I was in Belem last month, and I liked a lot this destination. So bad I was there only a few days.

The only p4p spot I checked out was the Locomotivo. 2r$ park, 4r$ entrance, 3r$ refrigerante. Many beautiful girls there.
    I had a session with Tatiane, a loira mulata. She asked 80r$ for 1h, 100r$ 3h, negociable.
It was a good session with her, in the Locomotivo Motel.

So many gorgeous girls around, expecialy in the new and old docas area. So easy to know freelancers and semi-pro.

Hope to come back there asap.

    YMMV, as usual.

Spidey's report was great. Everything you need to know about Belem.

I wouldn't give Locomotivo such low marks, though. I have found some great girls there and you can usually negociate a price down below 100 reals.

Also the local beer Cerpa is great.

Goettel, I don't think the Grão Pará had a pool, however I could be misktaken. But for sure the Grão Pará is a great hotel to say at. Very clean, very accommodating, very GF (w/double room) and great cable TV (CNN, Sony, TBS, HBO, HBO2, Cinemax...etc)

    Hotel info and comment

    Spidy,

in my opinion you did just the right thing picking up a girl just on the street. I have seen about two decent boites in Belém during my months there, but never used their services during nighttime. This is just because the nicest looking girls in Belém aren't pro's and it makes more sense picking up in normal clubs and discos. This is what I did and going about this way I had no problem getting BBBJ as well.

About the hotel I became interested; has the Hotel Excelsior Grão Pará got a pool or not? I stayed in the Equatorial the last time and was happy with that as it is at least cheaper than the Hilton, but the hotel where you stayed seems better.

    Hey MS,

That's true, not everything does always goes your way! However wishful thinking goes a long way...as I thought the girls would be very similiar in looks, attitude and fuckablity as my experiences have been in Manaus.

But really...for the most part, its just the adventurer-mongerer in me. I like to check most things out for myself and formulate my own opinions from my experiences, good or bad.

To Belem or not to Belem...

Well this trip, I decided to make a stop in Belem (Jan 2005) and checkout the jungle pussy this side of the Amazon. This was my first time in Belem and had somewhat high expectations of finding some more GFEs, much like in Manaus.

Stayed (for 4 days) at the Grao Para (R$50 or R$70 for a double), which turned out to be a really great hotel only about 1 block away from the Hilton (1 block away going against the one-way traffic). And it was a GF hotel. Very clean, very quite, a great café de manha and 3-english movie channels, very nice accommodations. Not sure why anyone would pay R$4000-200/day at the Hilton? To get to this area in Centro, I took the bus from the airport to the hotel. Just take virtually any bus going to Av. Pres. Vargas/Pca. Republica. The bus stop is located just outside the airport front doors and to the left. Just ask or follow the locals at the airport.

Market Place and Docas (Docks) -
Both are located in the same area. It is about a 10 min walk from the Gao Para/Hilton hotels. I thought Belem (Centro, Docas, Campina) was fairly safe to walk around during the day and at night. Along the Docas are a bunch of outdoor/indoor restaurants and cafes. I did see some girls that looked GP (due to the fact they were giving me the eye) and thought I saw several gringo looking dudes sitting with a couple of GPs, but never really got up the nerve to investigate further, may due to the fact I thought docas was a bit too family oriented for my tastes and none of the GPs looked good enough to warrant an investigation.

On the other side of the more well-to-do restaurants/cafes (separated by a iron fence), is the market place. Here is where the poor class tend to party. The market place (24hrs) is hoping during the day, as it houses as sells everything from fruit and fish to furniture. At night the bars in the market place remain open and will go just about all night. It can be a fun area to hang out, have a drink, chit-chat-a-bit and check out the local scene.

Across the road from the market place you can find a number of bars/strip clubs (about 3 or 4 running along opposite the market place/docas). Some look like a holes in the wall, literally and the women are of very poor quality. I checked several days and those days found 2 women worth doing. The better looking girls will tend to go to a boite called “B” with a neon "B" hanging overhead. R$3 entrance and its a real dive. Some of the smells were worst than some I've experienced in the streets. What with the smell of body odor, body sweat and [CodeWord140], it was quite an aromatic bombardment of the senses. The strip shows are no great either! However, neither of these women would do BBBJ and soon found out, hardly any of the women did BBBJ (what the fuck?) Very wired. Found out they do have rooms next door or on the premises or take-out (to your hotel). Girls were asking R$30-50 for 1hour and sometimes less.

