Posts: 628Re: Casa Coco - It must have been quite a few years, since Gary L. sold out and a German (or Dutch - somewhere in Europe) bought it some time ago. It is still non A/C too small, not enough of a lower price, if any, to recommend over either Costalunga or the El Candil. When Gary was there is was really an anything goes sort of place that's for sure. But those days are gone.
The pool is nice if small (vs. Costalunga) but the breakfast is good and a fair price, better than Garant which was the best but I think it is far too much money now.

Posts: 88Having a great time in BC
Hey Guys
I'm at the ElCaucho and having a great time in BC. Those who have said that BC is a thing of the past are dead wrong.
I'll post a trip report when I get back. Too busy having fun with the Chicas, and drinking.

I want to thank those who have answered my questions and those who have posted on the BC board. I'm headed there in 8 more days with a scuba buddy. I'll report back either from BC or when I return. I'm going crazy with anticipation.

Eric, The Madjera is right on the beach. The only drawback is that the rooms are small. But they are modern and clean. The AC is good and the price is 31 a nite. I stayed there once . Not a bad choice.Close to restuarents and clubs.

It seems as though you got a good deal on your airfare. I purchased an online ticket with Spirit from Prov, RI for $320 a month ago when they were running a sale.
I don't know much about these hotels since I have never stayed at either of them. I do think that someone on this board had a negative comment about the Madjera. Why aren't you staying at ElCaucho?
Well anyway, have a nice trip, and thanks for the info you gave me. I'll be heading to BC on March 1st. Maybe we can discuss the details about the scene before then.
Happy and safe hunting, Sailor02.

Posts: 628Los Pinos is an apartment building with a few rooms by the day or week. Very nice, clean , big, quiet. No pool. Cash only. If they have rooms and you don't want to swim other than the beach, it is a fine choice. Most would take as their first choice the Costalunga across the street, but I've stayed at LP twice and it was very good. Bring a padlock for the strong box. It is 1/4" steel but uses a padlock vs. a supplied built in lock. Big though.

Posts: 481I've been to the North Coast a couple of times but currently the best air deals I can get are from Spirit to SD (Spirit has some pretty good specials connecting in Ft. Lauderdale until Sunday). The arrival is 2:15 PM and the last Caribe tours bus to Sosua is I think 6pm. Is it reasonable to expect to get through customs/luggage and afternoon traffic by cab to the Caribe station in SD in that time? I've never been to SD and I have no sense of traffic or the airport. TIA.

Hotel Europa $35 ( Econo Room)
BurBujas $30
El-Caucho $35
Stay away from Burbujas - it is on the main drag and very noisy, small rooms and its falling apart - a real dump.
If you don't want El Caucho I would pony up the extra $5 a night and stay at Costa Lunga - so much nicer than any of the other 3 places mentioned.
