I was in Manaus 3/26, and a trip upstairs at Remulos was 60R.

It is high time I contributed to this fine institution that as given me so much.

5 friends and I recently went on a fishing trip in the Amazon which was a wonderful experience. We booked the trip though an outfit in Jersey ( PM me for details ) who did a wonderful job. But this is not the World Fishing guide.

We arrived very early (about 1am) on Saturday 2/10 from Miami in Manaus. We were picked up and taken to the Tropical Hotel Manaus. We were scheduled to take a 6am Float Plane into the jungle but we had rooms if we wanted to sleep. We all decided to hang out at the bar. There was a band of 3 "ladies" who were working the room. Only one looked passable. Eventually, they made it to our group and started working on us. They were rather entertaining but there was neither time nor opportunity. But these ladies will figure in later in this tale. I did see two other ladies in the bar area who looked much batter but I was too tired to even consider any action along those lines.

We left after a few hours and were taken to the airport. The week of fishing was wonderful. We were going for Peacock Bass and there was plenty of them and just being in the Amazon was a great experience. But I digress.

We returned to Manaus on Saturday Morning 2/17. I had previously arranged with our tour-dude to have someone take us around on the evenings of 2/17 and 2/18. We did what little tourist things there are in Manaus and we all when to dinner. After dinner Joseph met us and and took 3 of us out on the town.

The first place we went to was KISS. It was a strip club with about 15 ladies. There was only one other group of patrons and about 5 or 6 of the ladies were chatting with them. The place was clean (it had the cleanest bathroom in the city! ) and well appointed.

At this point I should give you a few details about my self. I lived in Asia for about 5 years and I have done all the things one would expect of a single white male living in that part of the world. I have since moved back to New York where the scene for this type of activity is as dead a Communism.

We had a few drinks and I decided to shoot pool with my friend. A word of warning to people planning to go to Manaus and shoot pool. They have the HARDEST pool tables in the world. Anyway a game that would normally take 5 minutes took 20. My reason for doing this was to get a better look at the talent available. This did work out and I saw this lovely lady. As a matter of fact they were all very attractive. Natasha (the lovely lady in question) spoke no English but did speak a bit of Japanese. Go figure. Having lived in Japan for a year I was able to chat a bit and negotiate a private "dance" in the back. The "dance" consisted of a shower followed by a CBJ and multiple position fuck with a lot of DFK. This all for the non-bargain price of 250 real. My friend took a shine to this other lady who looked very much like Penelope Cruz and also had a "dance" for the same price. While were were in the back the 3rd person in our group was being attacked by 3 very nice ladies. Upon leaving the back I decided it was time to head out and see more of the town. This met with some disapproval from the 3rd person in our party but I was on a mission.

The next stop was Remulos. It seems that Joseph (our driver) was some sort of a part-owner of this establishment. If Biblical city of Sodom and Gamorrah really existed I think it would have been similar to Remulos. Ostensibly it is the same type of place as KISS a strip club with rooms in the back but the similarities end there. To put it bluntly, Remulos is filthy and not for the faint of heart. And I am from NYC. But it is filthy in a charming and exciting kinda way. The strippers all come out to this hard hitting Brazilian Hip-Hop and there dancing is more like an Olympic floor routine then a striptease. The pole at the end of the dance floor must be set in reinforced cement to handle the stresses that the dancers put on it. After they have disrobed most of the ladies allow the patrons nearest the bar to pretty much molest them. As I was taking this all in a young lady started dancing on our table. She was what we call Butter Face (great body but her face). After there dance I needed to use the bathroom. The bathroom defies description (and I have been to Africa 3 times). Upon my return I learned that the 3rd person in our merry band took the girl who was dancing upstairs. This bother me because I wanted to go to another place and get a lady for the night. We waited for what seemed hours with no sign of our comrade. I had Joseph send word that we had to go. Still no return. Finally, I had Joseph take me up stairs (which looked much cleaner than the bar/dance area) and I banged on the door and yelled at him to go. Sadly, that was the last banging I would do that night. When he returned and we left I was informed that it was too late and all the other clubs were closed. To say my friend and I were disappointed would be a vast understatement.

Upon returning to the Tropical. We had a drink at the bar and the same 3 ladies were there. In my desperate state I decided to act. I saw the best looking one of the group go to the bathroom near the reception desk and I waited for her to come out. When she did I showed here my key with the room number and told her to come to my room. She said OK. I proceeded to my room and waited. I got a call about 30 minutes later that she would be there soon (there were big language/communication issues). In 15 minutes there was a knock at the door. To my dismay it was the ugly leader of the pack and not the one with whom I had spoke. I told her to get lost. She said she had to use the bathroom which I let her use. After which she told me I had to pay her the "Hotel-Fee". At which point I threw her out and closed the door. A bit later the phone rang and the leader-***** want to come to my room and I told her I wanted the other girl. She then told me that she went to another Hotel. I said then said good night and hung up. You would think that this was would be then end of this little saga. But she called 2x more and I have to admit I was beginning to weaken but I still said no. Finally at 3: 45am the phone rang for the last time and it was the other girl and she wanted to come to my room but I said no and left the phone off the hook.

