Bitchmaps suggests there are mid-range establishments. Svassi is very pricey. Guiaricus is like a sprawling, re-housed Vila Mimosa. But many of the girls that charge 1R a minute will offer a phone number and hotel meet-up. The range of girls is considerable. Some in that area make VM look positively upmarket. But, like VM, it occasionally includes respectable, attractive and reasonably intelligent young women. I've met both decent service and integrity. Sometimes the care with which they maintain their room is a clue.

Belo has much to offer. If money is no object I can imagine people having a great time at the likes of Sagitarius. But to make a trip there with that end in mind??

I was in Belo Horizonte on Monday night and asked the taxi driver which are the best clubs. He indicated that New Sagitarius and Sayonara were okay, so I went to NS first.

It was very upmarket and I was given the brief by this gorgeous thing that spoke english.

It is BRL50 to get in 200 to take a girl(barfine) and whatever you and the girl agree on assume 400(min), for the quality of the establishment. I was doing a rough calculation and lets say you spend 100 at least on drinks I was already over USD400. I decided not to stay but this place is worth a look if you feel like a splurge. If the barfine had not been so steep I would have stayed!

Once outside I was confronted by a taxi driver wanting 25 to take me home. I pointed out that it had cost me less than 10 to get there but he kept on with the 25. I walked 50 metres up the street and got one for the right price!

This guy took me to Sayonara where it was more in my price line 50 cover 45, I think, barfine and negotiated 200(all night) for the chick. But it was late ish and I assume the best of the pickings had already departed.

Not sure about Cristal but I would think it would be similar to Sayonara.

I am surprised that no one has even commented on the rates here, forget the bar fine, I think 400 for the girl is way too steep as well as 100 for the drinks?

$400 dollar US is quite expensive for the experience, to make the journey whorth while needs to be much less than half that!

Should we assume from your question that you like the upmarket experience rather than the down and dirty? If I was staying just one night and wanted to do the Sagitarius -type thing, I'd probably look for a hotel in that area to save the hassle of getting back into the centre.

One the other hand, if you want the unique mucky-pup shag-on-a-slab experience that is almost uniquely Belo, just hang out in the concrete buildings of Rua Guiacurus and thereabouts. After they shut down in the early hours, there are still stragglers and even dodgier looking holes of delicious hell towards the bus station. See how many you can get through.

Quite apart from pussy of course, Belo is great for regular nightlife, upmarket shopping, playing chess, wandering through the gardens and museums, or just feeling slightly 'European.' A beautiful city.

So, I can say that I m quite good expert of Brazil, I visited this country 8 times and can make some coclusions. The most beautiful girls are in Sao Paulo, the clubs and restaurants are luxirious and nice like in Moscow. The easiet girls are in the north: Fortaleza, Natal. The best brothels are in Rio, I mean termas. Nice parties are in Floripa in January, now I want to check Belo Horizonte, heard that here the population of women is two times more than of men, it means it has to be easier with the girs. I m 27 years old, don t be afraid of anything, I was grown up in the most criminal area in Moscow, like Bronxs, so I don t have fear at all. But if you say that they are very religious, it is not good for me, I remember my trip to Columbia, the girls were very difficult because are very catholic.

It's one of the nth myth concerning Brasil. And it's pure BS. What would be the reason for this? ... there's not more girls in BH than anywhere else!!!. And if there are very definitely gems to be found, the roads are not lines with them .. personally I even find Minas women rather average. The ratio of really smokin girls is not that great. Belo H is definitely not hot-babe Eldorado. Goias is better in that respect. Anyway if your standarts (as one can suppose from your username) are "Moscow standarts", you will be very very disappointed in Brasil.

Keep also in mind that Minas is undoubtedly the most conservative state in Brasil, and girls behave accordingly. Contrarily to your city of reference, wild and liberal women are not a commodity in Belo H. FYI, Minas has the largest born-again xtian evangelist population of the country, with some 35% of the population being part of the Evangelical community.

Also beware of the "brawling culture" in Minas (which is even stronger in Goias BTW). I have witnessed many a fight in Savassi area (that is why in every big club, there is not only a good dozen of official bouncers, but also some unofficial undercover bouncers, who can beat the hell out of people without the club's owner being processed and sued). In some clubs there's so much fights that it is literally grotesque. Another fact is that Mineiros being usually not really cosmopolitan - to say the least - and extremely nationalists (as most brasilians), there's a pretty ample anti-gringo distrust feeling in Minas, that can sometimes even be blatant hostility.

Travelling to Brasilian "redneck" Centro-Oeste states has its advantages (low costs, good music, girls prettier than in Nordeste, no Dickie Does gringo mongers, enjoyable country & western atmosphere, nice old mining historic towns, beautiful countryside, ect), but undoubtedly also its inconveniences.

Errrmmm . . . well he didn't say he was middle aged. Not everyone on here is and if you want to visit non-monger clubs and bars with young people you probably know you are pushing it if your age looks way out of place. For mongering, the high(er) lol end is more in Svassi as opposed to the (very) low end around Guaricus. I like Svassi for the shops but the other place for dispensing genetic material lol. But as I said, Belo is easy to navigate. Anyone checking it out would find out these things in a day or two at most.

Belo is a very easy city to navigate. You won't need help. The city centre is full of normal bars and night life, and then there is the high end upscale stuff out in Svassi, a short trip from the centre.

"high end upscale stuff? " what's that? There are clubs, bars in Savassi, not quite Leblon. Full of young kids, though, don't know what they'd think of a mid-aged sex tourist appearing in their midst. Hotels in that area of town fill up on weekends, be sure to get a reservation early if you want to stay in Savassi.

Belo is a very easy city to navigate - you won't need help. The city centre is full of normal bars and night life, and then there is the high end upscale stuff out in Svassi, a short trip from the centre.

I found an apartment in Pampulha. It's alittle out of the way, but it's also quiet.
I've spent several months there, but I'm not an expert yet!

I'll be buying a car, and getting to see more areas.

Any idea where you are doing to live? Which part of town I mean. I think BH is a VERY livable city.
