My first visit here was in 1974 at which time the scene was mainly brothel based. I remember a short time (1/2 hr) being around US$4. The scene changed considerably in the mid 1980's when there was an influx of Latin Americans (mainly Colombians, Dominicans and Venezuelans). I would call the period from then up until the early 2000's the golden period in Trinidad as many senoritas were to be had and a trip to Trinidad was almost as good as a trip to some Latin American destinations.

However, things started changing around the mid-2000's when there started to be a crack-down and since then less and less senoritas are visiting these shores. The brothels are mainly populated by fuglies and a visit to one of them today is a miserable and unsafe experience.

So what is an incorrigible libertine like myself to do while in Trinidad? Visit the escorts advertised in the daily newspapers. This is not recommended for first time visitors to Trinidad as the locations are not easily accessible and when you get thee you may want to leave in a hurry as the fare is meager to say the least. Because of my incorrigibility I have been settling for less than average quality looks wise. However, I must admit that these women (mainly black and Indian locals) genuinely enjoy sex (after 40 years of boinking I know when a woman is genuinely enjoying and when she is faking) and the enjoyment level of these women is way up there in the world (Brazil being the best). Very rarely though I would encounter a diamond in the rough, looks wise.

So basically if you don't have PM and are unable to contact the gentlemen who advertise their services I would recommend you rent a car and visit a number of these escort places until you find what you are looking for. You will be disappointed a lot so you must put aside some time to try to get the best possible experience. The cost in the 'casas' range from US$50 to US$100.

A couple years ago there were some Chinese providers and I had high hopes for the scene in Trinidad. Their service was similar to that in China including being paid after service was provided (in Trinidad you pay before). They did not last long I suspect because they may have been ripped off by local mongers who would have partaken of their services and left without paying (hence the reason why payment is before the deed in Trinidad). My advice, Trinidad is not to be visited solely for mongering but if you do for other touristic purposes, which is recommended here, do give it a try if you are street wise and wish to add a novel experience to your resume.
