This is my first time on this board, however I have been getting excellent information from all the "mongers" on this board for about 3 years. I have been to Cuba the summer of 2002 and 2003. I have no experiences in other countries, so I cannot make comparisons.(Brazil, DR,AR, etc.)

I have had great experiences, the first time, and even the second time, felt like a kid in a candy store. I got my casa particular reservation through the internet, however when I got to the airport, the driver convinced me go to another "casa" with some bullshit about my choice being bad. (Bad that he wasn't getting a commission). I ended up being happy about the choice. The following year, August 2003, I returned to the same casa, which I highly recommend. On my first trip, the casa owner volunteered to be my driver for $20.00 a day, driving my rental car, a bit much, but it was my "primera vez en cuba" as the cubans say, and I didn't know better. He did take me to the turist spots, Varadero, etc. And to Playas Giron, which is about 2.5 hours from Havana. (I highly recomend this place as there are some very nice private spots that you can take your chica to and do her "Blue Lagoon" style). I think I left my condom there between the bushes. Red trojan. If anybody doubts it I have the pictures to prove it). They also have a swimming hole called " La cueva de los peces". And a nice hut type restaurant, where you can get either a lobster plate or a "carne de cocodrilo" plate(for you Spanish Challenged guys) is Alligator meat. For about $15.00 a plate. That will be $30.00 including the chica.(I was hoping she ordered a cheese sandwich, but no luck).
Part 2 later, fellow adventurers. "Hasta la Vista" as my new Governor will say.

I just returned from Havana after ironing out the casa problem. Things went perfect. TJ to Mex City to Havana. Not only do they not stamp American passports, they don't stamp anybodys. And they would not take my 20$.

The girls were all 18 to 25 and easyest way to meet them was right on the street in the day time. In Central Havana there are three main streets, the Prado and the Malacon(sea wall) to meet girls. Never pay more than 25$ and any one you see no matter how beautiful? Just ask her her name in spanish. If she answers, you're pretty much in. But do keep an eye on them at all times and don't go for the twosome because for sure one will be snooping and stealing. Bring cheap presents, panties, make up, dollar store stuff. They'll love it. They have nothing.

Oh, the casa problem is Fidel wont let the girls in the hotels. You could say its your girl friend but then your stuck with one. The casa is the only way to go, but you have to find one were the owners give you your own key. I did 11 different hot little mice in 16 days (keep a couple more than one day) and as soon as I figure out how to log photos on I will. You will be amazed.

I am I international bunny hunter home based in San Diego and the cuban girls are very beautful and are hot as any other countys have to offer, way cuter then most of the ones I've seen logged.

    Quifhunter,

Your warning is very justified. I have no doubt that in this day n’ age of extremist stupidity (of every ilk…) every airline passenger manifesto is being scrutinised by the powers that be.

I guess that they are concentrating on known names and patterns of travel, rather than the solitary trip now and again. However that still means ones name has been “made” every time one goes to Cuba. Shit happens and with this one we have no control.

Big brother rules, always has and always will... In fact its all SSDD.

I was in DR about a month ago and had a blast, met some excellent girls and enjoyed the company of some fellow punters.

I want to pass on the comments of some American ex pats living in Sosua that I met. They said they would not go to Cuba now because they were concerned that the Dominican Republic authorities were passing on information to US authorities, such as travel manifests.

I am the last one to discourage punter travel, especially to Cuba. I am just saying to be careful and check it out.

    DocBill & Havanaman,
Have you tried martavitorte@NOSPAMhotmail.com ? Nice rooming apartment in vedado.

    DocBill,

I will get the phone numbers on those two houses in Vedado and Miramar. I have been extremely busy. I have had to postpone my trip for March31 until April 14. I simply have to much work which I cannot turn away considering the economic conditions the US is in right now. I will have phone numbers for you by Friday.

    DocBill449,

We are in the same boat! I’m going to wing it… Back to the old taxi-recommendations for me for my first night in early April. I will PM you with what I can find.

    Regards, Havanaman

Come on guys, help me out here: I still need a chica-friendly casa to stay at next month. Got a recommendation from El Cubanito but no phone to make a reservation. Anyone know of one that you'd recommend? Vedado preferred. Thanks.

    Lankan_Lover,

I have used Copa, they are OK, nothing special. Be warned about booking in Havana. The agents will tell you they are full, and try to sell you a business class ticket… It’s a common scam in Havana, I’ve been stung by it, so make all your bookings from outside of Cuba. I had a couple of days in Panama on this route, nice place, but limited time for me to monger.

See PM: I have seen Castro speak many times, but I’ve not been in May so can not comment. If you stay for the full presentation / talk, you deserve a medal!

    Regards, Havanaman

If you want to got o Cuba, and your whole point of the trip is mongering... Fly to dominican Republic. Spend a day or two ther eget a little tan get prepped up and then fly to Cuba from there. And do the same ont eh way back, fly from cuba to DR, spend a couple of days in Dr then fly back to the states. That way if you bought some cuban cigars you can try and pass them off as dominican knock offs.

