There has been a lack of reporting here, I am usually a lurker, but I feel I owe it to you all to update you with my latest journey.

Having spent the last 9 days on the island I can tell you that all there is just fine.

I spent time at Macumba, Jazz Cafe, Casa de Musica, and a few smaller bars.

Only Jazz cafe had solo chicas. At the bigger clubs I would highly recommend that you bring your own with you, it is simple to do.
Just walk or drive on Malecon or La Rampa (23rd by Havana Libre) talk to someone that appeals to you respectfully and invite them to dinner and/or the disco. You will have the time of your life.

I just returned from a 1 week trip to Havana. My goal was to get laid 7 times in 7 nights by 7 girls. I instead ended up spending the week with the same girl but did manage to sneak away 1 night for a quickie with another girl. So I basically had all the sex I wanted for 7 nights but fell short on the variety. I still had a very enjoyable trip. This forum has helped me greatly in the past so even though I was doing the girlfriend thing, I always tried to keep my eyes open for any information I could pass on here later.

Havana Carnival - When I arrived Sunday night the carnival was on at the Malecon near Prado Ave. Live music, hundreds of Cubans partying and drinking, lots of girls and extra police of course. I figured I'd hang out and enjoy the festivities for a while and not rush and hook up with any girls too early. So when a few girls approached me I didn't pay to much attention. As time went on I started to notice that in proportion to the amount of girls that were at the party there just wasn't that many girls looking to hook up. Fact was I later couldn't find anything I really felt comfortable hooking up with for one reason or another. It's possible it could of been the extra police presence. I think it was more that the girls that were there just seemed to be more interested in the party and not really into hooking up. Don't get me wrong. You can still meet someone there. It's just that if you see something there you like at least show your interested early on so you don't have to panic like I did and start walking around like crazy to other areas drenched in sweat forced to just try and meet anyone so I could get laid that first night.

Prado Ave - I took a walk up Prado Ave where all the girls sit on the benches in the center of the street. I really felt that it is just too dark here and what you think you are getting may turn out to be not what you get. I kind of started thinking that maybe the less attractive girls sat here because the darkness might help them look better. I preferred walking off to the side next to builders on the same side as the Hotel Caribbean. There always seemed to be a few good looking girls hanging around outside the bar entrances and yes it was well lit. As you walk down the street girls from the benches will signal out to you. Once again, be careful that what you see in the dark might not be what you get. Once you signal her over it is kind of an awkward situation when she turns out to be a dog.

Malecon - The carnival was only on during the weekend on the Malecon. It was back to normal during the week. I took a walk on the Malecon around the Central Havana area on a Wednesday night. Central Havana towards Old Havana is where the action is as far as I'm concerned regarding the Malecon and girls. In April I enjoyed prowling the Malecon looking for girls. There weren't a lot of girls then and only a few Cubans hanging around during that month but I always managed to hook up and had a lot of fun doing it. This time the Malecon was packed with people even very late into the night. In amongst the people there were a pretty good number of girls. However I must say I really felt awkward and like such a pervert walking up and down the Malecon in front of all those Cubans. It would have been different if there were more guys like me out there to take some of the pressure off. I think the Cubans get a kick out of coming out and sitting back, relaxing and watching the tourists try and hook up with the girls. So I definitely felt there was an acceptable number of girls hanging around this area. I imagine it would probably be pretty good all during the summer while the Cubans were on holidays and probably any day of the week too. I just found it very difficult to make a move with all those people hanging all around. I like being anonymous while going on one of my chica patrols.

Other Possibilities - I went with my girl to Casa De La Musica in Central Havana. A nice place to take a date but I didn't see too many girls looking to hook up on a Thursday night. However both the girls I met I found just hanging around out front of the vicinity of this club. Also as I stated before there were girls hanging around outside the clubs along the Prado. When I was in Havana in April I felt trying to get laid in the daytime was hopeless. Every girl I seen just seemed too busy. Now in the summer there seemed to be many more girls looking to hook up during the day. I was approached a couple times when I went to have a meal at restaurants in Old Havana and Vedado. These girls seemed to prefer to hang around the type of restaurants that have an outside seating area. They will just come over and ask if they can join you. If you're not interested in sex you can just buy them a drink and they will keep you company while you eat. It's a good way to practice your Spanish or maybe make a friend that you can possibly run into in the future. I did also see a pretty respectable amount of girls on the Malecon once while riding my bike. This was in the afternoon sometime around 4:00pm. They were hanging around the Central Havana area where the road takes that curve. I'm pretty sure you would need a car or taxi to pick up these girls. However a couple of them did signal out to me when I drove my bike by. Not sure what they expected me to do. One other thing I noticed that a lot of these girls were wearing a red top. Not sure if that means anything.

Police - On the weekend during the carnival they hauled in extra army trucks packed with police. Despite this I really didn't see any police hassling any girls or anyone else during the course of my trip. The girl I spent the week with assured my that there would be no problems for us to go out and be seen together. We must have walked past at least 25 police holding hands (we were holding hands, not the police) and they never bothered us once. As a matter of fact they seemed uninterested. Some advice I received on this trip was to take a more aggressive stance in front of the police. Sneaking around and walking separately may actually make things worse because you look like you got something to hide. Perhaps the fact that we walked around slowly and casually holding hands like we were just out for a stroll made us look like a serious couple. When we encountered a policeman we never altered our course. I am still not totally sold on this direct approach. I guess it depends on the girl's past and whether she is a local girl. My girl did have one fear and that was taking a walk with me on the Malecon. I asked why and all she said was that it was very complicated. Perhaps she had problems there in the past but she denied this.

