A round trip flight of $275 Canadian for a Trip to havana or Varadero, it a great price.
I ussually spent anywhere from around $550 to $725 when it comes to airline tickets to Cuba. Most of the time, I do travel thru Cancun because it one of most inexpensive gateways to go Cuba. The cost of airline bewteen Newark and Cancun is between $250 to 350, depending on days in adavance I book with airline. Then between Cancun and Havana is another $280 to $298. I have never gotten the same price twice whenver I book from Cancun to Havana via Cubana.
In conclusion, this fare of $275 Canadian Dollars and about $100 dollars for gas it a great savings for guys like us who live on the NYC area.
I know that some of you say using Nassau is a better gateway, but for me since I am out of Newark. There are no direct flights into Nassau. I ussually got to make a stop at Miami or Fort L.
This is my 2 cent on this subject.

If your traveling form south Jersey fly thru Philadelphia or Newark but you will probably have a layover in Florida.I believe that thier are 4 daily flights to Havana from Cancun which makes it a popular gateway.I was questioned about my whereabouts 3 years ago when clearing Customs at Newark Airport so cover your ass and no cigars/rum.
Its a pain in the ass to fly to Cuba and its expensive

Posts: 107You could always look into Porter Airlines out of EWR to Toronto, maybe worth it combined with the cheap airfare from Toronto to Varadero.

When flying from NYC the cheapest gateway country is the Bahamas. Most of the flights are out of JFK airport.
Flights to Bahamas start around $300 (includes tax) and the connecting Cubana flight is about $350.There is also a $42 departure tax from Nassau.
Expect to pay $700 min.

Posts: 479Now let get back to our regular programming....
For anybody interested, Sunwing has a roundtrip special of $65 Canadian Dollars Roundtrip leaving on September 18 and returning on September 25. For those of you who have the time and the money, you can for $65.00 Canadians Plus Taxes. Taxes are $210 Canadians Dollars for a grand total of $275.00 dollars. For those who live in the East Coast and one to get away for a week this is a very inexpensive side trip.
BTW, the Canadian travel agent that I use is Holiday Market Travel (www.holidaymarkettravel.com)
Good Luck.