Up the road (back towards Av. Pres. Vargas, on the same side as the "B" boite) are several other drinking bars with gals and one other boite/bar. I checked them out and they are real hell holes. Basically low-end type establishments. Gals wanted R$20-30 one hour. Nothing really worth considering, but it makes for interesting entertainment.

    Locomotive –
All I can say is that the place itself is done well, good layout and design and the service was good. The girls however I didn’t find that interesting, just OK. They wanted R$150-250 (with R$20 bar fine and/or just fuck on the premises with the hotel next door). All-in- all just boring for me! Not the type of place I enjoy, because management has their hands in you pockets, in everything you do with the GPs. Once I’ve paid the house to enter (and drinks) I’d rather not pay any more (to the house) than I need to. To me the house is like the government, always wanting more once they get that taste of free money (for doing nothing) and then introduce all kinds of services charges and taxes on top of bill. Anyway I thought it was a decent enough (and cheap enough place) to hang out with the boys for a while. Shows are not anything great, but worth watching! Entrance R$4 and food and drinks are reasonable. About a $15-20 taxi ride from Centro.

    Lapino –
Located in the barro called Condo (1 or 2 blocks from Pompilho), was closed on a Monday when I also went to check it out. I don’t think it was closed for good, but couldn’t get a straight answer from anyone. As reported here at WSG, Lapino is fairly similar to Locomotive.

    Forro Clubs –
1.Checked out Aporotoa (on a Thursday night) and it was OK, R$7 entrance. Located near Locomotive (about 6 blocks). Girl were not great, and the crowd seem to be the brat-pack of Belem.
    2. Sala de Rebeco, R$8 (Friday, did not go in, didn’t think the gals entering were very stunning or good looking).
    3. Pompilho, R$7 (Condo [Barro, neighborhood], Mondays is best and OK on Fridays) was hopping and lots of sexy girls, that I thought was more approachable than other Forro clubs in Belem. Although report in WSG that the girls are very “safarda” (sp?) or at least can be recognized by the “safarda” t-shirts, this was not the case when I was there. Maybe they have discontinued this practice or I was at the wrong club. Either way it was a shame, as I was look forward to some “safarda” sex.
    4. Cazuzas (Sunday), did not get a chance to check this out, but I guess it start like at 1:30pm in the day and goes till about midnight? Wow, Sunday punta at 1:30pm would have been nice.

Note it is best to ask around, as to which club is the open or the best to go, as it varies each day, Much like the Forro clubs in Manaus.

    Taxi -
Very easy to barter with the taxi drivers in Belem. I think most do not get very many fares for the day and were generally receptive to bartering. I got away with R$10 to R$15 to drive me to some far away Forro/Pegody dances, that were sometimes ½ hour or more away.

    Bar do Parque –
This outdoor bar, is located directly across the road from the Hilton. It is nothing special and neither are the GPs that congregate there. For me it was somewhat of a last-stop resort at the end of the night. To add injury to insult, the GPs were asking $150 for 1-2 hours. A couple of times I sat down and had a drink and a chat with the girls, if only to pump them for information/prices. None were worth the asking, so I did not take any.

Any luck with the girls? -
Well no not really! Belem for me wasn’t that great in the girl department. Of all the cities in Brazil, I thought Belem has probably the least prettiest garotas. Not to say that there weren’t beautiful women in Belem, just that there is a shortage of beautiful women. LOL!

I did not try or like (depending on the R$ they were asking) a single girl, from any of the places I visited. It was one of the roughest 4 days in Brazil on this tour.

Well at least on my last night in Belem, a nice soft and cute 18yrs old brunette (by the name Jeanth) saved the day. (I would rate her about a 6 in looks and a 7 with a good friendly attitude). What’s funny is that I met this gal, simply walking down the street (across from Docas) and just said “Ola! Tudo bem?” the rest way easy. We talked a bit, watched movies and had pizza together in my hotel. It was a great way to wind-down after a few days of frustration. I enjoyed several hours of kissing, groping and dick teasing (she doesn’t like BBBJ). Well it was not entirely perfect, for when it came to for me to fuck, she give me the "I'm shy" routine. She had a very nice pussy, but also a very tight pussy, as I did eventually manage to stroke it for several quick minutes (bareback), before she decided it was too dangerous to continue (since I was out of rubbers and just to tired/lazy to get more that night). No money was ever spoken off (just the way I like it) and in the morning I gave her R$50, which she was more than happy to receive.

