I went via Dallas and Cancun.

-Exchanged dollars to Euros in Dallas airport to save on the exchange rate.

-Bought Cuban Visa card at Cubana airline counter in Cancun. Dollars ok. $25.

-In Cancun you depart out of terminal 2. If running short on time, hike it. Terminal shuttle is very slow!

-MX immigration tax at Cubana airlines counter. 315 pesos!? This was news to me. A hustle?

-Immigration experience in Havana. Alert flag placed on anyone that is passport stamped in Dallas due to Ebola scare. They wanted to take me to the hospital and do blood work! I got mad and they let me go but a nurse visited me at my apartment twice to take my temperature during the week. No, she wasn't cute.

-US passport not stamped upon entry into Cuba.

-Exchanging money: Be sure to ask for small cuc bills or they will give you $50 cuc notes that are hard to break.

-Cuba accommodation.com apartment I booked didn't match pictures. Owner held Cuban Visa card and did not return the next day as promised. Probably suspected I would roll out. Definite hustle there. Best to book multiple apartments and have taxi wait outside, if you go that route. Or like most of you said, hotel the first night and sacrifice the first day looking around. I didn't want to make that sacrifice and paid for it.

-My taxi driver was Juan Miguel and his English was good enough. Contact me for info.

-Met local chicas thru Badoo and took local taxis. Unreal how cheap it is. Chica told me to "shut up and not say anything in the taxi" ha!

-La Rampa street options are strong, learn your spanish and don't be afraid to tell them to speak slowly. Ha!

-Did work on badoo with a few nights of fun on my own. Got pestered by police when I was with my Mulata friend outside Jazz cafe. That was entertaining.

-I was happy I brought individually wrapped wet wipes as soap is rare in a lot of restrooms. Should have brought a small shampoo, toilet paper, and a good towel for showers. My apartment was bare!

-WiFi in Hotel Nacional is in the business center upstairs and its $7/ hour.

-Panty lines are a huge problem here! Please bring thongs as gifts for the ladies! Total buzz kill! LOL!

-Sunday's seemed like gay night everywhere. I walked through the capitol area at night with a Chica friend and I'm grateful she was with me! Ha!

-As mentioned before, hustlers run deep. Seems like most opened with "what time is it? I stopped wearing a watch on the second day. Or if you really want to have fun. Tell them the time but don't stop walking. It's a blast and confuses them. And remember, even if a hustler says they don't want money, they will eventually ask for it. Many will ask to buy them a drink first. I got hustled twice, outside the apartment disappointment. But one at least made an extreme effort helping me find a SIM card and assisted with helping me buy the toiletries I needed. The other gave me a good tour of his dance studio and a Cuban music history lesson. Worth the two drinks I bought him, IMO.

-Overall, the weekends in mid Oct were hopping. Clubs and street. The week was quiet. Great first trip! I shall return with friends. Had 3 days of sun and 4 days of clouds, drizzle and rain.

-Places I visited during the week, not weekends.

Sangri la. Definitely not near hotel Melia Cohiba. Unless there are two. Amazing non pro talent, bring your A game, but off the grid.

La Maison. Dead during the week. Bartender asleep behind counter LOL.

Casa de musica (Miramar). Surprised it was in a neighborhood. Ha! These women (all 8's ,9's and 10's IMO) are passive compared to Argentinians! And always remember, don't let them win the staring contest! Whoever looks away first loses the upper hand. Ha! During the week, peak hours are 12-2 am. Have your Chica picked around 1 am. $15 cover to get in. Chicas sitting in the back. They dance during the performance breaks. Good opportunity to say Hello,. I met a gorgeous 22 year old that loved dancing. We hit it off and she didn't even discuss rates or anything. Had a great time at my apartment and I dictated the amount by giving what I thought was fair. Service was amazing!

Misc.

-Downloaded and used the Jibbigo translate app. You can download specific language conversions that do not need Internet service. I had two phones going. One with the app and an unlocked phone I bought online.

-Cell phone worked out good. A lot of chicas will call from a land line after you text them.

-When converting your money back, do so in the arrival area if you can, not the departure level. Better rates. More of the Cuban hustle. It's a pain no matter where you do it. If you're flying back into Cancun, they do not exchange Cuban pesos there.

-Don't forget to pay your $25 airport tax before going into the immigration line.

-At immigration the agent actually asked me if I wanted my passport stamped. I opted out. That came as a surprise.

Preface.