About two years ago I made my first trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina. I fell in love with the city and the people there. It broke my heart to see so many people less fortunate than us. There are many children that don't have adequate clothing or food. Shortly after my first trip I had a goal of starting a non-profit foundation or charity to help out these people. I was surprised when Jackson (owner of WSG) was at my apartment in BA and told me that he was in the final stages of starting the same type of charity. I was amazed and touched that we had the same idea. There really was no need to redouble my efforts.

The news media likes to talk about a side of the hobby that the majority of us aren't a part of yet they don't talk about the other aspects. I'm not quite sure how much WSG Charities has raised over the past year but I'm proud to say that many guys have contributed. Some have made very generous donations of $1,000 or more. I think that's wonderful! There are so many guys that receive benefit from WSG. Directly and indirectly. I posted the following below and I would ask you to read it and make a contribution.

Maybe Jackson will decide to branch out and help feed the poor of other cities. There is so much good we as a collective group can do. There is nothing better than helping someone less fortunate than yourself. Please give generously.

I know some of you will have the response, "yeah, I already donate to charities in the USA" or make up some other excuse. Many of us donate to charities in the USA as well but I'd ask that you consider helping out this cause.

    ________________

"Hi amigos. Some of you may be aware that Jackson has taken the time to start a charity to help feed the poor of Buenos Aires and the surrounding communities. It's ironic because we both had the same thought about trying to do something to help the poor of Buenos Aires. He was much further along and took a lot of time and effort to put it together. Several of you have emailed me over the past several months asking if I still had plans to start something like this. There is really no need to double my efforts as we have the same goal.

I am asking all of you that have received benefit from my posts in the past and all of you that have received benefit from WSG to make a donation. This probably includes just about everyone reading this forum. Even if you have no plans to visit Buenos Aires you have probably received an indirect benefit of living vicariously through members from this forum. I'm not asking you to contribute a huge amount although if you could that would be great. With the sheer number of guys that read this board all it would take is a small donation of $10, $15, $20, $25, or $50 a year to make a big impact. If you can afford it then donate a few times a year.

I'm sure many of you could care less about the poor of Buenos Aires. If that is how you feel than so be it. I strongly feel that everyone can afford to contribute AT LEAST $10 or $15 to this cause. Several of us at the Thanksgiving Dinner last year contributed money to help with this cause. I hope that in the next few months I see more and more people with a designation under their handle that says they have donated. I didn't even know Jackson was doing that but it's probably a good idea. I would personally feel offended if I'm down there and out hobbying with some of you and you didn't contribute at least a little to this charity.

I feel like I've taken time to contribute through my posts and I've never asked any of you for anything. This is the first time and I hope you can find it in your heart to help out. You can make a donation with Paypal.com and that is probably the quick and easiest way. (To make it easy for him you might want to include your handle with your paypal.com donation). Please keep in mind that this is Jackson's project and he is the one that took the time to put it together. I know he probably didn't want to solicit donations and he never asked me to. I'm asking on my own behalf. Thanks in advance for your generosity!"

    Hi DocBill449,

You can stay at 588 Calle C, between calle 23 and 25 in Vedado, Havana. The owner of the house is a lady called Tomasa. Unfortunately, she does not have a telephone number. But you can tell your Novia since she lives close by to go to her house and make arragement for May. SHe is a great lady and she will take care of you. Her house is right next to the school on Calle C. The rooms she has are really great. You have your own private bathroom. The bathroom and room are really great. SHe rents two rooms, you can take any of the two rooms you will not be incovenience.

Docbill, I can also give you the address of a house in Miramar if you want to stay in Miramar. The owners are great people and I have never had any problems with them as far as having chicas in my room. The house is even better then the one from above.

Guys, maybe because I speak spanish (But I do not think that is the case since I always rent a car in Cuba, local know what cars are tourist by car by the plate) but I have never been hassle with my novia in Cuba.

Did any body see the Movie on Cinemax last night called Balseros. The movie is actually a documentary of the life of these group of Cuban who left Cuba in 1994 and what has happen to them in the last 10 years of their life in the land of the "free". Most have found that they had it better in Cuba because they have not been able to adopt. Out of 5 families that the documentary follows, one only "made it". The movie is worth following.

Just to add to Spock's good point, don't expect to be able to travel with your girlfriend WITHIN Cuba either. It used to be difficult but is now near impossible. If you're lucky it would only be a major hassle with numerous authorities, and good luck finding a place to stay outside of Havana or Santiago.

As for bringing someone out of the country, the only way I'm aware of doing that is the fiancee visa, a process that takes about a year and (technically) requires marriage once she gets here (US). I'm actually doing this now.

On a different note, I'm going back in early May and for reasons too boring to go into I'm not staying at the same casa particular in Habana. Can anyone recommend one where I and my girl can stay with some reasonable privacy? Vedado preferred. Thanks guys.