Girls - The average price I heard during this trip was around $40 for an average looking girl. If the girl is comfortable with you expect them to try and hook up with you for the rest of your trip. One of the things I liked about the girl I hooked up with was that she invited me to go for a drink to talk and get to know me before she even mentioned sex. This makes me think she was an amateur /opportunist type. These type of girls are probably good if you are looking for a girlfriend for your trip. I just don't think semi-pros do this. Be advised. These girls are so nice you will have a hard time getting rid of them. I recommend setting some ground rules before hand if you don't want a Cuban novia.

Final Words - I think there are definitely more girls around during the summer months and a lot more girls available during the day. However I really seemed to have a hard time of it I must say. For example when I escaped the one night from my girl to look for some action I was actually right at my door step ready to pack it in and go to bed alone because I couldn't find anyone. Can you imagine that? Luckily there was a girl nearby outside my doorstep I just signaled over. Maybe I was just too picky. Possibly it was that I always thought there was just something a little better waiting around the next corner until I ran out of corners. I think the Havana Carnival attracted more girls but also more police and I think it was actually a hindrance in meeting girls on the Malecon. I think a normal summer weekend night would have been better to meet girls on the Malecon. I think the best advice I can give you guys is that if you find something you like grab her right away. I think this is where I went wrong.

    Gentlemen,

I will finally be heading to Havana on Friday via Toronto and just wanted to check back and thank you all for the enormous help you've been, I don't know where I'd be without it. I'll be sure to submit a report when I return, I know the board has been hurting for one recently. If there are any new suggestions as to places to check out, I would definitely welcome them. Anyway, can't wait til Friday!

EDITOR's NOTE: Posting of this report was delayed pending revisions to capitalize the word "I". To avoid future delays, please use a capital "I" to refer to yourself in future reports. Thanks!

Does anyone have an actual current report on La Habana? I'm curious as to the actual, current situation.

Just read a few old reports on the Cuba board and I want to tell you guys something. Probably you know it already but here we go:

NEVER, EVER trust a Cuban girl, they are ALL lying, they have all boyfriends/pimps.

Never believe them when they are saying: "I have cancer" or "I have a child from a Spanish tourist and he left me alone and then they are starting to cry. They can cry on command.

They are all very intelligent, they know when they need to look away when there other tourist in the neighbourhoud.
They try very hard too convince you that you are the only one.

Here I qoute NPaul who wrote:

She is a nice young girl. not sure about our future. wants me to send her money each month. bought her a new bike for $130 and felt like i was hustled though she kept saying money is not
important. like us saying sex is not important

In the beginning they are telling you money is not important and of course you are impressed, but THEY know afterwards you give them more: a bike, a television, a refrigerator, clothes, jewels, a TRANSCARD, money each month.

When you try to check her it is impossible because everyone on this fucking Island is lying.

I finally know the truth about my novia. When you tell her that she will deny it very, very hard. Even the family and the neighbours.

Please guys think about this, a nice, young women who can find 2 or 3 tourists who send here every month money is not only smart but also VERY, VERY rich.

So guys pay only 20, 30 USD not more, fuck here and LET her go.
Maybe it's difficult, but listen to me I lost more then 4000 USD with my last novia.

Going to Cuba for 8 years I thought not with me, but you see the result.

    AN APOLOGY:

I misread the post by Doc Bill and thought it was supporting Flashman. I sincerely apologize for my error. Doc Bill has ben very supportive of my right to express opinions here. Hope I can buy him and some other a few drinks one time in Habana.

Having just sent a pm to Talosian, I thought I would clarify on this forum that my comment was intended as a dig at Flashman, who insulted my friend Spock with his inane and useless comment. I apologize if it was understood any other way!

Arecho66: If this is true and manifests are sold, then why are there not thousands of demand letters being sent out to Americans? We know a lot of Americans go and only a small percentage get demand letters.

And if that is truly the case, why didn't I get a letter when I went?

    Who knows, just thoughts.

Doc Bill and Flashman: IMHO, your comments are worth their weight in toilet paper. Expressing an opinion is fine, simply attacking someone doesn't show much mental ability or quality of the person. Have fun, I won't bother to reply to any more flames. I am glad people like you are in the minority and there are others who think about things and express their opinions, thoughts and suggestons as mature adults.

All airlines must submit flight manifests containing detailed info regarding passengers and cargo to the destination airport authorities (i.e., Mexican government) who then SELL the manifest to U.S. Treasury officials acting on behalf of OFAC (Office of Foreign Asset Control), the U.S. subagency in charge of Cuban travel ban enforcement.

Flashman, thanks for your nice, well thought out comment. A true asset to this board and real helpful insight.

  12. #911
    Tao,

The US authorities don't need to get a passenger list. They have people that wait in the lobbies and see who is getting off the planes. Yes, they have their people in Mexico. They also have other ways of finding out.

They have even more people in Canada. Most of the time, a US citizen is actually processed through US Customs while still in Canada before going on to the US.

You should be ready to be stopped at anytime and be ready to resist questioning if you have been to Cuba. Needless to say, it would also be very stupid to have anything in your luggage that would give you away as well. Not just cigars but even small stuff like napkins with a hotel name imprinted on them.

"If Bush wins a lot of people will be moving away"

That's a nice, well thought out comment. I hope you are one of the "lot of people"

Moving away from the USA will solve all your problems.

  14. #909
    One more thought.

Many Americans are going to Cuba through Mexico/Cancun and taking Cubana airlines. As I recall, and please correct me if I am wrong, Cubana is the National Airline of Cuba. I don't think the Cuban Government is going to turn over the passenger lists of people coming in from anyplace, to the U.S. Government.

I saw a post on another Board where it was asked if a person living in Mexico on an extended visa (5-years) can use that instead of a Passport to get a flight to Cuba. I wonder if Cuba would accept a Visa from Mexico as valid identification.

    Any thoughts here?

    Spock.
