With the major Netherlands Antilles Islands of St Maarten & Curacao soon going the route of becoming separate entities under the Dutch Kingdom Umbrella, there is also the real possibility that they will adopt the US Dollar as their main currency and the Guilders/Florins will disappear completely.

The Guilders/Florins has been pegged to the US Dollar since 1971 with a fixed exchange rate of 1.79 Guilders/Florins = US$1.00.

I'm planning for CUR trip early Oct. I noticed that American airlines, only has one flight per day out of Miami to CUR (4:30PM) and one flight per day from CUR to Miami (7:50AM).

I'm going to rent a car, but the rental co. at Hato don't open 'til 7:00AM. My question is if I show up at the airport at 6:00AM will the check in counter be open at that time (caribbean easy and all).

I thought I'd come early, park the car, check in, go to rental desk at 7am and then go to customs. The other alternative would be to return the car on my last night, take taxi to Campo from Airport take a taxi back to the hotel in the morning after feeding and taxi or hotel shuttle (if available) to the airport after checkout. I don't think staying at Campo is an option with luggage plus diving gear. This is really a pain. Scews up my last night.

Anyone had to deal with these logistics? Any suggestions?

I am almost always on that flight when I leave. When you pick up your car, let them know your return flight time. They will either have someone there or tell you to lock the car and drop the keys in a box at their counter.

Normally at least 50% are fat and butt ugly. Also lotsa customers and competition for stunner girls.

Take the daily Avianca to Bogota and the variance is enormous. By compariison the Colombiana is delicious and the non-colombiana of Campo can be startling.

I would just go there, I believe most(if not all) girls would do that since you are paying to them. Or look for girls hanging out in pairs(so they are girlfriends), they usually propose those kinds of things themselves.

Make sure your friends do not overpay. If its 2 girls then its 2 x Fl50 = Fl100.
Not 2 x Fl100 as some of them may try to charge double for "especiales". But of course they will agree for the normal price.

I used the same trip schedule about a month ago. Got to the airport early, since it was my first time leaving CUR, and found the Avis rental counter closed. The security guard told me to just leave the keys locked in the car if I did not need any paperwork from the counter. I did so, and had no problem.

Returning a car is no problem. The desks at the car rentals are open VERY early.

Sorry about that boys, it would be helpful to post a date. We were in Campo 8-26-09. On Tuesday nights, there is a little bonus for going on this glorious off beat day…..Local ladies are permitted to enter on this evening and it is packed with Dutch and Local girls dancing and viewing the action. We also witnessed many going back for a threesome. The girls here seem to have full autonomy to choose their guests. So, if it is a guy and his girl, why not or better yet 3 girls…. The extra guests had no visual effects on the action; it seemed to achieve a party like atmosphere more than anything.
