After having left Havana (see my first report) we went to Camaguey (wait for my next report) and from there we made it Santiago.

Club Bucanero were completely destroyed by hurricane Sandy. The damage is irreparably and there is no plan to rebuild.

The last time I was in Santiago was in 2003 or 2004 and times were good.

Now the Policia Nacional presence is heavy in all public places and no girl will take a chance to be out with a foreigner.

I met a couple of retired Spanish ladies ( in their 60s) and they told me how a private guide, a young male Cuban , was detained for interview by the police for accompanying these 2 Spanish ladies.

The Castro Brothers seem to display a psychotic fear of an invasion or at least would like the Cuban people to think so.

What is possible : meeting hoes in night clubs and bars where the police will tolerate that. But they will not walk out with you in the streets .

I could pass for a Cuban and nothwistanding that no Cuban girl would dare to be seen in a public place by the Policia Nacional .

Only SENIOR MARRIED TOURISTS from Europe ( Germany ) going in chartered bus to visit tourist museums and sites seem to enjoy Santiago and Guantanamo.

Otherwise , avoid Santiago and Guantanamo ; the police will ruin your vacation time.
