Is the mountain road (Bartomo) faster during that time? Google maps show 3 diff. routes each taking between 1 hr 4 mins to 1 hr 27 mins as below. Is it really that fast, how much padding should i add?
This time I am renting a car and not messing with the taxis.

    Suggested routes

    1.
    1 hour 4 mins
    Av Bartolome Colon
    63.7 km
    2.
    1 hour 18 mins
    21 and 5
    85.7 km
    3.
    1 hour 27 mins
Carretera Navarrete Puerto Plata and 5
    99.8 km
I have driven many a time to Santiago from Sosua on the mountain road. It is safe and usually not much of traffic. For the first time driver at night maybe a problem because of the fog and twisting roads. But daytime is not a problem.
I have made it in 45 minutes from sosua town to near the Casino in santiago where the monuments are. I do not know where the airport is. I have never taken the national highway via Puerto Plata. It is very crowded especially during the daytime and for a time I believe it also goes through the mountains. Location of STI maybe right on the highway. If you can negotiate the local roads in Santiago it is better to take the mountain road.

About and hour and a half no matter which way you go. I am fairly sure someone will chime in to dispute my claim but, since I make the trip at least two to three times weekly I am pretty sure about it. Over the mountains it takes a little longer because the road is really bad at some stretches. The highway through puerta plata is just long. I am not sure about this other route because I never go that way.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights bars are open. Friday and Saturday nights they stay open later. Passions supposedly stays open late, it is a club with pro chicas, off the main road from the airport when heading toward santiago city. If you go directly to passions from the airport, your luggage will be with you. Whether you can encounter an honest taxi driver who will make sure your luggage is secure while you visit passions, I don't know.

Casa Blanca and Ilusios are the two other places with pay for play chicas in Santiago.

There are many cabanas near passions. Cabanas are 4 hour or longer room rentals, prices range from $3 to over $30 per 4 hours. You could potentially take a taxi from the airport (sti) to passions, pick out a chica, pay her probably over $100 and take her to a cabana. You can stay in the cabana till the morning and then you will need a taxi to come and pick you up to take you to the bus terminal.

Pay for play in Santiago is not cheap.

With the exhorbitant cost of flights to POP, and cheap flights, including Spirit, this info is needed more and more. Thanks in advance for your help.

Flying into STI - Late night (or middle of the night)

    Need a CHEAP room:

    1) Please give a name of a hotel near airport?
    2) Please give a name of hotel near Metro Tours?
3)What is taxi price from STI to Metro Tour bus station?
-The nearest "cheap" hotel (non roach infested) is probably the Colonial
-there is no hotel near Metro as I recall
-STI to station - 25-35 dollars - standard price from airport to anywhere in the city

Santiago is a totally different animal from Sosua - there is No type of New Garden scene there.

Sosua - is a vacation spot - Santiago is a regular city.

    Thanks.
Hotel Platino and Hotel Aloha Sol are chica friendly hotels in Santiago. From what I have read, some pros hang around the New Garden Hotel to service clients. When I stayed at Hotel Platino, I did not see any Pro chicas hanging around.

Hotel Aloha Sol I did not see any pro chicas hanging around on the inside of that hotel. 1/2 block from the Aloha Sol Hotel there is a casino in the Hodelpa Centro Plaza Hotel, at night some pros hang around that casino.

From what I saw in Santiago, I did not see any hotels that resemble New Garden Hotel, in having Pro chicas who just hang around waiting for clients.

Pay for play in Santiago is not the easiest.

There is an exchange house one block or two west of hotel Aloha Sol on Sol St. on the same side of the street where Aloha Sol is. Very good rates.

You are correct, the bus stops on the highway.
