.What's the situation for buying Viagra or Cialis (name brand or generic) over the counter? Easy? Expensive? .

A few months ago I stopped at a pharmacy near the hospital (low rise hotel zone.) I was told that all "vitamin" V, C and L-like items are only by prescription. I instantly got a feeling that she expected me to come up with a "counter-offer" to pay the "tourist prices", but, fortunately for me, my La Pela from DR is working for me just fine.

Stabilo, perhaps you'll have better luck in other pharmacies, but even there I would expect to pay fairly high prices.

Headed for Aruba in a few days for, umm, activities. What's the situation for buying Viagra or Cialis (name brand or generic) over the counter? Easy? Expensive?

A couple of years ago, I bought one V (Pfizer) at a pharmacy next to the main bus station in Oranjestad and it was very high. Like $15 or $17 for the one pill. But I think that was the tourist price.

I rented a car in Aruba and believe that is the best option. I saw many people waiting at bus stops and not a lot of buses on the road. Also, a car gets me to San Nicolas whenever I get the urge.

Walked the back streets near Charlie's Bar an saw an older (40's) Columbiana on day one. She was a hot mama. She asked 50 but readily accepted the offer of 40. Good service and well worth the 40. The room was bleak but served the purpose. On day two I had a Dominicana, not as good. Same price but she wanted to rush me out or take more $ as half hour approached. Mechanical service. Wish I had seen the Columbiana again. Maybe today.

There was a guy calling and following me around. Not sure if he was pimping for some of the girls, he said 30 and pointed to a black girl, or if he was trying to sell me drugs. I waived him off and he finally gave up. Not a threat, just a nuisance. I'd rather do my own shopping. There were lots, maybe 10-20 girls hanging around the alleys outside their rooms. Most were 5-6-7's. Didn't see any 8+ girls. I was there in the daytime because driving at night didn't seem like a good idea. Maybe more selection after dark, not sure about that. Charlie's Bar was open in the daytime but most other bars appeared to be closed and would open after 5:00.

All the of the information you seek is on this thread. Just read through it. The island is only about 15 miles long, but timing traffic is everything given that you will have to venture through Oranjasted to get to SN. I like the flexibility of a rental car, but cannot comment on the bus schedule or taxi although either will get you to and from.

Thanks again Ricardo for the information. Will be there with friends but I will have time to get away to SN to playtime. Always check out TripAdvisor for info too. Have a car for the couple weeks so will make a few trips to SN when time is right. Staying at an apartment over east of Eagle Beach that is quiet and cheap.

You have many excellent restaurants to choose from near the hotels Holiday Inn, Occidental, Brickel Bay and others. Benihanas, Texas de Brazil, and in the Marriott Stellaris is Ruth Criss Steakhouse. All are great and would highly recommend them for dinner. There is some decent nightlife in this same area, but do not expect to find any pay for play. I actually have never came across any in these bars in this area, and I have been to Aruba probably over 15 times, and I like to party, so I am always out and about. My recommendation for a hotel is the Marriott Stellaris. I have seen it rated as the best hotel in Aruba, and I have never been disappointed. Along with the Ruth Criss Steakhouse on the property, it has the largest casino in Aruba, and part of the hotel is adults only. The beach at the hotel is also fantastic. You can find some good deals sometimes on travel search engine websites such as Kayak, Expedia, Priceline, and also Jet Blue has had this hotel listed at a good price in there vacation packages.

Aruba is not really a place to go in search of beautiful women, but a destination for couples. If you happen to find someone to take out for dinner, I would very highly recommend "The Flying Fishbone" Restaurant. I put that on my must do list anytime I travel to Aruba. You might also want to take the drive to Baby Beach, as it is a nice little drive, and is an excellent beach. There are a couple of areas that are very close to Baby Beach where you can turn off and have your own private beach for the most part.

About safety: it most definitely is safe. I know of people parking their bikes there and leaving the keys in. However it most certainly looks kind of fishy and I can imagine it doesn't *feel* safe for first time visitors. But again, it is. Never heard of anyone having trouble there.

Agree. Saint Nics is safe and a good time.

The only thing that I didn't like was that Saint Nics is sooo far from where all the resorts and beaches are. About 40 min drive each way. What a pain. Otherwise, I would say that the quality is a slight notch below SXM. It reminded me of Pachi's at Bonaire. The upside is that other than punting, Aruba is an overall great vacation destination.

I have been going to Aruba for over 15 yrs. Room service girls are sight unseen, takeout is to expensive and you have to feed them and hangout with them. Charley Sheen says I don't pay them to sleep with me I pay them to leave when I'm done. San Nicholas is like an all you can eat buffet. You can have as many as you like all for under $50US. Just go to Charleys Bar as a reference. Walk across the St to Carlinas Bar. If you don't see what you like walk back towards Charleys and turn left at the end of the street are 2 bars with a bunch of girls hanging out. If you don't like the selection round the corner and behind the bars on the street to the left there are more girls. The end of that St all a short walk Carolinas will be on your left. Repeat your Lurking. After an early evening in San Nicholas about 6-10:30 I go back to Palm Beach and hit the dance bars until 3am. Have fun I book the month of March every Year.

Great plan of attack, I didn't do the clubs every night because I wanted to get a lot of good beach time in, too. I agree on San Nicolas although the area doesn't offer a lot to do while you're waiting around. The girls are sometimes available during the day, you can invite them up and they will hang out for a while for the same $50-$100 you'd blow in San Nic. I never tried escorts there, always seems like a hassle.
