Anyone have any advice on best place to change money in Puerto Plata? I'll be staying at BBs later this week, and I know they offer a money-changing service, but my experience with changing money at hotels has never been good.

I just got back from BB. I was there from 09/21-09/23.

Few short notices:

- Nobody cares about last issue with the web site. The girls hardly know about it – and even more, they do not care about it.

- About events, there was posting about what and how related to Jacuzzi, do whatever you want there, the short time with the girl is about $40 and you can start in the Jacuzzi and continue in your room. They introduced happy hours, but the price is still the same. Do not consider overnight as an option because the service for overnight is not the best – they are tired after long day.

- About the girls – since my last visit in October last year the quality went down. The girls act and look like street hookers, they became very rude and aggressive in some situations. Do not try to make any arrangements about the time or date. They still hardly speak English and they do not even try to improve any communication skills. OK, we are not visiting BB for intellectual conversations. The look – average, many of them after having several children do not look the best. The best performance – blowjob in Jacuzzi is still the best treat. Check with a girl about service. Some are into anal, oral, 3some, orgy – so state clearly what you want. Charo and Elizabeth are taking care about girls. Each of them covers one shift. As I mentioned earlier, the girls are somewhat out of the control. Although girls make top buck since the prices are fixed ($40 for two hours, and $80 overnight) some of them do not make any effort to provide good service because they know the other guy is there anyway. Take care and make sure she stays for two hours because they are trying to leave the room as fast as possible. Only if someone complains about the service, Charo and Elizabeth can intervene. Still, service at BB is safe, secure and monitored compared with the situation on the streets.

- Javier is a new guy at the front desk – very helpful, polite and friendly.

- Transportation – flew with American Airlines over Miami. The flight is ok, but returning over Miami and especially immigration and customs there is a nightmare.

- Transportation from the Airport to BB – it is unique ride every time. The cab cost is $40, and the road to BB is a nightmare.

- Bedbugs or Mosquitoes – well one room at least had a problem with bedbugs. Mosquitoes are general problem. Still, rooms are clean and service very good.

- Food – well it is ok. Something for everyone.

- Bar – the girls at the bar are great.

- Visitors – bunch of great guys every time I’ve been there.

- General point – BB still rocks. It is place to be considering the service and personal attention. There is always space for improvement, but in general, place to come back anytime.

i always rent a car in dr and other countries. it gives you the freedom to just drive and see the country. if you have a nice chica beside you that is better.
do not be scared of the crazy drivers as long as you keep your cool and do not outrace or show any road rage.
you do not need to rent a suv. but rent a mid size car because there are too many potholes. get full insurance at the rental place. do not rely on your credit card insurance. drive slow because if you hit a pothole at high speed you are going to loose the hubcaps. and believe me they want to charge an arm and a leg for those cheap hubcaps. i had hubcaps come off, got few flats and the car key scratched etc. if you have full insurance nothing to worry. once i hit the pothole so hard it bent the wheel rim. local people are very nice. they changed my wheels for me and did not even take the money i offered. i did not even get my hands dirty. also i have given rides to school girls who wait beside the road for transportation. do not be afraid to give them a ride. this is a country full of family values as long as you behave nicely.
not to mention the chicas you can pick up on the road.

My question to the veterans is do I definately have to kick out the extra money for an suv or can I get by. I plan on getting all the insurance that my credit card dosen't have to ensure for the most part being protected. At night I will get a driver to drive because most likely I will want to drink. The vehicle will cost $165 before all the taxes and fees. I know defensive driving is key. I rode on the back of one of those motoconchos. I thought he was going to try to pop a wheely with me on the back. Not my cup of tea. Let me know what you guys think.

i WOULD DEFINITELY rent the SUV and head into the mountains or down the coast to Rio San Juan, Cabrera, etc. You get absolutely no respect from the road maniacs in a little car, and with the bumps and potholes that you will inevitably hit, your more apt to a blowout or worse in a small car.

Definitelt take the full insurance, trust me, you don't want to be detained because of car damage or because of an unisured accisent with a local. It's woth the extra hundred or so just for peace of mind. Also, make sure you check the spare tire when you rent, and that you know where the jack and wheel release are. There's nothing like exploring the campo, especially if you know some Spanish, you'll be happy you ventured out!

Sheets, if all you're going to be doing is running back and forth from POP-Sosua-Cabarete, go ahead and get the economy car. I used to rent them when I first started traveling to POP over 2 years ago and had no problem.

However, if you run into some chicas who happen to live in the back streets of Puerto Plata and you have to pick them up and/or drop them off, it could be a bit difficult navigating those back streets in a small car. Some of them require a 4 wheel drive at times.

Here is the 411, I hope that I can address you questions to your satisfaction.

Most of the girls are from DR, but they are talking of adding Filipino, Ukranians and some others. I prefer the Latin type, but they have every shade, white, brown, dark. Super thin, to well rounded but they do not have ugly old girls. They are great, the quality is well worth the cash. Most people complain about the cost but once you are there you know it was well worth it.

1. The way it works is that you get access to 4 girls per every 24hrs you are at the resort. One of those is TLN the other 3 are for about 1 hour, but nobody is watching the clock and usually you are already hanging out with them in the bar or pool. If you want you can have all 4 girls at once but only one will stay with you for the night.

2. If you want more girls in a day you can pay for either one for the hr or add another for TLN.
