Thanks for the tips gentlemen , Well I'll consider very seriously this opportunity for a winter trip ( like Jan of Feb 2005) if any of you will be in the area at that time please feel free to PM me ....even better if you re from Montreal , Qc , Canada area.

Once again thank you for the infos.

    Karybou,

I was there last November for a week. Enjoyed it very much. I too was skeptical after reviewing the website, but I decided if I didn't like it I would just go somewhere else!

Well, I'll be back again this November!

The place is just what it is advertised to be. You are of course in a country with black outs, crazy drivers and 3rd world conditions, so you must be flexible and keep your expectations in perspective.

    Have a great time!

    Barrio , literally means area.

Generally it is used to say I live in this area. Barrio maybe good area or bad area.

My two cents for what it is worth.

Response To Karybou. I just returned Aug 19th after 10 days at Blackbeards, this was my third trip this year to Puerto Plata / Costambar. Blackbeards is extreamly clean and the staff right from the owner John and General Mgr. David, down to housekeeping make your stay enjoyable. The pool and hot tub are big and clean, food is good and the bar well stocked, back up power, and the ladies much better looking than the web-site pictures. The local expat sceen in Costambar is worth a look, you pick up lots of info, try Robertos Bar, no ladies just good people that can steer you straight. If this is your first time in the DR, than blackbeards is the way to go, both Dave and John will hear confessions in the morning and provide mental health services threwout the day. One final note, for any mongers that have been to blackbeards, I offer this Anaology, the guys walking threw the gate are like grazing herds on the plains and the girls are the Loiness waiting, stalking the prey, its a wild sceen.

    Hi Guys,

I have a question for those of you expert of DR mong' scene.

Is The Blackbeard Adult Resort as good as it looks or is it only dust and strass to trap you into some kind of low end place?

I've been throughtheir website for the past few days and it semms like ZE place to be when you want to spice it up a little bit.

Can any of you let me know in his own words?

    Any girl to recommend?

    Thanks for sharing

Actually "Barrio" is the Spnish word for "neighborhood" and it only means "ghetto " in English speaking areas, like the USA, where technically is it not being used properly.

Everyone in the DR lives in a barrio and a lot of the barrios if not all of them have names. The trick it to know which ones are bad, e.g. Gazcue in the DR is good, Barrio Mexico in SP de Macoris is very very bad.

FOR ALL THAT DONT KNOW. Barrio means "Ghetto".

Not sure of that hotel chubobby, but I am going to be staying at Paraise Del Sol, in Cabarette. It's an AI, so am not expecting chica friendly, but for the price, it is well worth it, and spend a little extra for the odd night in town at a chica friendly hotel. ie the Palace.

I'm going to be in POP and Sosua in September too, but unfortunately before you arrive. However can you tell me more about the barrio scene? (I haven't heard the phrase before).

  12. #213
Ok fellas, this will be short and to the point. I'm a fellow monger that has been to D.R. three times in six months so yes, I'm familiar with sosua and puerto plata. My spanglish is enough to get by. I will be returing to POP on Sept 18th to 23rd spending 2 days in POP and the remaining 3 in sosua.
Anyone looking to have a hang out buddy while you're there, leave me a message. I'm more into the barrio scene and non-pros. hehehe..you can find real gems there !

Is anyone familiar with "Paraiso De Colon" Hotel in Puerto Plata / Sosua? Both 'Expedia' and 'Travelocity' are offering great deals under $500 r/t airfare + stay at this hotel for 4 days. Question is: is this Paraiso De Colon Chica/Guest friendly? And, if I stay there and it is not chica/guest friendly, can I find motels for quickie encounters in the area?

    Ender,

"1) Stay in Puerto Plata or Sousa? Or both? I like the idea of a Beach town, but might like the size/action of Puerto Plata. Thoughts?"

I would stay in Sosua. When people think or make travel arrangements, they are usually directed to Playa Dorado, which is a resort community. Sosua is definately more liberal in the fact it is a town. I personally like Puerto Plata because of the bars and clubs, although, for a first timer, and not being able to get around, Sosua is a better fit for you.

"Since I'm on the younger side (of my 30's that is) and speak Spanish fairly well. I usually like to try my luck with the non-pros. Anyone suggest a local Bario. Location for the amateur pick up? Or even better small towns near by?"

I think thats the best way to go. If you see something you like, and she is alone, just introduce yourself. I have found out that the Dominican women won't make prolonged eye contact, only the working ones. I go to Montellano, there is a huge club there, its called Brisas de Camu. You have to go when someone is playing there.
Personally, there are just too many places to see.

I just got back last week, and did a 45 minute trip from Puerto Plata to Santiago through the "lomas"...mountains. It was awesome. Santiago had some beautiful women, but being that it was my first trip there, I really didnt know the ropes. Ill go back through Santiago via Jet Blue, then rent a car from there to goto POP.

Bottom line is this. The working women will pick you up. I cant stand them at all. I would rather "weekend warrior" with a non working chica.

    Doe Boy,

Great Stuff, I enjoyed very much reading your post. It brought back great memories of my visit to POP and Blackbeards. I am hoping to visit again on my Christmas break.

I am looking forward to reading my posts.
