In my opinion Boca Chica needed a police presence at night. Some old crack head woman once tried to stab me with a knife, while I was walking on calle duarte at night.

I don't know how the nightlife scene is in Boca Chica presently. To me Boca Chica was not worth mongering in at night. I drive past boca chica and go to juan dolio, which is cleaner and there are pros in juan dolio.

If you are interested in freelancers, your only choice may be Sosua now.

The authorities in santo domingo want to get rid of freelancers, some mongers will stay out of santo domingo because of that. Some restaurants and hotels in santo domingo will lose business.

A Swiss couple was killed yesterday in hotel Mar Paraiso in Boca Chica. A couple of guys were arrested in relation with these murders. Both escaped from jail not so long ago. Four laptops, two dvd players, two cameras, three watches, two cellulars among other things were stolen by the guys. One of the guys admited 10 other crimes against foreigners in the Boca Chica-Juan Dolio-Guayacanes area.

My favorite spot has always been Costalunga Hotel. You park on the street right in front of the hotel with no worry. An armed security guard is on duty all night. Costalunga is very chica friendly.

If you stay in Boca please be sure to post a report. With the big change in SD I will now be spending a few nights in BC before going to SD. I need my SW fix.

I spent two weeks there last year at the Affordable Adult Resort and the Costalunga is about a block from Carlos's place. I didn't have to find my own woman last year since they were provided by the resort but there were some nice looking women working the Hamaca Casino and I remember a bar on the beach where the waitresses wore Santa hats and red bikinis who flirted a lot.

Due to ticket prices I am flying into DR a couple of days early and do not relish the idea of driving in the capital. I was thinking it might be better to stay in Boca Chica and take the bus to SD if I wanted to go.

I have looked at the BC map and was wondering if somebody could recommend a good hotel in BC or Jaun Dolio where parking would not be an issue. Being on the beach would not be an issue since I will get plenty of sun and fun on the North coast.

BC was closed down in 2005 but as far as I am informed it is up again - not as before, but back to business. There has always been periods with the police running campaigns against girls in the street. This may as a matter of fact be to your advantage, the girls are more negotiable.

I left SD on Thursday morning 6:52 AM flight to Panama on my way to Canada. I left my Novia at about 3AM she was sick the night before and was unable to have sex or give me a BJ. So she made me coffee and gave me a HJ.

After I left the house, I still had the urge to get one out (as HJ's are not my favorite). I originally thought my flight was at 6AM but when I arrived at 4AM the counters were closed and I noticed the time of my flight.

Take the guagua to SD (50 pesos). You catch it at the north side of the parque central, it's free shuttle to the guagua station on the main road - you transfer to the express to sd there. On the express you pay the cobrador.

You get off in the zona colonial, get a taxi (200 pesos) to the Caribe Tour or Metro bus terminal. There are more runs by Caribe but Metro may be a bit better. Tickets to Sosua are a couple hundred pesos and there are lots of departures daily.

The caribe bus lets you off across from the entrance to Charamicos. Metro at the gas station right in ElBatey.

Buses have cold ac, tvs. Very comfortable reliable service - cheap. One of the best deals in the country. Also a good place to meet chicas in my experience. There is no reason to rent a car just to go to Sosua.

Good info Marc, and I agree definetly don't rent a car just to go to Sosua. It has been a few years since I took the bus from Boca Chica to Sosua but the total travel time was about 5 hours from my hotel in Boca Chica to the hotel in Sosua.

report back and let us know how they work. last hotel i stayed at in sd i had a room on the 3rd floor and the farthest room from the hotel router. i kept losing the signal in the room. i ended up having to leave the room door open or step out into the hallway. the hotel promised to change my room the next day but most times it is just a pain to lug your stuff from room to room.

cantenna is a good wifi antenna that you can screw into particular wifi cards, that can slide into a laptop (many pc wifi cards you can unscrew the plastic antennas and attach the cantenna). i have one where i live and it picks up the signal from my house, from where i have one computer that is over 200 feet away. might be a little big to travel with and you will need a wifi card that has a place for a screw in antenna: http://www.cantenna.com/

another option is a usb wifi adapter and a 10-16 foot usb cable, so you can position the usb adapter in different areas to get a better signal. buy a usb 2.0 high speed active extension repeater cable, which works better than a normal usb extension cable ($8.49 at amazon): http://www.amazon.com/speed-active-e.../dp/b000fstko4

I ordered both cause I had issues with wifi in the past and in the DR you need to be a wifi wizard or you may be outa luck.
