I'm sorry Trinidad didn't work out for you, but I have to give you a big thumbs up for your efforts, as you tried both Seeking Arrangement and the Trinidad Express classified ads. And to top that off, you wrote about your experience twice here in the forum. That's not too shabby for a monger who has only a little over a dozen posts on ISG to his name.

Good luck on your next mongering adventure. I would have been heading to Trinidad myself in a couple of weeks, but I couldn't make the flights work and my Trinidad contact was more miss than hit during the months of May and June. So it's off to Vancouver for me very soon.

BTW, the best roti is in St. James streets. Loved the flavors. The best doubles / sahina are in debe. They are all super cheap.

Classifieds: The newspaper is full of them, but my safety concern doesn't let me dial any of them. And if spanish harlem was raided once, it can be raided again. I ain't taking the chance in a foreign country.
Thank you for your trip report and for your kind words. As anyone can see from all of my trip reports, I try to bring back information that mongers can use.

Don't let your safety concern turn you off to the classified ads. The biggest threat you probably have from those is that a WG texts you a picture to entice you into setting up a session, but when she shows up she looks nothing like the picture. I've been told there are quite a few fuglys that post in the classified ads, and also told that there are some stunning jewels to be found, too. But that's part of the fun of mongering!

Keep enjoying yourself and let us know how things are going.

    First Impresseions: Trinidad.

Thanks to everyone for the inputs to this forum, especially at Quagmire1974.

    All $ numbers mean TT $ (1 US $ = 7 TT $).

Arrival / lodging: I arrive in POS a few days ago. I am living in an AirBnB near the which is about 50% cheaper than the good hotels, but still provides an acceptable level of service. It is a short 10 minute taxi ride away. This is a shared taxi that costs $5 one way. To get to the avenue from downtown POS, you go to independence square and take another taxi for $6.

Phone: I bought digicel SIM for $150.10 days, 100 minutes, 1 GB. However I think a better value is to buy the be-mobile SIM. That is 7 days unlimited minutes / data / text. It costs about $170 I think.

Safety: OK, this country is obsessed with crime. *everyone* tells me how foolish I am to be traveling alone and how unsafe it is. Maybe there is some truth to their fears. I yesterday saw a newspaper article about a prison guard being shot dead in broad daylight because he was tough on gang members in prison. Although I didn't feel it, surely the entire world cannot be wrong!

Session: Only one session with one of my SA chicas. USD 100. Multiple positions. 2 hours. Light black. She masquerades as a student, but actually is a hard pro. Super big boobs (one of top 3 I've seen), cute ass, perfect curving back, a little bit of baby fat on tummy. Isn't passionate about sex, but doesn't resist either. Looks - 7.5. I've seen both better and worse than her. I might repeat because of affordable rates, but would ditch if I get someone better. Came on time, and I appreciate that.

Other no-gos: As is often the case, 2 more chicas flaked at the last moment. They were supposed to be paid the same number for same time.

Classifieds: The newspaper is full of them, but my safety concern doesn't let me dial any of them. And if spanish harlem was raided once, it can be raided again. I ain't taking the chance in a foreign country.

I had the pleasure of meeting him during one of his public speaking events a few years ago. Got his autograph in several of his books and a few nice pictures of me standing next to him. The guy had a great voice. When he talked, you knew it was him.

Quite a few articles have been written since his death a few days ago. The most interesting ones I'm finding have been written by a news source called Page Six. From their stories, it appears he had a falling out with his girlfriend (Asia Argento) and snapped. An official in France even said that it appeared Bourdain's suicide was "impulsive."

Call it familiarity bias. I've used SA before and have been very happy with it. This time though my top pick asked me for US $1000 (so TT $ 7000!

I said nothing to her. I could have said, " Are you howling in the moon crazy?" but then I thought what's the point of exchanging shitty messages.

Looks like SA isn't going to be very helpful in T&T. First of all, there just aren't many girls on it, and the ones who are aren't responsive. I liked one and she asked me $1000. Pass.
Respectfully, why are you wasting time with Seeking Arrangement (SA)? I've already mentioned how to monger in Port of Spain: SIM card and pre-paid plan from Digicel and the Trinidad Express classified ads.

Also, was it 1000 US Dollars or 1000 Trinidad and Tobago Dollars? Both the USA and Trinidad / Tobago use the Dollar symbol for their money. I'm willing to bet it was 1000 Trinidad and Tobago Dollars that you were quoted, which is about 142 US Dollars.

Have fun and be safe on your trip. Please let us all know how everything went when you get back.

    Thanks!
Pick up a copy of "The Rough Guide to Trinidad and Tobago." The book does a good job of discussing the logistics, restaurants, hotels, and sights in the Port of Spain chapter.

For money exchange, I used Western Union on the second floor of the Excellent Stores shopping center on Independence Square. You will need to show your passport for the money exchange. Other businesses on Woodford Square offer money exchange, too. I don't use street vendors for money exchange in foreign countries because you never who's watching the transaction.

Can't help you with rideConnect, as I walked everywhere in Port of Spain (and had zero problems doing so).
