    Santiago 2of2

While we were talking (she doesn't speak English) she tapped my shoulder and showed me her hands she was simulating me (you know) and then she pointed to her mouth. We went back to the hotel. I will spare you the rest.

I am going back big time!

For our friends who live on the east coast there's no reason for you to waste time in Tijuana. Only if you have to come to San Diego then it would make sense. Otherwise, you will be wasting time and money.

This was my first trip and made many mistakes but there is a learning curve and on my next trip I will be better prepared.

Lastly, it has been said that there is no racism in DR but that really isn't true. It's quite complex and those you haven't been there you can PM me I can my" experience" on that matter.

    Santiago

This is my first complete report for Santiago. I was there from 9/10 to 9/15. Unlike most of the folks on this board I come from the west coast. I was able to arrange round trip air fare to Santiago for 125$. I wanted to do Santo Domingo but less flights were availaible. I did not attain regular member status until after I arrived to Santiago.

On my First day, I arrived in Santiago at 9:30am and went to the Hotel Platino. It's not Renaissance Jaragua but it's very clean and they have several cuties who work there. They flirted with me throughout my stay i.e (we're gonna miss you and when are you coming back?). Anyway, I checked into a room which has mini fridge stocked with several El Presidentes' , 7-up , Pepsi, Whiskey , Vodka; you name it. They also have toiletries mouthwash and toothpaste if you need it. It will be added on your bill if you use it.

Later that evening,I went to to a place and brought a woman back. As we walked through the lobby the girl I brought in knew the hotel clerk. At first, I was embarrassed but the folks there were cool. Like if they were cheering me on. When we got in the room the fee 3mil plus exit fee (sounds steep) we had DFK, BBBJ, CFS and Russian. It was nice but the girl was quite pushy. I sent her away. Next day is Santo Domingo. (brief description is in Santo Domingo area).

I took Sunday off. On this day there isn't much to do most of the shops close down . (This might be a good day to arrange a date since not much happens) On Monday, the lady at the front counter asks me where is here friend? I thought about it and gave her another shot. She came over that morning another 3mil and it was excellent. After we were done she cleaned my room and took all of my dirty clothes home with her and cleaned them. She came back with the clothes and then we "hit the sheets" again. After that, we went out for dinner a place called "Markula" or something it's like a cowboy Steakhouse. It's quite good 900 pesos for 2 people.

I don't believe Hotel Platino is new at all, but a nice place to stay. Here's the number and e-mail: (809) 721-7576, e-mail hotelplatino@verizon.net.do. I paid about RD$1489/nite w/o reservation.

In addition to be near Pasions, etc., there's also Casino Diamonte very near, where some semi-pros pop in.

Taxi from the airport should run you no more than RD$300-400, probably less. Before leaving the USA, contact ServiTaxi (809-581-0000) and ask them to send a taxi for you. Get a price quote and tell them when you're arriving. Usually do this the day before, or the day of. Never had a problem with them, and they don't try to take advantage of you.

Going back to the airport, either arrange the same thing, or get cool with a cabbie in town and pay him less (RD$200) off the books. I had a daytime cabbie, and a nighttime cabbie. Both gave me great rates around town, and appreciated the steady business.

    Hello- Santiago

    1. 10$ to 15$ is reasonable

    2. My girlfriend arranged 100rd to return me to the airport.

    3. Pasions and Ilusions are close to Hotel Platino (nearly impossible to find if you never been there before)

    4. Same goes for the Carwashes Kelvin and especially Gomez.

    5. It helps to have a phone up there.

This is a mini report regarding Santiago. A more complete report will follow when I return to the United States. First , when you arrive at Santiago Airport and go through customs excetera you can get a taxi outside that will take you to Santiago. It will cost you 15$ . We were waiting to get a rental car, and when the crowds cleared, the cabbies wanted $10. If you need a nice place with hot showers ,cable tv and air conditioning; I recommend the Hotel Platino.

The Hotel is like new with a Spanish style tiles and will only cost you 30-35$ per day. They speak English well and you can have guests if you desire. It's also close to Pasions and Ilusiones that is you can just mention it to the taxi drivers and they will know.

    Its about 5-7 minutes away!

The room I chose was small because that's all that I need. If you require a larger one they have those too.

If you're here for more than a coulpe of days you must go to Santo Domingo. It's about 2 hrs by bus 150 pesos or 7$ you can take El Caribe or Metro. Either one is ok and both have air conditioning that is very good.

Do you have to leave the cabanas early in the morning? Can't you stay there for 2-3 days in a row?
You are paying for 3-4 hour blocks. You decide how long you want to stay.

Horus was always my first choice, The newest is Bora Bora, two door down from Helios. Although nice, they seem overpriced since they are not much better than the other Two.

I get confused, but either Helios or Horus has some new units including one called "modern". It is complete with stripper pole and disco lights. Does anyone know which one?
