I am really having a difficult time playing this video. It will play for a second or two, then pause for 10-15 seconds. Then play for another second or two, then pause. It is driving me f-ing crazy. I have gone on Andrew Lindy's website and tried to play the video directly from there. And the exact same problem. Any advice from you IT geeks out there? How can I play this? Is it a problem with my computer? Other videos seem to run fine.

That video has higher resolution (better picture quality) than most. You need a faster internet connection. You can also just click the pause button after it starts. Wait ten or fifteen minutes for the data to load on your computer before clicking the play button. If it starts to pause again, click the pause button and wait again.

I don't think what she said wasn't something any Cuban could tell you about life in Cuba. She didn't motherfuck the government on film. She described a situation that is obvious for anyone with eyes to see.

Prostitutes are not prosecuted in Cuba because prostitution is against the law. They are pressed because they have access to hard currency and cops want some of it. Lacra cops have an active campaign to shake down prostitutes. They shake down the girls and put the paperwork aside, pending payment of amounts of 500cuc or more. An ugly business, for sure.

Good people don't make bad people do bad things. Doc workers in Havana steal from containers, Cigar factory workers sell cigars, restaurant workers steal the inventory. Cops use their position to extort money from whoever they can. Communism, and the necessity it's corruption creates brings this about.

THe gov't isn't stupid. They know the only things worth going to Cuba for is the cigars and the pussy. This is their way of 'taxing' the underground industry.

To be clear, I hate that it happens. But I'm not so naive to think it's a secret.

A cuban girl wanting a red bull, mojito or anything expensive makes me think she wants money from me.
Dont put information on the internet pointing directly to cubans in combination with hustling. how to be sure it wont harm them.
Finding a 'normal, reel cuban girlfriend' in the street, in daytime is not that easy.
Falling in love with a cuban girl an wanting to take her home is a tempting idea, but leave the idea and the girl in cuba.

They DO NOT have the sort of acess to the internet as do we, and therefore are far too naive in this regard. I would argue that given the risk they are now exposed to, they did not know where this was going.

It is sad really, mainly because were this any other country, say Austin, Texas USA, the door man and the hotel manager would be fired and they would then move on with their mundane lives. However this is Cuba. And these folks hold valuable government jobs and access to tourist dinero, and used that access to supplement their income. Is this a crime deserving of jail time, No! But that is likely what they will get.

Yes Everything you say is possible but, She was studying english and spoke it. (her sister spoke it perfectly) She knew that Models in Cuba go no where and models in the USA or other parts can be famous. She knew there is gain elsewhere in the world and knew that in Cuba people go nowhere. Only live to eat and survive like animals as she put it. I just don't think she was that Naive. She knew he was making a film and was going to use her in it. I am quite sure of that. She was probably hoping it would get out and she might get noticed. Probably a risk she was willing to take. She had knowledge of the outside world. I think she also understands clearly what could happen to her if a Video like that got out and the repercusions involved. What I don't know is this, Is the cuban govt still this repressive on there own citiens. What I mean is I can understand in Cuba the govt. Jailing someone for publishing a paper or radio show damning Castro or talking bad about Cuba but, are they going to really search the internet to find a video and go after that girl for what she said. Will they really go after the Doorman for taking money or leading the Film maker to a room where there are prostitutes. I don't know as I have yet to visit there. I tend to doubt it but I will defer to the Cuba experts.

The cop in the video, the door men at the hotel et probably were filmed with an undercover camera and they surely didn't know they were being filmed or that a video would be made.

I have no idea whether the girls who modeled for him, the sweetheart girl or the girl who took him back to her poor house knew it would be posted on the Web but, they knew they were getting filmed and knew the risks. I am sure he paid the poor girl and the sweetheart one said she wanted to be a model so surely she had some grand idea that if she posed and did a photo shoot for him that she may get noticed, exposure et.

Cuban taxis buy gas at subsidized prices. That's why it is always a good idea to consider hiring a Cuban driver and using his car. This way he takes on the third part liability and likely pays less for gas.

And why tehrse workers should not go for 15 years in prison? If you have a half-normal girl you can oficially pay in hotel and bring her in your room, pool, etc. The guy wants "break" on official fee and the hotel guard is literary stealing money from his employer. It's freeking breach of trust and theft. It is the same as a carpeta employee would steel money from cashier's box. Huh, yeah, and don't start the crap "they are working for 15CUC a month etc" it does not jutifies stealing in position of trust from your employer. They should be prosecuted to maximum extent of law.
