I stayed out on the edge of centro of floripa. I should have stayed in centro. I used airbnb. I should have been more selective in my lodging, but that is ok. Floripa is really terrific. There is more to life than sex (a necessary but not sufficient condition for happiness? And floripa and POA have it all over RJ.

Spent another weekend in Floripa. Went with my business assoiates (their request) to Bokarra again. Better mix of guys / girls this time than my post below (last visit was during a convention I guess). There were maybe 3-4 doable girls tops. So for third time I arrived in Floripa October 1st and stayed there for 3 weeks.

Lets speak first for free hunting.

1) the situation was different from past two times I visited Floripa (2010-2011)

In most of the Beiramar cervezerias and cafes, and also cervezeria original and chop brahma in continente the number of men was more than the number of girls (I mean they were many Brazilians singles or in teams of 2-3 men looking for girls) so it was impossible to pick up a girl.

The only place that was available for free hunting was the Scuna bar (right under the old bridge) only Fridays and Saturdays nights with entrance of 25 reais for men, there was also many men inside looking for a free target but there was a possibility to pick up a girl

2) in the issue for paying for sex there was a new house near the center (rua general bittencourt 149) just behind Centro Sul Hotel on Hercillio Luzz Praca (www.docevenenohot.com.br) , there were around 10 girls for price 80 reais for half hour and 130 reais for one hour.

The place is working only week days from 10 am to 12 midnight.

spent a few days in floripa. went to bokarra. it's hard to find on google maps, as google maps it incorrectly. it's next to the imperial hospital de caridade (on menino deus) , a little short street that goes up a big hill to the hospital. google shows it about 5 mins by winding streets away. not good. fyi if you do find bokarra, the other club like it, sexy, is just up the main street. i heard some people say sexy is better, more girls.

bokarrah is like a small version of scandalo in sao paulo. it looks like a strip club. and inside it is full of hot, silicone, stripping, water-covered, oiled up chicks. well, at least on the video they show on their monitors. we were there on a thursday night which is a mistake. according to the locals, you go tues / weds, and make plans with a girl you like for her to visit you friday or the weekend. it's closed weekends like centro termas in rio. and many girls bail on friday.

driving around floripa you see billboards for bokarra. like for the spearmint rhino in la. that should tell you something.

avoid this place unless you like blowing wads of cash instead of blowing your wad.

About 5 minutes walk from central market of Florianopolis is a road called Rua de Roma padre, or name something similar to that. In this road there are a few sleazy down to earth bars. One is called Tatiana. There I paid 50 reals to the girl for 30 minutes and then 20 for the room, a total of 70 rls and the rooms are upstairs in the bar. There are a few other bars around this area with the same sort of set up.

The girls aren't beauties. But I prefer that. They are more natural and sleazy. Near the Roma padre street are discos like Il Rouge, designed for tourists, where you will pay 40 reals to enter and then another 40 to talk to a girl and then a couple of hundred or so to go with the girl.

So for me a bar with rooms upstairs for about 70, is a much better deal.

If you need dressed up girls in a theatrical contrived disco atmosphere, then you have too pay a huge premium.

This was exactly my experience and your report nailed Floripa correctly. Also, Bokkara is a complete rip-off. Don't even bother going in for a look.

The women in this town are quite attractive due largely to their northern Europe heritage, however, they have a Newport Beach attitude.

Part 2 – Florianopolis (See Porto Allegre section for part 1 of my Brazil Report)

I traveled from Porto Allegre to Florianopolis by bus. I traveled by day. The trip took eight hours and was very enjoyable and relaxing. I used this bus line:

I arrived in Florianopolis during low season, though I hadn't planned it that way. The weather was actually a little cooler than I imagined it would be.

The girls were on the high-end of the quality spectrum. I had already paid 100 BRZ to enter and then I realize how expensive the drinks were. Many drink prices were hovering around 100 BRZ and if you approached a girl she would say "drink?" or "drink for me?" The next day I walk around the town. Florianopolis is like a Brazilian Bay Watch. There are surfers and Barbie looking girls and GQ looking guys waking around. The place is very commercial and it looks like the rich come here to party. It is also had the feeling of being a very safe town.

The second evening I tried to strike up conversation with a few girls in cafes and on the street to no avail. Florinopolis reminded me of some upscale place one might find in California, for example Laguna Beach or Newport Beach. Florianopolis is definitely not my kind of place; too upscale, too commercial, too perfect, and too expensive. I won't enjoy my time with a girl if the cost is too high, even if she is perfect.

I gave up on the girl scene and enjoyed the natural beauty of the place which was fantastic. You don't have to spend any money to enjoy the nature here. The nature along the seashore was by far the best thing in Florianopolis.