I awoke Sunday morning understandably cranky. It seems my friend had made plans with one the ladies from KISS (not Penelope Cruz) to visit him at the Hotel. There is a reason why he has several advanced degrees and I have none. She arrived about 11am and she looked lovely. I noticed our man Joseph in the lobby and put in a request for "one of those" as I pointed to the recently arrived young lady. He said he would see what he could do. He made a few calls and came back to me and said a nice girl would be here in 45 minute. I went to my room showered and cleaned up the place (am I the only guy who does this before a ***** arrives? ).

Nayana was right on time and did not disappoint (on any level). I tried to take her to my room w/o paying the "hotel-fee" but the security Nazi appeared out of nowhere. I was billed 125 Real to have her registered. The only positive this that came of it was that I was able to see here DOB on her ID card. She was 21. I am 41, perfect. I took here to my room after I paid 30 real for her taxi. She stayed until 5pm and earned her keep. I gave here $100US and 120 Real for 5 hours of intense frustration relief. She was very sweet and about 2 decades ago I might have fallen for her.

My friend, his girl and I went to an Italian place for dinner. The food and wine kinda sucked but when it was over we all went on a walk about the town which was hopping since Carnival was starting. We then walked to Remulos. It was a Sunday night and I was informed that it was the only place open. It was not quite as intense as it had been the night before. I guess they were observing the Sabbath. We had a few beers. I just want to mention that there seems to be some sort of coupon system when you drink he beer there. I never tried to sort it out but I might be of interest to those of you traveling on a budget. As luck would have it my friends girl new one of the free-lancers that were in attendance (it turns out she also worked at KISS). Marrissa and I tried to chat but sadly we did not share a common language (other them the language of lust and money). We all went back to the Tropical and after another 125 Real Marrissa and I headed to my room. We had a very nice time and she left after 2 sessions to see to her son (or so she told me).

The next morning I was on a flight back to Miami. It is a cold winter night here and my Brazil experience is over but I re-lived while I writing this.

looking at spending 8 - 9 nights in Brazil somewhere other than Rio or SP or Salvador...travelling from US and would love to hit a spot like Manaus or Fortaleza...are both doable in 9 nights...or would it be better to simply chill in one place for the duration...I love regular spots and non-pros, but I also want to be able to pull a GP whenever and whereever!

About 40 girls working, including freelancers.
Quality=at least 50% doable, some are really stunning.
This is my favourite place in Manaus. Great atmosphere, nice girls and low prices.

* Close to the port, next to the Banco do Brasil there are two side-treets with lots of bars and strip-clubs. Several of them only work during daytime. Some strip-joints are very small with only a tiny stage, a small bar and a couple of girls. Others are places almost as big as Remulos. All these places are sleazy lowend places. Among all the ugly girls there are some gems to be found.
Bar Holanda is a good place for a afternoon beer. Meet the locals.
Some of the stripclubs that works at nighttime:
* Aquarella: Big place. Tabledances.
* Mistura Fina: Big place. Tabledances.
* Natureza: Small place. Very nice atmosphere. The strippers comes down to the stage through the roof on a pole.
None of them charge a entrance fee.
Beer=R$ 3,5 (600 ml)
Girl=R$ 20-25
Room=R$ 6-8

* Streetwalkers: Check out the bars in Centro. Praca Militar, Praca do Indio etc.

* Non-pro´s: Manaus is unbeatable for non-pro action. Very easy to meet regular girls.
Head to the forró-clubs: Ladeira do Forró, Simbola, Companhia do Forró, Planeta Talismã, Meu Xodô, Balnearios, Forró do Marquinho and many many more.

Copanhia do Forro was certainly an experience. There were an incredible number of girls (and men, although there were more girls than men). They began around age 13, were mostly 18-24 but there were even some older ladies there. I should think some caution is necessary should men think about taking home a younger lady- I would check the ID first.

I actualy failed to connect with anyone. Since the volume of the music was so loud, and my accent is a strong american accent that some find hard to understand, it was hard to talk with the girls. Being on the other side of 50, this made things tough since I usually win over the young ladies through my conversational skills, lacking a Schwarznegger-like physique. But, in the right mood I probably would have hung out until I had met a lady. I did get approached by a few girls, but they were not to my liking. I left around 1 am, and the garotas de programa had not yet arrived.

I decided to check out a boite called "Kild's". Its near the airport and my taxi driver said it has the best looking girls in Manaus. The entry is 40 reals, and covers the cost of a room for an hour. The guy at the front door will actually tell you it covers a 20 minute massage, although I don't think anyone would ever go there for a message. I was assigned a garota at the door as a kind of guide; there were not that many free girls when I arrived (this changed rapidly), and I ultimately gave her 10 reals to get me another girl (thus assuring that she would go away). Drinks are expensive: Johnny Black was 28 reals and my girl ordered water: 6 reals.