First trip report, I've been lurking around for a while and wanted to thank everyone for sharing their valuable experiences and info, probably read hundreds of pages. Been to Cuba 2 x both recently, and both times HAV / Guanabo so this is somewhat of a dual report.

Day 1.

In typical Cuban fashion, we pre booked a casa and about an hour before our flight the booking agent emails us to say that some shit happened and the casa lost its license to rent, that or the incumbents wanted to stay a few more days. Ok no problema, es Cuba they say. Land, breeze thru customs, booking agency had a taxi waiting for us – HAV please, lets find some casa – chicas that work at the airport are hot, it's a nice sample of what's to come. We filled out the first casa on the immigration papers. Money changer (CADECA, cambio de moneda) both inside and out – last time I was here they only let me change $100, but this time ok to change more.

See 1, no good, 2, no good, 3 ok is good – 2 bedroom independent casa, separate entrance, fairly clean in old HAV – (pay cab 25 cuc -maybe too much but mi poco espanol and they know you kind of need a ride). Throw the luggage in, off to Dos Gardenias. Place is pretty good some good music, 5 cuc entrance, 2 rooms on the upper level. On the right seemed like local rich kid hangout. Left, better layout and bigger, about 20 chicas in total. Tall Blanca asks for a light, pretty nice looking. Aggressive on me for at least an hour. Not so much choice and I'm tired. Her friend wants me to take both. I say I want her friend solo – ha she gets mad – ciao. Amigo taxi drivers rip us off and we have to pay for the girls. 65 for couple hours. Not bad.

Day 2.

Check out the scene. Restaurant and small grocery store steps away. CADECA about 5 blocks, Hotel Parque (internet access on the 2nd floor 8 cuc for 1 HR by the minute) and hotel square about 10-12 min walk. LOS Nardos maybe a block or two from the square good restaurant. Call a recommended tour guide, we rented a 1919 oldmobile convertible took the HAV tour, expensive 20 cuc each – way overpaid but mi amigo is first time in HAV.

Tour guide is a nice guy but we know what he's about. He tells us he will take us out tonight, ok. We say, local bar, no pro club.

Takes us to Casa de la Musica Havana not Miramar, knew it was a pure pro club but had never been. 10 cuc entry, we pay for him too. Live really good music and vibe. I love the dancing it is overtly sexual. Lots of harassment from hardcore pros – no gracias. Petite olive skin, light brown hair, light hazel eyes is a banger. My friend and I party with her and her friend for a while both are very sweet, my girl from Camaguey. Lots of good looking chicas, but pros turn me off a bit at least the hardcore ones. They come to our house and hangout for about 4 hours, cool girls. 60 cuc – seems to be the going rate, for me and my friend at least. Now that I think back we could probably get it down a bit more – remember for next time.

Day 3.

Explore the city some more. Bike taxis are pretty handy as the streets of old HAV look similar to me. At night, check out Malecon – don't really see the appeal here it's mostly just kids hanging out near the water front. Check Salon Rojo – jineteras immediately on us two chicas are holding our hands asking us to go in together. You mean I pay for you. Haha no thanks. Smoking hot too, like slimmer version of Kim Kardashian. Hang out on the patio with all the lights on it. Wasn't feeling Salon Rojo so back to Dos Gardenias. Day 4.

Spending a bit over budget in Hav so over to Guanabo. 20 km east of hav 10 cuc taxi takes about 20 mins. Tour guide says he'll show us 5 casas with piscina. Must have seen 7 or 8, all with pool before we settled near the centre of town which was 2 houses down from where I stayed last time. I visit my old casa to say Hello, and remember the owner wanting advil so gave him that. 30 cuc each per night for nice independent 2 bedroom house, cool air condition, decently big above ground pool and a 2 min walk to Guanamir and 5 min walk to Guanabo club. We had them cook dinner a few times and was very good. 10 cuc for breakfast and dinner. We give the tour guide 20 cuc and send him on his way.

Mon-Tues. Guanamir is closed so off to Guanabo club. Ha I see some of the same chicas I saw when I was there a few months earlier. Run into one that I did multiple sessions with, buy her a drink and chat for a while. Mi tu casa? She asks. No esta noche amor, ha not happy. Quite a lot of people and live show with singing and dancing can get old but not bad. Wasn't really feeling anything. 3 approach, friendly, they want to dance. Quiet girl grabs my hand leads me over to the corner of the club and starts getting pretty dirty. Make out sessions and grinding hard.
