Okay, my interest is peaked! That's a decent rate. Assuming one could do just one night if I wanted to. That rate would be the same as getting a $60/nt room at BBs plus short time with 3 girls or short time with one and one overnight, but, the kicker is that BBs doesn't include food and drinks. Could someone clue me in on the types of girls that are there (Cristal's)? I can't seem to navigate to any pics of the girls there. Are there any? Can you tell me if the girls there are Dominican or foreigners. Either way is fine, I just want to know what's ahead. Looks like I'll get 3 experiences this coming trip. Cristal`s has a huge and probably the finest selection of girls across the north coast like 70+ in all different sizes and shapes and colours blancas, morenas and negras. During my last time to cristal`s in march 2006 there were mostly dominican girls from all over the country and maybe some haitianas.
During your up coming trip to the D.R. you should just check it out. Entrance is free a beer was for 150 pesos now it is 170 i have heard.
Cristal`s opens at 7 pm and during the week closing time is midnight and during the weekend 2 am in the morning.
During my last time i did not bang a girl as it was already too late when i showed up. If i recall right they charge you 100 usd, but i don`t now if that is for 1 pop or 1 hour for st so hopefully somebody else on the board can clarify this.

I quite agree with this, for someone going there for the first time (and a short time) it is much better to stay at BB and enjoy every minute of your holiday, damn I'm very jealous now.

You may find BB to be a great place for an intro to the DR, and you may never get the ambition (or energy) to travel to Sosua.

Some guys like cruising the street to save a few bucks or just enjoy hunting, but for my time and money, ya can't beat a hotel with dozens of girls waiting to treat you like a king.

I quite agree with this, for someone going there for the first time (and a short time) it is much better to stay at BB and enjoy every minute of your holiday, damn I'm very jealous now.

Sosua is about 5 miles on the other side of the POP airport, about 40 minutes by cab. Fare would be about 40-45 US one-way.

Sosua's main point is quantity. Many, many girls, so a wide choice in quality available.
Drawback is potluck, you ar on your own, though some prefer it that way. Some very good, some very bad, including some cases of drama, theft, etc.

Yes, but as I have pointed out before you can take a public taxi from central Puerto Plata to Sosua and back twenty-four hours a day for one dollar each way.

The taxis have a red sign on the roof that say Transporte Pta Plata-Sosua and you can pick them up in Puerto Plata in front of Caribe Tours or Tienda Jimenez, Parque Central or outside the hospital.

At Sosua the taxis run from the main highway just 100 yards or less from Classico Disco.

The night time taxis have Transporte Nocturne on the roof, but you really don't need to know this as the daytime and night time taxis are not out at the same time. I think you pay a few cents extra for the nocturnal ones. They run all night.

If you go to Sosua for the evening there are many restaurants and bars available and you can find many, many girls, some of them very beautiful around the Classico disco area from 10 p.m. to midnight, or a bit later at weekends. They will find you I should say.

As mentioned above, these girls are as is, sold as seen, and totally without any kind of warranty, but they are much more reasonable in their financial demands and cost a fraction of what the girls from the nightclubs with salidas will cost you. In fact some of them are the same girls.

There is a short stay place in Sosua called Calypso, which is basic and will run you $10. Condom is provided, but very thick, so byo. If you want something better you can rent a room at the hotel Europa for the whole night for a bit less than $50.

So public taxi each way plus room at Europa may be a more economical night out than tourist taxi each way.

Whether you go to Sosua or not, you will have a great time, no doubt.

After reading all the post I have become converted to DR. I have never been to DR only Brazil. Brazil is more expensive now the dollar is falling also there seems to be the same faces except for a few new ones every time I go. Also the woman want more money in Brazil. Brazil has become over rated.

I am not sure where to stay in DR but from the post BB sounds the best unless someone has any other suggestions.

Are there any other good bars and clubs a newbie should visit?

Is there a particular dance club where you can pick up woman for all nighters besides staying at BBS?

I am a regular visitor to BB and usually bring some gifts such as thong underwear (big hit) and a few hot bikinis I buy on the web (even bigger hit). If you ever see the girls wearing a thong in the bikini contest, it is probably from me. The girls love presents but I would not use them as necessarily a bargaining chip for lower prices each time but rather to cheaply build a reputation as a generous nice guy which pays big dividends in terms of service. I never pay more than $40 for short time and $80 for overnight but I get fantastic service which has improved with repeat visits. Short time is never less than two hours and includes jacuzzi and a major workout in the room with multiple shots on goal and virtually anything available. There are certain things in life where you should pay for quality. Mongering is one of them.

Ok. I was going to go to BBs next weekend but decided to try out New Garden. Blackbeards gave me the run around on a reservation. I have never been to DR but I am a fairly experienced monger-er. US and Europe mainly. I do not speak spanish but I am hoping to meet up with some local ex-pats for some beers and advice.
