Posts: 322Unless your inside information is superior to mine, this was all Raul. As for 90% never returning, impossible. What does your 90% represent? The 2% that can afford to leave? Or the other small percent that cannot afford to leave, but, get invited to leave by marriage? Or the % of doctors and techs that have been leaving and returning in greater numbers than those that "defect" for several years now? I am confused. Most Cubans, especially the newly immigrated Cubans to the USA could give a shit about Cuban or Miami Cuban politics. They are simply seeking economic opportunity, not unlike the poor of other nations. They love the "motherland" notwithstanding its flaws. In fact, Miami politics has changed significantly because of these new Cubans such that most Cuban-Americans now support normalized relations with Cuba. Ja.

Posts: 210Not only do toilets don't have a seat but I have been to many restaurants that also had no running water, soap and toilet paper. One time I really had to use the can and when I was done, I noticed there was no toilet paper. Oh oh. I yelled out to the waiter and she came back with a book. WTF? Only in Cuba!

Posts: 322Now that was some funny shit! God bless you man. I am also tired of the no-seat shitter. I actually brought my own soft-seat (bought from Home Depot) to Cuba so that I could actually enjoy a good shit.

I definitely see lots of Cuban engineers heading out to Venezuela to build its infrastructure and the oil business. If true, then also Cuban doctors will head out there and maybe to the US!
I am hypothesizing this new change could have a positive impact on our supply. Maybe more men leave to work and more cubanitas feel hungry for some TLC.
Who knows, it all depends on the fine print of this new emigration change. But trust me, lifting the embargo will have a direct negative effect on our supply and costs. We'll have better business service and better restaurant food and cleaner toilets with seats!
BS.

Posts: 322Hugo Chavez's country. At least for the time being. Otherwise I agree with you. The result of the change is simply this, it will expose the fact that the USA never wanted Cubans unless they risk their lives at sea so that the USA can then argue how bad it is for these Cubans that they take to the sea to escape Fidel and Communism. Big lie now exposed. Why? Because you are correct, the USA is NOT handing out Visas to Cubans for vacations or for any other reason. Good move Raul. Now its the USA move. They may decide to issue visas to all that apply, but I doubt it.

Basically, short of marrying a Cubana that wants to stay on the island, there is no other way.
