I am told the hotel charges 350 pesos for two hours. More basic than a cabana but half the price and more convenient if you are in town (especially if you do not have a car).

I imagine they would want to check the girl's ID for proof they are over 18.

The more presentable local working girls use Mountain View Hotel for short-time. It is in Eugenio Kunhardt at the corner with Villanueva (about 50 yards downhill from La Pulga).

To the nitrox poster, is it really NO2? I thought it was the Nitrogen that gets dissolved into blood under high pressure and so you have to surface at phased intervals?

Never heard of anyone going to Sosua or Puerto Plata to dive, so I think the answer is no.

If you want to get in great diving in a monger locale, head straight to Curacao.

I thought about Curaçao having been diving there a few years ago. But I have a large number of non pro gals to tap in the DR. I literally do not have time for all of them in my typical 5 d trip there and I hate to give that up. In Curacao, the girls are half an hour by car from any of the decent hotels. Everything is P 4 P. Basically, I am going to get certified for nitrox as is my buddy. So the exact nature of the dives isn't that important. But from what I read (and you guys confirm) the north coast sucks and Punta Cana isn't hugely better.

There is at least one diving school in Sosua and my friend has a brother-in-law coming next month to gain a qualification there because cheaper than in the US. That guy is not a monger. But the other guys I have known to dive in Sosua came because there were chicas as well and it would not have been their first choice just for diving (other than muff-diving).

Lots of places have diving schools. Doesn't mean the diving is worth a damn and everything I've heard about Sosua is the diving sucks.

However, if he just wants a place to get his certification, yes he can do it there.

I used to be an avid diver (had to quit because of ear problems). Sosua is not on any list of desirable diving locales in the Caribbean.

If one wants to combine diving and mongering, Curacao is the obvious choice in the Caribbean.

Exactly CP. I do recommend it for cheap certifications. I got one of my specialty certifications in Sosua. When my 10 year old nephew turns 13, I will take him to Boca Chica for his first certification. DR (along with Philippines and Colombia) is one of the cheapest places in the world to dive, but if you want to see some interesting stuff then it is not happening.

Thanks for the Intel. I think I can impress a non pro or semi pro but time is a factor and the chicas may not have the time at that moment. Time management is key along with a game day play book. Sosua is a good option as you suggested. If anyone has some "in the know" Intel they would like to share I would appreciate it. I'm on a Smash and Dash mission.

Can someone give me an honest comparison of the diving in Puerta Plata vs bevaro / punta Cana? It is a bit hard to know if Pierta Plata is really any good based on the web or even the occasional report here. But clearly, PP is better for the chicas.

I am thinking of taking a non mongering friend to the DR to dive and this factors into my decision. Thanks.

Puerto Plata / Sosua sux. Boca Chica sux. I was too lazy to go out when I was in Punta Cana last month so I have no idea about that place. But I would have to guess that it sux too. You do not see divers flocking to DR.

Question for the Puerto Plata Veterans: I would like to get a current update on any daytime action in Puerto Plata during the weekday. To include the street scene, car washes, casas, freelancers, bars, etc. Not really in to the high prices, upsells and ripoffs. Also if there are any short time hotels available during the day. Any information will be really appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The only car-wash/bar in town is Ojilvy's, near La Javilla, which used to be a big ho market a decade ago before the AIDS scandal. I hear it is picking up a bit at weekends lately, but doubt if there is any action midweek. I am not into high prices either, so that rules out Cristal, Field of Dreams, El Bohen and Luz Maria. I am not aware of any casas.

Puerto Plata is great for picking up non-putas and semi-putas (much better than Sosua for that) but you need some Spanish and another asset or two (young, good-looking, car, good dancer, or willing to flash the cash), and you need to take your time, so not for those on a short vacation wanting immediate gratification.

If you want putas, go straight to Sosua.

I understand there are only two shifts at FOD now (aside from the handful of girls that live onsite). First shift is 11 a-7 p and second shift 5 p-1 am. All of the available ladies (and thus the greatest selection) are present from 5 p-7 p. I agree with Charles about the Badoo thing under your circumstances. From Playa Dorada FOD is a no brainer. Get golf cart ride to the back gate, walk across the street, have a drink at the bar while you size up the talent, and score! Wednesdays is bikini contest day but reportedly those have been somewhat lackluster as of late. Good luck!

Given that your time is too limited (2/3 hours?) to court her like a date and charm your way into her knickers, she is obviously a full-time or part-time puta, so she would not be scared off. She might even meet a few former colleagues there.

But why bother with her? Why do you not just choose one of the FoD girls? Although there is not a great selection you would find at least one you liked and you will have to pay an inflated rate for the room there of you bring in an outside girl. I can see this Badoo thing being a fiasco. What happens if she turns up 90 minutes late (which is par for the course)? At least if she does not turn up at all you will have saved your money.

Have you asked Field of Dreams whether they rent the rooms short-time to people who are not guests bringing in outside girls?