The next day at 10:30 am, Varig give me the wrong flight schedule and the plane left 1.5 hour earlier. It was Varig’s fault, so they put me up in a Hotel and give me a voucher for breakfast until the next flight at 5:30pm (most airlines would just tell you to “fuck-off and wait”).

Is there a GOD or what? And He is smiling on me? As it turns out the girl from the night before came to see me leave at the airport. So we checked into the hotel and then went to the mall to do some shopping (pickup up a pack of rubbers) and then back to the hotel for some shagging. The sex was OK and I gave her another R$50. Definitely a nice way to end Belem, which was otherwise turning out to be a big disappointment on this tour!

    Rap Up -
Not sure what to make of the gals here in Belem. On the one hand, it hard to find girls who give BBBJs. But on the other hand it would seem the young (18yrs old) girls can be had quite inexpensively. And yet there is definitely a shortage of beautiful women in this city.

As my friend would say, “…maybe it just got hit with the ugly stick”…well maybe? If there is one good thing I can say about the city, is that is cleaner then a lot of other cities in Brazil, not too mention one of the best valued R$50 (or lower) hotels, I have ever stayed in.

Yeah! I would give Belem a second try, but wouldn't go out of my way to go back. Hopefully it gets better, as I enjoyed my stay, however it doesn’t justify the long way to go for mongering and chasing pussy.

    Docas

    Guys

It's been five years since I haven't been to Belem and think about coming back on a next Brasilian trip.

Docas was then the strip of regular cafes and bars along the av Suza Franco : does the action moved in the new "Docas" on the waterfront, any particular bar or disco that anyone could recommand ?

Is Locomotivo The Alternative to Lapinha, and anyone heard about a bar named Latina, in the little alleys behind the Hilton ?

Thanks in advance for any response.

    Docas and Ver do Peso

Be aware that there are two places called "docas" in Belem. One is at the end of Presidente Vargas on the waterfront next to Ver O Peso, very upscale and modern. The other is called docas because it's along an old canal... the taxi drivers will help you get there. It's about five minutes from Av. Presidente Vargas.

Ver do Peso market: someone said it wasn't what the guide book led him to believe. True. The old Ver do Peso was a ramshackle warren of stalls, really bad shape. They refurbished the whole thing a few years ago and now it's a lot nicer... less picturesque, maybe.

Just got here, but I remember the Locomotivo as being one great place and plan to go there shortly.

    Goettel,

Thanks for the report. I agree that non pros are easy to find in Belem. Semi pros as well, although I also think that some of the pros at Docas were incredibly striking, inexpensive and really gave great service. Its a completely different experience than Rio or Sao Paulo (still my favorite), but lots of fun if one is adventurous.

As for the Hilton- the first time I stayed there, they gave me the Presidential suite for $95 US. I complained about the price the next time, after learning that my friend got a suite for 200 BR- at that time about $65 US. They gave me the suite and the discount. In other words, they will bargain at the Hilton.

Since then, I always call them for reservations and insist on an executive suite for 200BR. The Hilton is really nicely located. Even if most of the girls in the park across the street are skanks, there are always one or two who are worth getting a BBBJ/CIM for 100 BR when you are really horny and MUST have someone quick!

Have now been in Belém for almost a month and it is quite a nice and calm city to stay in. Not much mongering to do here, though. SW's are ugly as hell and I only know of a few clubs, but never visited any of them. There are some ads in the 'Classificados' of the news-paper 'O Liberal' for anyone who wants to try that way of finding anyone. But there really is no need for it as non-pro's are available everywhere and are not as hard to get as in Rio or São Paulo. Have been with a beautiful 18 year old girl for almost all the month and had a great time and great sex.

Concerning the safety in the city I was a bit worried, but there is really nothing to be worried about. The city is way much safer than Rio and SP and in any case safer than Manaus. Can recommend the Hotel Equatorial in Braz de Aguiar for its nice rooms and pool, which is almost as good as the Hilton and a lot cheaper. About bringing in different girls to the rooms I don't know, but the motel's are in any case so cheap that there s no problem in finding a spot for the action.

I would recomend you guys hire a taxi by the day.

Does not cost much more then a rental car and 100 times safer, especially if you get a taxi that always stays at a certain place, like in front of a hotel.

I would guess that R$ 150 per day plus gas might rent you a taxi (no, not in Rio or Sao Paulo, but in Belem or Fortaleza).

Normally that is 8-12 hours, but if you travel with the taxi and pay his food and lodging, you should be able to get a good deal.

