In around three months, much of the Dominican Armada (Navy) will begin to move to its new headquarters in Boca Chica.

The 27 Febrero Naval Base has been the headquarters of the Armada for more than 30 years but it will be moving to a new base comprised of four five-floor buildings. It will house the office of the Commander General and all of the higher ranks, and will include dining areas and dormitories, as well as a hospital that will also serve the local community.

There will be a training center, and the whole base will cover an area of 525,000 square meters. According to reports, the new installations will also provide a boost for the local community as apartments for the naval staff members living off base will be built nearby, and a commercial center and bank branches will be opening.

Well, I guess the Jamaican cuisine was not good enough. They opened around the 22 sd of January and when I returned from NY, February 21st it had gone out of business. Quality of food aside, it is a lousy place for a restaurant, even if only a short block from the Duarte. Too dark, no place fpr chairs outside and bad odors resulting from people relieving themselves around the area. Second joint to fail in the same venue in 16 months.

I just talked with my folks. James is still open. He starts about 2:30 or so.

Mom and james open up a Jamaican restaurant here in Boca Chica. James has been here for 3 years and has never been to Sosua. He prides himself in offering good Jamaican cuisine.
