issued visas without refunding the tickets many already bought. Many Cubans are camping in front of the embassy in Havana and they say hundreds are waiting in Costa Rica at the border of Nicaragua to enter the country on their way north. The issue is that the South American countries worry that the Cubans will lose the current right to stay in the US under the Cuban Adjustment Act soon because of the mew relationship between the US & Cuba.

Sad but true, if the way through South America is blocked there will be more balseros (fugitives on rafts).

I emailed a chica I have known for 2 years and have been with on 3 trips to Havana about problems I read recently here. She replied today and said no problem if you tell police chica is your fiance. She is one of only 2 chicas I have known who would walk on the main streets with me in el centro and viego Havana. She always told me remember my birthday and my mother and father name because that is what the police will ask you to confirm she is your fiance.

Of course that is a old trick that may work (the police of course know about this trick, they are not stupid). However that doesnt explain why normal packed places with chicas are almost empty now. Streets, beaches, normal hangouts etc. Maybe your chica didn't notice this as much. It is because many have fled the country and those who are left are afraid. Before it was no problem for Havana chicas in Havana, now the police take them also. I am not saying its impossible, Havana is still worth a visit. But there have been some changes the last year. Specially after the summer.