Just ask a bunch of taxi drivers. Make sure you test him first, if the car has brakes and he does not drive like a maniac.

It took me days to figure a route out of the city by rental car to be able to get down to BR10 and into the Amazon jungle proper. Eventually I made it all the way down to Moju, and stayed on a dirt road in a hotel called Dos ViaJantes, for four bucks a night. It was a fabulous time.

went back to belem for a friday night, got a suite at the hilton for $200 br. it was a long negotiation, but the rooms are huge and the only ones in the hotel that don't have a musky odor.

first off, called my cab driver robson (pronounced hobson) for a lift to the china cafe. it seems that it has gone out of business (i think it never existed).

the taxi cab drivers (and the working girls) also know of lots of independents who can only be contacted one at a time by cell phone. you basically tell them what you are interested in and they will try and find the girl that matches your description. my man robson suggested that he go pick up a girl for me, and if i didn't like her, he would pick up another and another until i found one that i liked. the only cost to me would be his taxi meter, which i would not pay if i did not find anyone i wanted. i told him that if i didn't have any luck cruising the docas, i would call him later that evening.

took a stroll to the north portion of the park by the hilton. no action whatsoever. maybe i was too early, as it was just a little before 6 pm. there is a casa on the way down to docas from the hliton on the av pres vargas on the left side of the street. it looked a bit too dangerous for me, although it was still early and i suspect that i would have been ok. there were lots of girls sitting on the curb, but they literally looked like they belonged in the gutter in which they were sitting. word is that there are some really great looking ones inside, as well as **** girls, drugs, etc. probably best to explore this place with a friend, preferably one who is very large. keep in mind that going to a brazilian jail for ****philia or drug possession is probably tantamount to a death sentence for a gringo.

robson gave me a few phone numbers of girls whom i never saw, like amanda the hot morena , really thin with great breasts who loves sex. pm me if you want the number. robson was very impressed with her, although he has never had sex with her himself. robson's number is 8815 1944, and he is both honest and friendly. his english is nearly non existent, but he can communicate if you are patient.

picked up a dark skinned beauty at docas named rachel. she and a friend wanted to do a dupla (the friend was also quite pretty), but the hilton doesn't let girls in without ids, and the friend had some id issue. she was clearly over 18 (while rachel looked 17, but had an id to prove that she was a few months short of 19). rachel wanted $100br for a programa, and agreed to stay the night for free. it seems that $100br is standard in belem for a few hours, and that for another $50br, you can have a night. rachel stayed with me from 6 pm until i had to leave for the airport at 6 am. i gave her $200 in total. again, i am happy to provide her number to anyone who wants it. she speaks no english.

rachel seems to have worked the docas for the last couple of years, but was not hardened in any way whatsoever. she did seem to know all of the working girls there, so we strolled through the docas and she pointed them out. the key to figuring out who is working and who is a "regular girl" (many of whom are available, incidentally) is that the regular girls have food and drink at their tables. the working girls do not, and hence are often asked to leave the various restaurants and stroll. rachel offered to set me up with a variety of friends, including a lesbian couple, but time did not permit.

in summary, my friday night in belem was very informative. there are lots of beautiful girls available, but getting to them requires a bit of effort. there is no karlas or ciaplus here, but if you chat up the girls at docas, you are very likely to get free or nearly free action (i am nearly 50, and never was that pretty to begin with, so trust me, anyone can succeed here). a cab dirver or a working girl can be of great health. one final warning, at all costs, do not take home a girl from the bar do parque. not only do they look like they all have the virus, but the ones i talked with were truly hard core. the types that copme up to your room, try andlift our wallet and then still all of the little botels of black label from your minibar.

Was in Belem last week. It was a Monday night, and Docas was pretty empty. Locomotiva, the only boite in a "decent " neighborhood, is closed on Mondays.

Found myself a nice lady at Docas who had been working as a pro for three months. She did BBBJTC and straight sex for $100 BR (and I sensed she thought she had a pretty good deal). Later that night, I waled up and down Docas. There were clearly more than a handful of potentially available girls, but they were all with men twice their age. Went home at midnight, and ran into a girl who started chatting with me, at first mistaking me for someone else. A "regular" girl in the parlance of this board. Pretty enough at the age of 28, thin but with a real need for some toning work. We ended up going back to the Hilton and she spent the night. Her performance was both real and pretty good.

