I guess I've been going to the wrong motels. Because I've never found one in the states where you could pull right in to an empty garage to claim a room, and never need to check in at a front desk.

Motel simply means motor hotel. It has nothing to do with checking in. It has everything to do with the proximity of parking the motor vehicle; right in front of the building or inside the building as with the garage you are talking about.

In Dominican Spanish they just happen to call it a cabaña, but in other Spanish speaking countries as well as Portuguese speaking Brazil, it is called a motel. The ones in Brazil can even have swimming pools and waterfalls and shit in or attached to the room.

What would the pros and cons be expense wise? Good or bad idea? Trying to gauge if the out of pocket expenses would be worth it considering that I keep hearing its expensive.

This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but I figured I would put I out here for the benefit of others. There are apartment complexes made just for short visits. They are kind of impressive to be honest. Each apartment has a garage on the First floor, if the garage door is open, that apartment is available.

This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but I figured I would put I out here for the benefit of others. There are apartment complexes made just for short visits. You drive in, close the door, and walk up the stairs. Upstairs you will find a bedroom, and Bath. There is a small access door on the back wall. Someone will knock. It's designed for privacy, so you won't see them. You pay them for the room, and beer, condoms if you pay extra, and they pass fresh towels and soap through to you. After your time is up. You get back in your car and drive away. You never see a single employee. I wish this system was used more places. It was perfect.

-Problem #2: I speak zero Spanish. None. That decision to take French in high school really biting me in the ass.

Long story, short: not comfortable and didn't know enough Spanish to do anything about it.

If you have plans to continue to visit Spanish speaking countries what someone else did in high school will not help you. I don't consider that useful advice. Studying the language and then speaking with native speakers will help you. And once you have a command of the language then you can leverage that across all Spanish speaking countries.

It is never a good thing to have a male intermediary when seeking pussy on in the Dominican Republic. I have found that if a girl is helping you the results are better. Punta Cana has a reputation for being more expensive than average that the rest of the country. Do not be afraid to just say no and walk out of a situation you don't like. Watch how things change for you at that point. This is a hustle country. If you allow them to hustle you they will. No is universally understood.

A story from Sosua. I went to get a manicure and the lady asked me for 600 pesos. I told her (in Spanish of course) that I lived in Santo Domingo and I was not going to pay that. My girl in Santo Domingo does a manicure and pedicure for 600 pesos. She then told me 300 pesos and invited me to take a seat in her salon.

Dominicanas are notoriously conflict averse physically. They are quick to resort to weapons. Individuals following you can be a dangerous situation. Goto ground. Buy a drink and wait them out if that what it takes. POLITUR is a better choice than PN if you actually need to seek help from the police.
