I knew if all else failed, I could venture there for a quality evening of entertainment.

IMO, belem is a city where there is absolutely no need to seek out working girls. There are loads of civilian non pros in the 18-22 age bracket that gave me plenty of attention. I went to an outdoor complex of bars called Vila container which is made up of old storage containers stacked on top of one another. In all I would say there were roughly 15+ bars within the zone. The area was packed with groups of friendly locals and very flirty girls. I admit that I am well passed my prime years. I'm 42, my hairline is beginning to recede and gray hairs are slowly taking over my previous natural color. I relay this information because I want to paint the picture about how much attention I was getting from younger woman half my age. I made out with three girls who initiated the encounters and ended up taking another one back to my hotel for a night of pleasure. The following night I returned to Vila container where I met another group of locals. I've been in Belém for about a week and like everywhere else, the best girls are online now. There are plenty of horny non-pros at the bars and on the street, I often catch myself sharing a look with a good looking lady here. But, most of the girls were in São Brás or other barrios outside Centro and Cidade Velho.

Have fun and don't forget to try all the forest fruit flavors at Cairu. The Amazon Beer at Estação das Docas is incredible. The Cupulate Porter is very good and the IPA is very serviceable. If you are craving a good beer apparently it now exists in Belém, it sure didn't when I was here before! I remember Antarctica being the best around, now Cerpa has export Tijuca and suddenly the beer is good. Oh, and the açaí com peixe at ver-o-peso is to die for. Get it with dourada catfish and make sure your wallet stays in your front pocket while you are there.

The key bars downtown are Paraiso, DVD, and Saideira.

Saideira (formerly Boulevard / Barroco) opens between 10 PM and 11 PM, and can close after sunrise. They are slow to get started but can be full by midnight. Lots of very good looking girls who act and dress like sisters. Plenty of choice, unless you insist on long legs, in which case you are out of luck in Belem. Strip shows every hour or so. R$10 entrance. R$ 10 beers.

Saideira is easy to find with a big sign including a sign advertising guest strippers. Just down from Ver-O-Peso Hotel Their motto is "Where your night of pleasure begins."

I first went to Parasio on a Saturday night around 9 PM. Things were winding down and almost empty by 10 PM. I carpooled with a couple of girls to Saideira only to find it wasn't open yet. We went to Hang Burg to pass the time. Hang is a large open-air restaurant. The food's not good and the live music is very off key, but the atmosphere is great. No girl would refuse an invitation to Enge.

Paraiso opens in the afternoon, R$ 5 entrance. Friday around 6 PM it is packed, at least a hundred girls. These places remind me of junior high dances. The girls stand in groups talking with each other and the boys do the same. Even though there may be more guys than girls there are plenty of girls to choose from.

Paraiso is on the last block of Rua Manoel Barata to the west, easy to miss, no sign. It is right next to Casa de Lampadas down the block from Mundo de Lampadas.

DVD, aka Altas Horas, is very discreet. It's in an old building on Travessa Sete de Septembro around the corner from Paraiso. Number 324 is painted on the right side of the door and 326 is on very small ceramic numbers to the left of the door. Inside the theme is Harley Davidson with a motorcycle on stage in place of a stripper. They open before noon and close by 7:30. Business is slow but a few good looking girls come floating by, a relaxed place to hang out.

My only tirp to Locomotiva was on a Monday about 7:00 PM. The bar was closed, but there were three girls standing in the dark in front of the motel. So, all I know is, don't go there on Sunday or Monday night.

The bar at Rua Gaspar Viana 196 is only open at night and has a bad reputation including the drugging of drinks. During the day, across the street, at number 213 is a small bar right next to the old O Liberal building. It has a tattered banner, see. See. Ribeiro. They were very friendly. I stopped by several times to cool off.

Beirada is but a vague memory.

There is a small bakery / market, Deli Cidade, at Presidente Vargas 325. They have fresh bread and surprisingly good croissants.

I don't know. I havn't been to Beirada since 2008. It's a fun and interesting place to visit, drink beer and watch strange people. 13 bars together in an alley. Caution, it's definitely a dangerous place with lots of bandits. Few taxi-drivers will agree to take you there.

Accurately described in a previous post. I got a taxi from Docas, and was treated to a lecture on how it was too dirty, too dangerous, too nasty and horrible, for anyone to want to go there. I said I agree and take me anyway.

It's actually a lot cleaner than much of Ver-O-Peso, but surrounded by no-man's land for more than a short walk. On the Guama River side of town. A series of bars with disarmingly cute local girls and burly local guys. A refreshingly different slice of life.

On my first night I settled in very late. On my second day I was only walking around. On the 3rd day, today I went to Paraiso. I was supposed to stay at Hotel Grao Para which is walking distance to Paraiso. I showed up at the hotel at 8:30 PM and they said they were still cleaning rooms. What a joke. They said I can wait, and there are people waiting before me, or they will send me to Hotel Sagres. It seemed like an OK deal, since Hotel Sagres costs more, but the location sucks.

Needless to say I only went to Paraiso. Tomorrow I'm going to Manaus and I will be staying in Condomnio do Edifcio Antnio Simoes for 7 nights. I arrived at Paraiso today about 5:30 PM. It can be found on Google Maps. But on Google maps you can see the building painted with Paraiso on it. It isn't painted like that anymore. I missed the place the first time I walked by. Then I looked at the address number on Google maps and the businesses next to it. I found it the second time. I didn't see any sort of sign that said Paraiso. But it is where Google maps shows it.

Entry was 5 Reals. It is hard to estimate how many ladies I saw. I constantly seen ladies that I hadn't seen earlier. One lady walked in to the club before I did and she showed her passport to the security guy. I would estimate maybe 40 ladies work there at a given time. I only counted one gringo, myself included.