Incidentally, I tried going to th Northern corner of the park by the Hilton, as recommended. There were, during the course of the night, two girls looking for a "programa". They were decent looking enough, although for some reason, I did not care to take them up on their offers. At one point, a gorgeous girl came up to me while I was chatting with the two hookers: short miniskirt, doll face, tight body. She offered me her services, but since she looked young, I asked her age. It was 17, so I refused. She then called over a friend from the other side of the street whom she said was 18. The friend, who was tall with a bright red miniskirt, was obviously a he, and then I realized that the first "girl" was a 17 yo boy. Yes, Belem has its share of transvestites too! And they appear to hang out at the northern end of the park. As this is supposed to be a great place to find good looking students on the weekends, I wouldn't avoid the area, but do beware.

All my Brazilian friends tell me Belem has lots of great girls. The ones I have met have a good attitude, but its a lot harder for a stranger to figure out the scene than it would be in Rio or Sao Paulo. If you do not speak Portuguese, you will need to find a friend who does. I suspect that if you put in the effort, you will get lots of cheap and fun action.

It isn’t that Belem is that much more dangerous than Rio or Sao Paulo, but rather that it is in a different category, in a different world, if you will.

The central streets from mid-day on are thronged with bustling, milling crowds of people, many of them very, very poor, all jostling hither and thro, packed on the sidewalks, pushing and shoving and everyone bathing in their own personal bath of streaming sweat pouring down their bodies.

There is an intensity to the equatorial sun that I have not found elsewhere. Then, almost as a blessing or a benediction, there washes across the city a jungle rain with raindrops the size of your thumb and it provides a prayed for relief.

Later, it gets darker than Sao Paulo or Rio, there aren’t as many streetlights and the alleys are dark and foreboding indeed. There is a palatable sense of danger in Belem with the approaching night. Maybe it is a factor from the ever present danger from nature in Belem, not that nature in the Amazon basin is out to hurt you, but it is forced upon you to realize and understand that Nature is Big, that it is Real, that it is probably entirely indifferent to you and your self-consuming concerns.

I was staying initially in the Hotel Biera Rio and so had to drive the entire waterfront every day to get downtown. This was an experience. All of my feelings about Belem may be a factor of my own paranoia. I do travel alone and with several thousand dollars worth of cameras on my back. So maybe I have a reason to be extra careful, extra watchful.

Please understand that I really liked Belem, I liked the irony of the trash fires burning hotly in the streets in the middle of a boiling hot day. The smells of raw sewage mixed with the aromas of faijaos and beef and strong perfumes wafting off of cheap but pretty women.

Belem is an experience, and I would expect to be back there in December. If you have the time, do go out to the Hotel Biera Rio, walk out onto the pier and maybe like me you can rent a boat, and a big boat at that, for about $17 dollars a half day. Buy some beers for the crew and go see the real Amazon. What you can do in Belem is sometimes amazing.

But you specifically asked about danger. Sigh. When I arrived I met a Danish guy just returning who was badly robbed in Praca de Republica. When I was last there before then, a German was murdered in the alley, road, street, whatever you want to call it just behind Av Presidente Vargas. This trip I found myself by accident forced to drive down this alley at night, and I was so spooked, I almost ran over people in my hast to get out of there.

My Portuguese is horrendously terrible, and so I am sure that you will fare much better than I. But I caution again, while Belem is a must visit city, don’t ever get over confidant. Stay on your toes.
And just what do you do when you are assaulted by a holy man covered in filth and he tries to beat you with his staff and, unless restrained, you were going to stab him with a diving knife? Like Jake in Chinatown, none of it seems to matter in the cooking, fetid heat of Belem. A beggar all covered in sores latches onto your leg when your are trying to get money from the kiosk in front of the Hilton late at night and he is oozing and slobbering on you, clutching you and crying, what do you do? Forget it Jake, it’s just Belem.

But then there are the magical moments when you see a pretty young woman mid-day strolling down Presidente Vargas, completely naked, stopping here and there to look at this colorful item of clothing or that hanging from the outdoor booths that line that busy thoroughfare, and nobody took a second look. Just another completely naked woman shopping for value, looking for clothes.

    It’s just Belem.

(I'd attach a photo or two, but this is only my second post, maybe in time I'll learn, but I should be off to Romania soon, that also should be different.)

    Be Good Out There,

I found Manaus to be a little more rough than Belem -- though actually less poor. A bit paradoxical, I know. Some of the interior clubs in Belem (away from the river) are in what're basically favelas (but most of the poor Brasilian cities are basically favela-ish anyway). You should be fine if you're smart.

    Happy Hunting,
