Are you in Trinidad presently or are you planning a trip? And if you're heading down for Carnival and are planning to rent a car, then start NOW. My choice is always Econo-Car Rentals. They have 3 locations: by the marinas in Chaguaramus, Cocorite (main office) and Piarco. I go several times a year, usually for 10 days to 2 weeks each visit. I pay them, on average, about TT$150 per day for each stint. I book online as far in advance as possible. If you just appear at the airport upon arrival they'll almost invariably tell you they're out of cars at the moment and if you move along to another rental counter you'll end up paying anywhere from TT$250-400 per day. So turning up at the airport "cold turkey" is just not going to work in your favor. My brother keeps his sailboat at Chaguaramus so we're accustomed to getting the "Yachtsman's Rate" from Econo and have done so for years now, but I don't see why you shouldn't try to get the same kind of deal. Just tell them you want to pick up and return at Piarco. BTW, always have a good thorough look in the trunk to make sure you have a decent spare and the necessary tools for changing a tire. Invariably, when you have bad luck and hit one of those infamous Trinidadian potholes it's 2 in the morning in the middle of nowhere. I also recommend bringing along a flashlight to keep in the car. Also, I don't advise buying insurance from the rental company. In my case, the VISA card I use to rent the vehicle covers the CDW. Check with your credit card issuer in advance.

As for short time hotels, it's been awhile since I needed one but Trinidad should still have a lot throughout the country. I recall several "knocking shops" along the Southern Main Road going from around Cunupia down through Chaguanas, Couva, an on toward San Fernando. They used to charge anywhere from TT$80-120 for several hours. Some used to pipe really bad "romantic" music right into your room and there was no way to control it. My favorites spots were Hotel California in Arima, Douggie's in Dow Village, Queen Bee in Enterprise, and Copper Kettle in town. They're probably all still there, but possibly with different names.

Forget about regular hotels during Carnival week. It's the one window of opportunity during the year for the hotels to gouge and they do so with a vengeance, especially in or anywhere near POS.

As far as pro/semi-pro overnight or LT tarifs go, that will depend on your "charm factor" combined with your negotiating skills and just how much she needs the money. I find Trini women to be much more savvy about this these days than they were, say, 10 years ago. The *****houses used to be full of great local talent. Now they're by and large all chicas from South America. This is great if you like chicas and can communicate with them as they usually don't speak English more than "fucky-fucky" and "sucky-sucky". Personally, I'd take a nice creole or dogla any day over a chica I can scarcely even talk to, but "to each his own". But I digress. Back to tarifs: I usually begin with a low-ball offer of TT$350-400 for overnight service and generally end up agreeing to between TT$500-800 (US$100-150) depending on how entranced I am by my object of desire.

If you read back on this board, I seem to recall you'll come across a few references to escort services which advertise in the Guardian and Express classified sections. These tend to have spotty results at best. Anyhow, I always prefer to see it and touch it before I buy it.

Good luck and don't forget to keep us posted. Cheers.

    POS hotels

It's been a few years since I had to find hotels around POS, but I used to have good luck in Woodbrook which is rather strategically located right between downtown and St. James. Robin might have more up-to-date 411, but I seem to recall Schultsie's in Fitt St. , Villa de French (as well as another immed. To its right, can't remember the name) in French St. , both these are right off Ariapita Ave. Then there was Monique's in Maraval and a couple on the way, near Hi-Lo. Also, Alicia's (in St. Ann's? ). Then there was always the old reliable Copper Kettle downtown. And what about the Scarlet Ibis in St. Augustine? I know it got done over a couple of years ago and might have a new name. Try consulting the Rough Guide to T & T. It's a quite reliable resource.

The thing I like about Trinidad is that you don't always have to be right in "town" to be at the center of things (Carnival notwithstanding, of course). Some of my most successful exploring for ladies has been outside POS. Arima, San Fernando, Chaguanas, Point Fortin, as well as the smaller towns throughout Trinidad, are full of eligible young ladies. And remember that in the more remote locales, you stand a better chance since you'll be a "bigger fish" as a foreigner (especially if you're white) in the eyes of the locals. And you'll do really well if you have a local "contact" who can show you the ropes, at least at first. Of course, all this presumes you can rent a car; but if that's not possible, then you are, admittedly, more constrained in your wanderings. I go to Trinidad 2 or 3 times a year and rarely even venture into POS anymore as I have so many reasons to remain elsewhere.

For example, one of my objectives is to find a ladyfriend asap upon arrival and head up to the village of Grande Riviere on the north coast, beyond Toco, and spend a few days on the beach. There are several nice hotels some of which are right on the beach, with good food and lovely surroundings. Feel free to PM me for details if you want.

