    Hi all.

So, I guess this is my 'hail mary' in terms of a trip to Havana. I live in Canada and have a work trip to the Southwest in May. I was hoping to take a week's vacation and travel to Cuba due to the obvious cost savings. I have been to Cuba once, in 2010, and I loved it there. If mongering weren't a consideration, I'd be going in a heartbeat for the music and for some Son classes alone (which I plan to do when I travel).

The thought of going to Cuba totally excites me, I love the country. But I also now factor in the opportunity to meet ladies when deciding on any trip. This is an important part of my trips as a long-time single guy having been stuck in Canada for the last two years due to COVID, apart from a quick trip to Tijuana recently.

I have just gone through the last 50 pages of comments. That sure was fun. During this time I have run the gamut of emotions. From "I need to get to Havana now" to "Havana is a terrible idea" - mainly the latter, sadly. From my destination in the Southwest, I can get to places such as Tijuana and Cartagena for half the price of a flight to Havana, but Havana is my ideal destination if mongering is not a consideration.

Full disclosure. My Spanish is non-existent, but I learnt enough to get by during my last trip to Tijuana and have 3 months to learn what I can. I'm also not great with approaching women, but I can. To be honest, I would be happy with one lady, maybe two, during a 5 day trip (which this will be). But I do want to get some reassurance that this at least could happen wihtout any major issues.

Another issue. My career, and the current stage of my qualifications, mean that any kind of arrest which would have to get back to my employer would likely signal the end of my job. It would also mean that my employment options in my curent city / province would be extremely limited. So much so that I may need to move. I'm not in a special role, but am in a very precarioius position in terms of qualification / money invested in getting where I am. All this is to say that I can't take any chances whatsoever in terms of being arrested.

I should stay away from Havana, right? As much as it is my ideal destination for non-mongering reasons, the fact that I will be actively seeking to meet ladies seems to put too much risk into things, in a current situation that doesn't sound to great right now, even if I wasn't worried about negative consequences.

From what I've read, Badoo may be an option, and I'd consider that. I'm not concerned with 9's, 10's etc. I just want some 7/8's company and time for a few of the nights that I'd be there.

Is arrest a real risk of meeting ladies in Havana right now? And, if not, for someone with average skills and little Spanish, is the chances of meeting 7's /8's a realistic possibility with a 5 day trip (I. E with little time to put in groundwork to build up a base of contacts)?

If I didn't love Cuba, I wouldn't be making such an effort to try to get some positive indications that my trip would be fruitful. I can just as easily head to Colombia or Tijuana for less cost and be relatively happy. But I really want to get back to Havana for other reasons. I just want to make sure that mongering is still likely to be positive, and relatively risk-free, given my circumstances above.

Sorry, a bit of a weird post. Hopefully you understand where I'm coming from.

    Thanks.

This is the most recent actual report I can find about meeting women on the street in Havana:

"Street action: I walked down La Rampa twice during my stay. I did see many women available, but also many police and cameras; was not worth my time to play the 'Cat and Mouse' game. It was the same on the Malecon. Others have had luck, but I had enough on my plate, so I didn't waste my time."

    http://www.internationalsexguide.nl/...798&viewfull=1#post2427798.

However that is dated 02-25-2020; in other words just before COVID hit. Apparently at that time, the standard process was: visit certain nightclubs, give a woman your address, leave, she will show up at your address soon after. She will need to provide the apartment owner with her identity card. Give her 30 USD in cash for the night.

The question is: What is happening now? Same situation? Major changes? Obviously the poverty is much worse than two years ago and domestic unrest is greater so perhaps the police are easing up on prostitution. Or not.

But are there any reliable guides Q+As in terms of current nightlife / best accomodation options for company? Are hotels in Havana generally guest friendly? I'm guessing the casa particarles are not?

    Sorry for the noob questions.

I'll keep working through things here.

Any high level info / nightlife / accommodation hotspots for this hobby would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
Hopefully others with more recent experience will respond, but hotels may not be guest friendly, it depends on the relationship with police and current climate for that. Sometimes the government is cracking down on prostitution, other times ignoring it, and generally getting their cut (police that is).

Casa particulares vary. Most will at least tell you that guests have to be registered, sort of. One host told me that he had had problems in the past with a guest that got robbed by 2 girls in his apartment, and he had been in some trouble for not having collected their names. He told me to wake him up, any time of the night, if I came back with a chica as he needed to record their ID.

Most of the fb profiles you mentioned before are the same kind. I chatted with some of them to see. Girls trying to sell fake pics of Colombian girls in order to get a recharge. Cuban girls have been famous for that now thanks to stupid mongers sending money for naked pics and vids which can be found all over the internet for free.

I pay to get laid not to jerk off.

Go to Cuba walk around and start talking to a girl you like then you will be sure of what you get. All the rest is BS.

Last time I was there, even like the simplest things you wouldn't think twice about in my country could become a luxury item in Cuba due to the planned economy.

For example, I was told that hair ties and hair pins (which they sell by the whole bag in my country) is an item that is somewhat hard to get. Hygiene items like toothbrush, toothpaste, razors, etc are also hard to get. Apparently beef is super expensive and controlled, so when I brought a bag of Costco beef jerky people were treating it like some delicacy. And simple things like Hershey's chocolate were sought after. A good pair of socks could fetch $3-5 dollars on the black market.

But I wouldn't bother selling things, though. I would just bring small items like that as gifts to give out to people I meet and people who help me. I imagine if you're from Israel you probably live a lot better than the average Cubans so why would you want to waste your limited time of your Cuban trip trying to sell small items when you can just be enjoying yourself?

I agree completely. Don't send recharges and in fact don't even bother messaging anyone until you are in Cuba. However I don't think they are all fakes and I keep hearing things about "cat and mouse" games with the police when trying to pick up girls on the street. I hope to soon see some solid first person reports from the frontlines here.

Half way up La Rampa just past the open all hours cafe going up the hill is La Tikoa (or something similar), although the term semi pro doesn't really mean what you think it means. And I don't know if they're remotely open after all this pandemic nonsense.

I've been to Cuba a few times and have never seen anything like you are asking for. Several years back there were music venues where you could find company, but not sure what is operating now with Covid restrictions. Hopefully someone on the ground there can help with that.

To make my response clearly say what I intended, to the original question from Onojdi. That Muzungufotsy gave you the answer and yet you asked again.

Trying to collect info about the price to know what will be acceptable and to know when they are trying to overprice the stupid gringo.
Depends on what she looks like. A Ferrari costs more than a Kia.
