18 for tourists. 16 amongst Cubans.

    Cigars

Anyone have any success selling cuban cigars? From what I read some people suggest getting them appraised and taking offer at a local Casa Del Habano. Being a shop I suppose the profit margin is far less, anyone in-the-know on the subject? I'm from Canada, PM if you prefer.

    Thanks

The best way and hassle free way is going through Mexico, either Mexico city or Cancun, there are a couple of options either Aeromexico. Com or Interjet. Com check it out. Cheers.

My experience has been that customs knows very little about OLFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control). Most of the time I have to educate them about USA law. They always ask me for a copy of the "General License". I tell them, the General License is a self certification that travel is legal as opposed to the "Specific License", . They then ask again for a copy of this general license, its absurd!

You are right about this, right or wrong, they, in their ignorance can make your life difficult. But, they cannot do much more than delay your processing because, in the end, unless you are transacting business with Cuba, you are clear.

It is what it is. You have to play the game by their rules not yours.

Don't be stubborn. I know from experience.

Since you clear US Customs in the Bahamas odds are against you even more.

Remember you have 2 entry stamps on your passport with different dates.

One stating the date of arrival into the gateway country and another entry stamp stating the arrival date into the gateway country when you depart from Havana.

Where were you between these 2 dates Sir?

Its not rocket science. Be careful and respectful.

If you are a proffessional or have a goverment job I would NOT risk travel to Cuba.
The answer should be 'None of your business' Period. Moreover, if one left for the third country, Cuba was only one option of many.

United States Government has never prosecuted a USA Citizen for mere travel to Cuba. Now if you intend to engage in business / trade with Cuba, . Think twice.

I think the risk of getting caught by US customs has diminished significantly since Obama came to office, so you have little to fear. Bush was more interested in appeasing the republican leaning Cubans in Florida. This is an issue that has been discussed at length on other sites, so be sure to research it more. I don't think the risk is higher. I have been through the Bahamas many times and there were lots of Latinos (I presume they were all Cubanos) on the same flights.

There are plenty of sources. Good luck!

If this law pass I am afraid that we are all obliged to change destination and that's going to be a big loss of income for the Cuban economy, because we do have money and we spend it in Cuba.

In all totalitarian states the severity of law is mitigated by non compliance.
