Fantasy, can you describe your experience at el Napolitano? I was there last July and it was recently remodeled and very nice. Is something wrong with that hotel? Intercontinental looks nice, but never have been there.

I think that if I pay for a room I must have the right to bring anybody to it because I am "the owner" of the room for the period I am paying. The hotel must inform guests if they do not allow visitors before we pay for a reservation. I have been in Santo Domingo four times, first time was in Jaragua when it was a girl friendly hotel. It was very easy to take a girl from the merengue bar, from nearby Lapsus or from some bars from El malecon to my garden view room. My second time was at El Melia, it was girl friendly too. There was no need to register the girls at the lobby. Third time was at the Jaragua again, this time I met a girl in Merengue bar but the guard in the garden did not let me to take the girl to my room, they were tracking me from the merengue bar to my room with their walkie talkies. I used a very cheap luxurios motel going west in the Malecon. Last time was at el Napolitano, this one is the only 100% girl friendly hotel in el malecon. I called this week and the price for a room is $84.00 daily, taxes included.

Fantasy, Thanks your reply. Your link on your site with Remington does not seem to be working yet. Can you let me have your email address for some direct contact. Are most of the girls at Remington white?

New to this board. Haven't been to the DR in a few years. Business is bringing me back the second week of July to Santo Domingo.

    Had some specific questions.

    1) Is Santo Domingo still relatively safe for gringos?

    2) Does a "bar" scene exist in Santo Domingo similar to the ones in Brasil & Argentina where one can go in, see a bunch of program girls, and then choose one and leave. If such places exist in Santo Domingo--please provide the names of the establishments and the addresses.

    3) If Bars don't exist like this in Santo Domingo--how does one practice the hobby in the capital city?

    4) What's the going rate for the night with a hot young girl in Santo Domingo?

Any help with these questions will be much obliged (see my posts on the Buenos Aires forum and archive).

I'll be sure to right a full report of my adventure.

    Thanks!

Can anyone tell me if Melia Santo Domingo is girl friendly? How about run down on any current hot spots in Santo Domingo. Is Remington still open?

    1. Cafe Madrid: This place was happening on a saturday night. A nice bar/club, free admission, small dance floor, music was merangue, (of course), salsa, and Rock in espanol. Young crowd and it started breaking up @ 3 a.m.

    2. Monte Cristo: This is a combo sports bar and dancing. Again, a young crowd, free admission, and worth a visit for a drink or two.

    3. Jetset: A little more upscale and Monday is the best night with a live band. There is always a cover.

4.Fantasy: A little dark inside and they keep the air conditioner cranked. Bouncer seems tough, but he is not. Small dark dance floor and large bar. Order a drink, look for a chica, and stick your hand out. You will be on the dance floor in a minute and take it from there.

Guest & non Guest Friendly Hotels:

There are many hotels in this city but not all are guest friendly. The Hotel El Napolitano, at $70 per night with a safe is guest friendly, (809-687-1131, has 75 rooms.). It is located in the Malecon(Beachfront Avenue) area. The Ramada Jarugua,,(809-945-0792) a 4 star, with large swimming pool, casino, 4 restaurants and a Health Club, is no longer guest friendly. The Melia Hotel is another non guest friendly hotel. It is two doors down from the Marriot. The V Centenario Hotel, A 4 star, (809-221-0000, has 171 rooms.) nother guest friendly hotel. Hotel Santo Domingo , (809-221-1511), Hispaniola Hotel and Casino, (809-221-7111, has 165 rooms.), Gran Hotel Lina and Casino, (809-563-5000, has 220 rooms.), are other choices.

    Clubs
The Remington Palace is a must, at 1,500 pesos per night. Another Club is The Mona Lisa. All you need to do is hire a taxi for the night or a few hours. They will take you everywhere.
