I was not changing much at all. I had a flight leaving at 11pm (Delta, of course), so I just wanted some R$s to tide me over before leaving. I just had about $60 US that they changed.

These guys are so lazy they even use multiple pictures of the same porn star under different names. Ie Luna & Abel are both pictures of the euro star ANETTA KEYS.

I got 2.35 two days ago at Action Cambio which is on Ave. Atlantica near the corner of Paula Freitis. They were open on Sunday when I was there in July so this is convenient.

Stop wasting your time and money. The girl is using the oldest trick that they know, not asking money. If she's a working girl as you said she won't change, ever. Remember once a hooker always a hooker.

What you should do is to learn Portuguese, when you've accomplished that you're pretty much free to choose from enormous amount of normal women. Trust me girls in Brasil are dying to meet you if you can communicate with them.

True about Mabs. I was only thinking about those of us who have known the guys there for years. They usually take you into the travel agency in the shop behind Mabs or behind the bar area at night. But Euro is right, please do not try this if you have not been around these people for years.

Isn't changing money at MABs a little dangerous? At Help, they take you to this semi-private enclosure. But I would be uncomfortable to change money at the street cafe. Lots of people that I do not trust hand out there. I saw a car getting broken into right in front of MAB once.

By the way, I am not sure how much L'uomo will let you exchange at once. Each evening I had the same routine: My total bill was always a bit over $100, somewhere between R270 and R310; so I paid with two onehundred dollar bills and got 2.4 exchange rate, with the remainder paid out in reais.

Euro, you got 2.4 at Luomo? That is real good, but then again, they have raised their rates so much they get it back anyway.

I talked to the guys at Mabs, the waiters and the guys who hang around there (I am leaving out names in case you notice) and I mentioned that I only got 2.24 at the airport. As soon as I said that one of them offered me 2.25. When I mentioned a few days later that the rate on Bloomberg was 2.26 he gave me 2.27. So you all might want to ask some of these guys who rent apartments, if you know them, at Mabs.
Also, the maitre'ds at Mabs can help you too. As long as you are spending a little money there they do not care about helping you.

I got offered 2.10R / 1$ at the airport, with a best offer of 2.15. My hotel also had 2.10. Best offer I got was at terma L'uomo at 2.40R / 1$. I think that Help offers the same rate.
