The downside is that neither have much in the way of onsite restaurants, so you probably need to get food elsewhere. I don't know of anything else in the city that matches the description upscale, and at least both of these are beachfront properties, which is generally considered worth something. Portofino in Long Beach is another possibility. Not actually on the beach (though not far away) and no views. Has good restaurant and small pool. Rooms nothing to get excited about though. You could stay at Beach Club and eat at Portofino.
All sound information from someone who knows the area well, but the OP wanted a place similar to Terra Linda (that is, to reasonable gringo standards). All the places you list are one step down from that. There is no gringo-standard chica-friendly hotel in Pto Pta city. The nearest would be Field of Dreams which is a couple of miles outside, but very cheap and easy to get into town. Downside with Field of Dreams is, if the OP wanted to shack up with a non-pro, she might be put off by the putas hanging on the premises and those awful murals. Otherwise it would be his best bet.

If he wants to eat "slightly upscale" as well there are better restaurants than Portofino, though more expensive (La Tarrappa, Las Palmas, or Taste).

It depends what sort of chicas you are looking for and how much you want to spend (not just paying them but on taxis, restaurants, drinks, etc). Very expensive to take girls out of Cristal. Most mongers who know what they are doing arrange to meet outside their working hours, but be aware only a minority at Cristal have much freedom in the daytime as the rest are like indented labor.

For professional putas there are several bars with working girls but the standard is generally low, certainly no better than Field of Dreams or Blackbeards because the same girls rotate round all these places over the months and years) , but you can usually find at least one diamond in the rough.

For semi-pros (by which I mean chicas who don't venture out in the evenings to find paying clients but won't turn down your cash if they like you) there are several bars your side of the city along Avenida Luis Ginebra, of which the most frequented is El Furgon and, if you can dance the local dances (bachata and merengue) a number of dance-halls on the opposite (western) side of the city.

For non-pros, the same bars and dance-halls in the evening, plus public places in the daytime like Parque Central, the Malecon, and the big shopping stores like La Sirena and Jimenez. Hard to pick-up non-pros and even harder to get them back to Field of Dreams unless you have at least some of the following advantages: young (under 35) , good-looking, smartly dressed (or what Dominicans consider that) , good Spanish, nice car, big spender.

Hillybilly69 always works the tourist spots and it works for him, but I have always heard that the chicas there are either too picky or too demanding. That would make sense as they have a captive market of tourists who are frightened to venture away from the campus and don't know shit so they think if they pick up a woman under 35 for US$100 they have got a bargain.

If you have to resort to asking a local tout to find you chicas you are sinking pretty low as a monger. I would stay as far away from that scum as possible. You will just end up paying double for what you could find yourself for nothing, and it could be physically dangerous if he takes you anywhere off the beaten track.

Finally, if all else fails, you are only a 25 minute and US$1 ride away from Sosua. (That is one of Field of Dreams' advantages over Blackbeards). I spent a total of five months at the old Field of Dreams when it had no in-house chicas. At first I would regularly go to Sosua at night to find women and meet my friends but by later trips I knew my way round the local area and have had little to do with full-time putas or Sosua since those early days.

You make Black Beard's sound huge. Folks it is a two storey motel with rooms facing one side, a pool, a restaurant with a bar in the same area, and a room with a pool table. Likewise, Field of Dreams is a one storey motel with the same shit minus the restaurant.

I'm not much of a drinker so I'm probably not going to spend much time in the bar in between girls.

Yeah I did the BB thing 2-3 times and got bored each time there after the first 2 days. It got to a point that I was fucking to kill time and it became work very soon. There is a great beach nearby but that's it. I rented a car and made my way to sousa which is way more fun. Now I don't even bother o go back to BB.

There is a casino nearby, you would have to take a cab. I also took a chica and did a atv adventure which was really alot of fun. They pick you up right at bb, its a real fun time. The pool water will definitely not be cold unless it rains a lot. Theres also a pool table. The girls are all around the place so you won't have to sit around the bar. Also the ocean / beach is only a short walk. I also like to take a girl out at night to dinner instead of hanging at BB. They enjoy getting out of there for awhile.

Although many here may disagree, then again I see Americans taking what I would consider crazy risks, Sosua is a thrill and addictive but there is a ton more that can go wrong. Read a ton about Sosua, and get some advice. BB's you can just jump right in.

I always spend a couple days in BB and a few in Sosua. I personally like the beach in Cabarete so I usually rent a condo in Cabarete but I always rent a car. So I either pick something up in Cabarete or drive to Sosua which is like 15 minutes and grab something there. BB is a great safe place. Very little can go wrong there and staff and guest are usually a lot of fun. Sosua can be a pain the ass if your not on your game.

    Thank you.

Respectfully, please read this thread and then ask specific questions. There is, as you will learn, lots of information that has been posted. That said what are you looking for specifically and what is your definition of upscale?

I'll be there at Blackbeard's on Nov 25 for two nights, then to Sosua for two nights. Really looking forward to it. From what I can see in photos of both places, I like only about 25% of the chicas but I'm sure that will be more than enough for me!

Yes, about 5 minutes with a cautious driver. Other options to relieve boredom would be Santiago (10 minutes) and Santo Domingo (15 minutes). If you have 30 minutes to spare you could pop over to Cuba.

Just joking. I think you must have misunderstood because I don't believe Blackbeards would have told you any such thing. Sosua is 35 minutes by cab and it is an expensive ride. You could get two ST chicas for the return taxi fare.

Why are you staying somewhere where you think you might get bored even before you arrive? If you are the claustrophobic type you would be better staying at Field of Dreams. Much easier, cheaper and quicker to get off campus to Sosua, Puerto Plata and other places. Or if you are used to Pattaya, you might be happier staying in Sosua itself. Only 1% as many women as Pattaya, but still ten times as many as there are at Blackbeards or Field of Dreams.

There is another guy currently posting called Henry R (which is how Henry V would have signed his name). I got you two confused for a moment.

The room rates are on their web site, chica prices are 1600 pesos for the hour, thats around $40 give or take a dollar or two and all night is 3000 pesos thats a few dollars shy of $80. From BB to Sosua is more like 20 to 30 minutes and the cab far there and back is $60. There are plenty of hot chicas at BB more than enough to go around and they will be on you like white on rice.