The girls were varied in size and looks. Most were nearly pretty, but not quite. I am not certain what number you would give them. There were a few thin girls, one of whom had a pleasant face. We negotiated for a long time. I typically like to negotiate for 30 seconds or less, because prolonged negotiations usually result in poor performance. This girl simply didn't know what she wanted to do- my hotel, one of the rooms on site, 150 reals vs 100 reals, etc. She kept changing her mind. In the end, we decided to use on of the rooms on the premises.

The room was horrible. As a kid, I once took a tour of a county jail, and the room reminded me of one of the inmates cells: small hard bed on the floor, toilet without a seat, cold running water shower, all in the same room. There was no towel but there was a terry clothe robe.

The message was not bad, but the sex was perfunctory. She feigned interest rather poorly, breaking into "gostosa gostosa" and "fodeme, fodeme" way to quickly. She only wanted to go doggy (I think she was simply too tired to do anything else). Charge was 100 reals for an hour. Total cost for two hours of my time: 40 entry, 28 scotch, 6 water, 100 girl, 55 taxi (includes both directions) = 229 reals.

I do not recommend this place. Will give Remolus a try.

Btw, what are the vaccin requirements for the Amazon region? I already did the malaria and yellow fever about a year ago prior to my visit. Would I need to take those shots again or do they last for a while?

Unless you are going for a longer period down Rio Solimões you will not need any vaccin or malaria prophylaxis.

I have a "normal" girlfriend here whom I met walking around town a few months back. She and I had sex four times in my first 12 hours here, so I am not certain Companhia de Forro has much to offer me, but I intend to give it a try anyway.

Caboclo was the name of the rubber tappers in the Amazon. They still use the name for people living in the jungle. Caboclo/cabocla is often a mixture of white and indian.

Forest, don't miss a visit to Remulos. It's like going to Paris and not visit the Eiffel Tower. Even if you don't like it I assure you will not find anything equal in Brasil. Very extreme.

Also, don't miss Companhia de Forró. So many cute girls that your head will spinn. Even if you go there with your GF you will have great fun. Other options should be Ladeira do Forró (ex Club do Forró), Simbola, Planeta Talismã and many more.

I am not that good on races, since I do not even know what a Cabocia is. However, the skin tones range from dark latin-ish to light latin-ish. Its not Salvador nor the south. As I mostly was interested in non pros, I can tell you that there are plenty of true beauties, even more girls who would be considered by most to be very pretty. I can't say I pay too much attentio to the ugly ones. But certainly, opportunities abound.

Everything is a bit cheaper here than Rio, but not quite as cheap as Porto Velho or other truly "off the beaten path" destinations. I am staying at the Mercure apart hotel: a nice double bed, a kitchen and living room. 120 reals on the weekend, 200 reals weekdays. Like all Mercure hotels, internet access is included in the price. And, it has a very good restaurant where I had outstanding fish on a bed of risotto today (quite a surprise to say the least).

I have not yet taken in any of the dance places. But, from what I have seen so far, Sperto is spot on about this place. I don't like strip joints (he is fond of them), so I will skip Remulus. I agree that this is not Rio or Sao Paulo style mongering. There are streetwalkers everywhere, and Remulus, so one never has to worry about not getting laid, but there is no Centaurius, Bahamas or even Help here. The extreme ends of mongering are well covered (the 30 reals fuck and the free fuck), but the in between and high end stuff is lacking.

i have some pics of the ponta negra beach area. these photos were taken during the dry season, the brazilian summer: dec-jan. when i visited in late feb the beach was under water. the bar/restaurants here. get packed on weekend nights. it's a distance from Manaus centro.

In Manaus you'll find lots of morenas and caboclas. Not that many whites or blacks. There is a big mixture with indian blood. I just love the look of the women in Manaus.

+ Prices of hotel, restaurants, sex etc are lower than Rio or Sao Paulo.
+ Manaus is great for mongering.
+ Manaus is excellent for non-proaction.
+ Several day-time clubs on weekends. You go there for swimming, eating, dancing, getting drunk and laid.
+/- The beach Ponta Negra is not very nice as a beach, but good for hunting.
- Going to different forró clubs means long taxi-rides.
- Difficult to find nice restaurants in Centro that's open in the evening.

Manaus is one of my favourite-cities, but I think the average Rio-monger might feel a bit lost in Manaus and just longing to get back to Copacabana.

Its called Laranjinha (its mentioned all over this board), and its a worthless dive with a terrible stage show. Many of the hookers are the same group I saw working the street corners in Centro but there were a handful of girls who clearly only worked the Ponta Negra area, some of whom were very pretty.

I never liked Laranjinha.
I prefer an early visit at Remulos, the paradise of the Amazon, and afterwards a go at the regular girls at the forró-clubs.
