You see people posting the same things in every country and I happen to live in a mongering destination as well. One thing I have learned is what one man pays never effects what I pay.

Also, people need to stop with going overboard with their criticism and nitpicking. Uk444 read the forum, asked some questions in advance and had a great time in Cuba (iPhone theft notwithstanding). He even took the trouble to come back and report, which we all know a lot of people who read this forum don't bother to do.

Yet it seems there are some self appointed Cuba experts here who keep on jumping on posters, criticizing their experiences and insulting them as old, fat and ugly. We went through this whole exercise a few months ago (June 2013) when I posted reports on my nights in Havana, and some other posters defended me then. A few more thoughts from me.

-The man said he had to work, and could not spend a lot of time hunting and bargaining. Furthermore, if his work put him up at the Hotel Saratoga then good for him (And someone still saw it fit to lecture uk444 on economics 101?).

- He overpaid and admitted it, no need to pile on.

-There are some travelers who are NOT in a competition to see who fucks the most Cubanas for the least amount of cash.

-There is no one size fits all experience in Cuba. So enough with the complaints about overpaying, economics 101, fucking up the market etc.

Guys have a point about guys over-paying and fucking up the market, but the poster was honest enough to admit his mistakes. For this he gets a pass from me.

I think finding the correct casa particulares is the key to success. Luckily I have the perfect one for me. When I was staying at the Iglatera my first visit, my girl and me spent the afternoon going around looking at places in Havana el centro. They are easy to spot because they have signs out front. A few had private entrances that I was looking for. I actually had an older gentleman run up to me saying his sister had a private apartment 5 minutes away. It was perfect. Private entrance, private bath, phone, ac, kitchen and entertainment system. It was 30 per night. I called two days before my second trip and she was thrilled that I was coming.

Now here is the fun part. Sometimes I would sit outside on the street sipping a krystal beer, people watching. Little did I know that I was the one being watched. The first couple days I had my girl with me all time until I tired of her. When I told her I needed some space and I would call her in a few days, she said "you don't even see all these vultures circling and started crying". I had no idea until later that night.

I went out alone to Calle 23, then Duberville, and finished at Casa de Musica. Guys if you don't know these spots you should. Anyway as I turn the street to my casa at 2am I see three pretty girls sitting on their stoop talking. One calls me over and asks if I have a cigarette, I say no. Then she starts small talk. She asks if I want company, and I say no. My stupid ass still thinks that I'm being sneaky and no one knows me or where I'm staying. I go home and get in bed. After 10 minutes my conscious made me get up and go back outside. No one was there but one little kid I saw playing soccer in the street earlier. As I come out he leaves the stoop and dashes in the building as I look up the street. One minute later the girl comes out.

This became a regular routine for the next three nights. I would spend the day with my girl and go out alone every night. When I came home every night she was on her stoop waiting.

Then the owner of the casa started having this fine 19yo hanging out. She was a university student. She was squeezed into the rotation as my main girl was demoted. Now I'm catching on. As I walk around the neighborhood I know people are watching even though they don't stare. When I would sit out front sipping my beer a steady stream of beautiful girls would walk by as if they had been waiting for me to come out.

My point is once you get your own casa, people will notice you. Pussy will be easily available. As I look back after each trip I always reflect on all the pussy I couldn't get to in Cuba. I always leave Cuba feeling that its so much that I missed out on even though I had a ball in Cuba.

From here, I booked a one bedroom private apartment in Vedado for just $20 a day. Very nice and close to everything. I did not go the tourist nightclub. I usually pick the girl I like that walk on the street and take her to some local nightclub in Vedado. Usually they ask for $50 and settle for $40 all night. Except on my last night, I went to Dos Gardenais where beer and cuba libre both are 2cuc. Lots of eye candies in this place and this place only close at 6 in the morning. I waited until I get the right mood to click in and this was around 2am this nice black girl started to whine on me and I did not say anything and brought her a beer for her. All of the sudden, her white friend took her phone and type 70 and told for both of us. I was bit of shock and to verify I ask them 35 and 35 and she said yes. That time I was in heaven brought them drink and we were dancing crazy on the floor. I think we were the center of attraction that night. Yeah once my mood click in, I like to dance crazy with the girls. Later I took them to my casa and banged them. They left only 9 in the morning and that was my deal. Altogether I had so much fun in his trip and I never paid any girls more than 40cuc.

Tips: Please, before you bring your girl, lock up all your staff including all your toilet stuff. They will take your soap, paste and shampoo. Also have some attitude in bed so will enjoy more like "do it or leave" attitude. Never handed in the money first because you are pay it and make sure your money is worth it. Remember they are not your girlfriend when you pay them money.

Oh I landed in Varadero airport and took a cab to / from Havana cost 100cuc both ways. Is this cheap or expensive?

The reality of soliciting a beautiful chica at midnight may be very challenging if one is on short trip and does not use a pool of local connections. The supply is very limited and number of venues is very scarce. There is also a competition with few Cubans, Italians, Spaniards, Mexicans etc. Who speak the dialect, now the customs, know how to dance and treat a latina and are not cheapskates. There is a steep overhead as girls share their income with boyfriends, need to pay entry fees, higher a reliable drivers, doll up, pay doctors, pay police, save money for a major fuck up where they need to bribe out their way, they pay for powder, send money to province etc. Etc. Forget the salary or exchange rate. Try to buy a nice house in Miramar and see how the prices are close to a million in divisa. I have seen few beauties who ask for a hundred but worth a thousand in Europe.