The rather unfortunate fact about Trinidad, from a mongering point of view. At least, is that it has undergone such tremendous prosperity over the last decade that it is definitely no longer the third world country it was when I first went down some 20 years ago. There used to be the most wonderful spots to pick up local women. Some were *****houses, others just plain bars or clubs. The pros nowadays are almost all Hispanic, most non-English-speaking working in relatively unpleasant venues. Although, that said, I did recently manage to find a delightful local girl at the Santa Maria (aka Dad's Dan) in Chase Village just below Chaguanas.

The fact remains that, despite Trinidad's new-found prosperity, the divide between rich and poor is ever widening. As a foreigner, albeit extremely comfortable and at-home in their culture, I really find that these days I have alot less competition outside POS when it comes to my mongering exploits within the more provincial areas of the country. I will always have a particular weakness for the stunning pride exhibited in Trinidadian women and that's a trait to be found just as much in the countryside as in "town".

That is as cheap as you will get it for a hotel in that part of Port-of-Spain. The other options are between 250-300. of course there is always Crews-Inn in Chaguramas that is like 150 - 190. But it is a bit out of the way.

    A weekend in Trini

Spent a weekend in Trini, it was too short

Arrived on Wed evening in POS, driving is on the left so I did not dare rent a car. If you want some real action with non pros, a car is indispensable.

I left the luggage at a neat hotel close to Ariapita Ave and found a transportation to Sabor Latino. Closed.

Even small bars on Ariapita were all quite dead, so I gave up and went sleeping.

Thur morning got up early, it was a sunny day so I took a cab to Downtown, and there a maxi to Las Cuevas and had an amazing Shark'n'Bake at Sam's with everything in. Definitely a must do.

I learned that Fri, Sat, and especially Sun the party at Las Cuevas is the best on Island, just do not attempt without a car and by yourself.

Got back with some friends met at the beach. People are really friendly there, just choose the right ones if you do not want to be robbed. They took me back to Hotel and I offered to pay the gas.

Thursday night at sabor latino starts around 11:30, salsa was not much but the action was great. Met a nice venezuelana, had a couple of drinks and some kissing but she did not bite when I invited to spend night over.

Friday, went to Downtown, weather was not promising. I saw a couple of ladies looking at me while I was looking for cabs to the beach. I took a walk around and then entered a street mall to look for some food. That was a great idea. All ladies working at the shopping were there and I got 2 good numbers.a gorgeous black lady called S. Taller and prettier than me- and a petit indian girl T. With nice face and great body.

I spend Friday with the first, took for dinner and dancing to 32 degrees and to my room for a good GFE session. I take my precaution, so everything was covered but very hot. We had a two rounds at night, these Trini girls never get tired or what! ? Too bad she had to leave for work quite early at morning.no time for the morning round-.

Sat I had arranged everything to go to beach again with a local I met at a bar when I was with S. , but weather was bad so plan B to Movie town and West Mall. Shopping in Trini is fun too, but ladies there are too sophisticated. I guess it was too close to Christmas. Well to say the truth I had eye contact with a young very attractive girl who was with her mom. Of course we are in Trini wo I talked to both and after a pleasant conversation, invited them for cofee at Ritual (local Starbucks). I even got her number but she seemed too slow for my last day there.

Finally I decided to call T and meet her. She found some excuses, so I decided to take a nap, then headed again to Ariapita Av. After talking to a couple of locals, I took off for Zen. Everyone was saying it is a great place to go and I could not miss. It really exceeded my expectations. Lot of action pro and non pros. But to make it short I went back alone for the early flight back to the real world.

Trini I will miss you and will be back soon!

    In-country next week

I'll be in T'dad from Nov 22. Nov 27. Would love to check out the non-pro/semi-pro action in some of the clubs and bars. If anyone will be around and open to hanging out, let me know.

Thanks for all the info in your posts. I'll report when I return.

    Sojourn in Trinidad

Just visited the Bhagna Trace club in Chase village, Chaguanas. There were about 9 or 10 girls all dark skinned , some locals, some Colombians. Sampled Marcela from Cali. Pleasant personality. Big tits, big ass.

    Face……....……….6

    Body….............4

    Room facilities….2

Considering hitting the non-pro clubs in Port of Spain and propositioning some of the female patrons for paid sex in my hotel room. Perhaps mongers who have tried this could state their success rate. I do not have time for three dates before a pop.

The alleged owner of Villa Capri died recently and it is rumoured that the establishment will soon no longer be in operation. Has anyone else heard this?

    Hotel advice

Will spend a weekend in POS, looking for a quiet small hotel, I do not like Marriott's... but I might get used if there is nothing else available.

    Any advice is welcome.

I've got vacation in that time frame and am considering Trinidad (that's why I'm reading the posts here). It's a bit far away though, I live in the Vancouver BC area, and am leaning toward Mexico instead to cut back on travel time.
