I have been told Vitra is a good, new disco in Santiago. Maybe it is located near Hotel Matum.

This is the first I've heard of Vitra. Are there working chicas there, or is it strictly a regular disco? I'm going to check it out in either case. Luv the regular discos in Santiago, as I've had a good amount of success with the non-pros there.

I don't remember there being any hotels like you're looking for close to STI and Pasions. A ton of cabanas, but no decent hotels to my knowledge. But don't worry, you're still getting there pretty early if you're just planning to hit the chica bars. I generally don't get to Pasions, Illusions, or Casa Blanca before 11:00 anyway. And the later you wait to salida a chica, the better your chance of negotiating a good price. I don't even start narrowing down a choice before 1 or 2am.

With an 8:30 flight, you'll have more than enough time to get to your hotel, shower and change clothes, and still get out to the chica bars with time to spare. I once had a delayed AA flight that got me into STI at 3am. But Illusions was still open and popping!

Next question I have, are there any hotels by STI and Pasions? I saw Hodelpa Garden court but it might be out of my range. I am looking at aloha sol or matum rates, if not I'll just have to go there put my bags and head to pasions. My flight arrives at 8:30pm so I should have enough time.

Hotel Platino is another hotel, chica friendly, on Avenida estrella sadhalla, about $60 per night. If you stay at aloha del sol you can walk up to the monument. Hotel Matum sits facing the monument.

Albertos Suites is probably the cheapest place, it is about 3-4 blocks from the monument.

I am just about 100% certain there is only one international airport in Santiago. Look at the Google map for santiago. STI airport is off of autopista duarte, about ten minutes from passions. Santiago is relatively civilized so you shouldn't have any problems there.

Metro bus puts you closer to hotel new garden, from the metro bus stop in Sosua, you can walk to new garden hotel in about 5 minutes. Maybe Metro is one or two dollars more expensive than Caribe Tours. Metro Bus station in Santiago appears it is closer to any of the hotels you may stay at. Caribe tours station in Sosua is on the other side of playa sosua, it would be a long walk from there to new garden hotel.

If your flight gets in late at STI, the car rental office might be closed. A one day car rental, probably not worth it for $60-70 dollars (a one week rental is about $220). After you return the car at Puerto Plata Airport, you would have to pay a taxi to take you into Sosua.

You might be better off taking Metro Bus from Santiago. Metro Bus will let you off in El Batey, Sosua, about two blocks from New Garden Hotel. Caribe Tours will let you off in Charamicos, Sosua and you will have to take a taxi or moto to get to El Batey, Sosua.

From the Google map, appears the Metro Bus Station is off of Avenida Estrella Sadhalla. Aloha Del Sol hotel is less than 10 minutes from that bus station. Appears the Caribe Tours bus station in the northwest part of the city is further away from the Aloha Del Sol hotel.

How much is a taxi ride from STI airport to Aloha sol? I am spending one night in STI before I leave to POP. Wondering if I should rent a car instead of paying taxi from airport to aloha, aloha to pasions and back. I can then drive the car to Sosua next day and drop it off at POP airport. I checked with carrental site and there is no additional charge to dropping off at POP.

It's about US$15. There used to be a sign with all the prices but it looked like it was erased. Travelling from any airport in the DR always will be higher than traveling inside the city. That is why it costs $25+ from POP to Sosua and $20 from SDQ to Boca Chica.

The same site offers collision damage insurance for 11$ a day which is much less than if you buy from budget. So its like 70$ +gas to go around STI and drive to POP the next day.

I have done some driving in DR, from SD to Boca chica and little bit in Sosua, to caberte etc. Driving at night on the highways is pretty hard so I only plan to do that during the day. My spanish is pretty limited and i am traveling solo this time.

Much intra city transfers cost from 100 to 150 pesos, to Passions which is outside the city can cost up to 250 pesos.

What prices are they giving you for a one day rental?

When I drove at night in Santiago, I never saw Policia Nacional stopping cars. I read recently that policia nacional are stopping cars in Santiago at night, I am not sure if it is true.

Renting a car or taking a taxi, will depend on how much drinking you want to do, and if you want to have to deal with the police if they pull you over after you have had a few beers. I haven't been in Santiago in a while, so I don't know if the policia nacional there are becoming like the ones in Santo Domingo. I will still drive.
