I find it hard to believe that Havana has become that bad of a mongers destination that there hasnt been any thread activity for months? I was there last summer and plan to go back this July I had a great time with many a young chica. True, Havana is not THAT bad, but if you're by yourself, and think that you can walk down any random street and pick up any cute girl you see, you'd be mistaken.

I was there in February and literally some girls would completely ignore me or even run away if I said Hi.

Everybody's experience is different. If you go to a night club, there is guaranteed poon, but they are hardcore.

Getting anything else (semi-pro, non-pro) requires the use of the locals or a lot of foot work. If you don't have connections or aren't willing to walk for hours in search of chicas, don't be surprised if you go to bed by yourself. Also, a car helps.

I did not use any local help in getting poon, as I had been warned about being ripped-off/scams, etc. Something you should keep in mind.

However if you can find a trusted source, who knows what you want, and isn't going to rip you off, go for it. Taxi drivers are useful as well.

My visits got less frequent and, after 2003, I did not return at all - until last December. Unfortunately, the situation only got worse. As I posted earlier I just spent one week in Havana. Main purpose of the trip was actually sighseeing but did find time for some chicas. The bus ride was quiet pleasant mostly along the coast and thru Matanzas and another town which I can't remember the name of. In general, I was surprised that almost no attempts were made to cheat me by wait staff, bartenders and cab drivers. For example, when I took a cab back from Morro across the tunnel the meter read 2.13 and when I handed him a 5 he gave me back 3 and said ok. It was the only time taking a cab on the meter. Otherwise I would just tell them the destination and price and let them accept or not before getting in. I paid 3-4 from Havana Vieja to La Rampa area where my casa was (perhaps I was getting ripped off at 3-4, I really have no idea). The only time I got ripped off was when I was with my "guide" who I promptly fired after one day.

As for the chica action, the first one was provided by my guide. I let him know what I was looking for and he claimed she is someone he knows and a "regular" girl from the countryside. I got the vibe that she was quite professional but decided to give it a go since he came recommended. Turns out I was right and I had kicked her out after less than 20 minutes. She was actually part of a group of about 4-5 hardcore putas who hang around a small parkette across my casa. Most of them are not even that good looking and each and every one has her own chulo that will happily spend your cash. There are lots of cops around as well but most girls buy them off. One evening, I noticed a girl being apprehend by two cops and I asked ‘my’ girlfriend of the moment what was going on. ‘She didn’t give them any money’, she answered.

There are many gorgeous ‘normal’ girls walking all day and night in La Rampa, for example nurses from the nearby hospital and university students (University of Habana). Other good pick-up places in La Rampa for (semi) pros are the clubs and dancings roughly between Calles K and O. By the way, illegal casas abound in Vedado and are not hard to find. Any of these girls know at least a few. I originally stayed in one but decided to move to a legal one as the risk of having my money stolen was too big. Of course, the chicas won’t come with you to a legal casa as they want to avoid being registered.

I also spent some time mongering in Centro Havana. The North end of El Prado between the open-air cafeteria (of which I don’t remember the name) and the ‘Oasis’ pub, is the hunting ground of a whole bunch of professionals. Some of them are really gorgeous. They were openly hooking in the street already from 2 p.m. I tried a few of them as they looked so damn good. I was living in the Cayman Islands and was about to leave for good, and realized that I never got a chance to go to Cuba. Heard a lot of good things from people on Grand Cayman about the bevy of beauties, etc. in Cuba.

So this was indeed a last minute trip, for a measly 2 days. I went with a "veteran" and he kinda showed me the ropes.

The potential for the trip to have been a memorable one was definetly there.

The first mistake was forgetting to change my money at the airport. My pal forgot to remind me and he said that he would lend me which he did. But not having your own money made it somewhat not as enjoyable.