I have to agree with everything everyone said here. Except I'm not fat or ugly. I did my research on market prices and most of the posts seem to show at the clubs this was the price.

Yes on the streets you can get cheaper and I am sure if you want to wait until the clubs are closing you can get a better deal but I have to work the next day.

But I fully agree with the sentiment. It is over priced for the market.

One more warning. When leaving Salon Rojo outside you get surrounded by loads of taxi drivers trying to take you to their cars, be very careful of you stuff, a friend of mine had his watch taken off his wrist in the craziness. Also we all know to fix the cost of the ride before you are getting in, I went in a taxi with 3 other and the driver when we arrived tried to charge the price per person which we refused to pay.

Here is a short abstract of how Eco-101 relates to paying for sex in Cuba:

-Supply outnumbers demand: More pussy than tourists means price falls to adjusts for demand shortage.

-Average professional monthly salary in market where sex is sold is around $20 CUC: more tempting for a potential service provider to happily take a month's worth of pay for a day's work and even half a month's just to get by.

-Illegal market to trade sex: Service providers are under pressure to behave well while in customer dwelling or could face jail time. If didn't perform according to agreement means less pay.

-Two tier currency system: Locals get paid in the weaker currency and you (the customer) are their only source for the desirable CUC.

Service providers are substantially isolated from the rest of the world and grew up with socialist values: American pop culture hasn't polluted the goods. Women are easily content with what you give them.

UK444, all Kalifornication and the rest of us trying to say is that in Cuba it is a buyer's market. Meaning, we the customers not only do we set the price but we also set the terms, duration and frequency of service provided.

And it doesn't matter if you are old, fat, or bold headed, non of that bullshit should affect the price in Cuba, maybe in our distorted western society. Just be a gentleman, but a firm one.

What you pay should be relative and proportionate within the economy of that market.

They're not only fucking up the market, they are increasing their chances of finding trouble. If a chica knows you're foolish enough to pay way over market, she will logically conclude you're an easy mark to be robbed or scammed.

I agree with your sentiments. It seems that one of the biggest reasons to read this board is to find out what the pricing structure is, which (as you mentioned) typically correlates with what a native Cuban, Dominican, Colombian, et al can earn on average. It is indeed ridiculous for a guy who has read this site to travel somewhere and throw outsized sums of money at the women. In a country as poor as Cuba, giving a women $100-150 is asking for trouble. Once you've done that, she knows you're an fool and her male friends will soon know also.

As I mentioned in an earlier post I stayed at the Hotel Saratoga which is one if not the best hotel in Havana. They have wireless internet in the hotel (free for guests) but it is soooo slow it is useless for anything other than email. I did try this site and it was blocked.

You can get girls into the Saratoga but it costs $50 for hotel security.

First night hit Salon Rojo. It was packed with girls at 1am on a Thur night. All seemed to be working and very aggressive, our table got surrounded by about 20 girls. Going rate was $100. $150 CUC.

Second night hit La Cecilia. This is about a 20min cab ride from the center of Havana. Started to wonder where we were going but got there in the end. Cost 10 CUC for the taxi but that seems to be the price anywhere you go. La Cecilia is an outdoor night club and again packed with girls (some I had seen from the night before). Long line to get in but I spoke with security and didn't need to wait in line. Great quality girls and big selection again. As soon as one started speaking to you it was difficult to shake them. Rates the same as Salon Rojo. Decided to try a Casa Particular (basically a private house) instead of paying security at the hotel. Cost $20. We literally went into someones house that rents a room out for this. Kind of strange, think I should have paid the extra $30 and went back to the hotel. Not a fan.

Third night was walking through the old district started talking to this girl and she invited me to her place for $50 which turned out to be a Casa Particular and cost another $20.

Now the warning: I am always very careful with what I carry and do, I never carry a wallet but I did have about $300 and an iPhone (for pictures. Can't use it for data) I had the phone in my pocket and money in a back pocket closed with a button. I never leave my clothes. Take them with me to the shower etc. And carefully put them on a chair in the room. The girl put a condom on the bed and started the action as things got more heated she looked for the condom and it was missing. She them proceeds to search for it looking on the bed on the floor, even lifting my clothes up and checking under them. Then goes and get another condom from the house. After the fun, I leave the house and am walk through old town and notice that my iPhone is now gone. Be very careful with your stuff.

Even Havana is very safe you need to take some precautions. I always use a security pocket that I put inside on my clothes and I always rent a room with safety box. Therefore I never have problems with thefts. Cuba is a poor country and some people will steal if they get the opportunities. I was in Havana January this year and your first meeting with Salon Rojo can be a little bit chocking. 20-30 beautiful girls want to stay with you and if you don't are prepared it can be uncomfortable. It's interesting to see that Salon Rojo is re-opned. People told me that the place was closed during the summer period? I personally expericenced the girls at Salon Rojo to be a little bit hardcore but the quality is very good.
