Its called Laranjinha (its mentioned all over this board), and its a worthless dive with a terrible stage show. Many of the hookers are the same group I saw working the street corners in Centro but there were a handful of girls who clearly only worked the Ponta Negra area, some of whom were very pretty.

The hookers at Ponta Negra represent an easy fall back if you fail to score with a regular girl. There seemed to be plenty of non pros available as well, but I had been planning to go dancing and wanted to pick up a girl later on. It was a mistake since everything closed for the election, so I pick a willing garota and went back to my hotel.

Overall, my impression of Manaus was that lots of girls were interested in hooking up. Even my waitress at lunch was flirting with me. And, the girl I will see this weekend asked me to bring a friend for her girlfriend! It has me wondering about a romantic threesome...

I have been back from Manaus for more than a month now, but did not write anything, because I got ill on the plane ride home and was unable to post.

I was only there for a day (and it was election day, meaning everything closed at 11 pm), but I left with a wonderful impression of the city's possibilities.

I took a long walk through the city in the afternoon and met a beautiful blond 20 yo who did pedicure and manuicure. She was thin for a Brazilian: I would guess she is 32/22/32 with a completely innocent face and thick lips. Of course, I agreed to the 6 real charge for my pedicure, and over the course of an hour chatted her up. She had a boyfriend, couldn't spend the night with me then, but promised to be the love of my life when I return. I have had a few phone conversations with her since, and will be seeing her in 4 days.

After leaving this beauty, I met at least two other girls interested in spending some time with me. However, I had become impatient, and needed a sure thing so I went out to the Ponte Negra.

I love Sao Paulo and Rio, but these more innocent settings appeal to me far more. I am quite certain the blond will be fucking me almost my entire time in Manaus. Except, of course, when I have my "business meetings" at which time I will slip off to a motel with a pro. I think anyone who goes to Manaus and speaks a little Portuguese will be impressed by the opportunities. Especially if they are into non-pros.

Taj Mahal is in a great location. Nothing wrong with the neighbourhood.

I had a chance to spend some serious time in Manuaus and agree that the Taj Mahal is a good place for home base. I found plenty of willing cuties in the vicinity of the Taj. Incredibly, I found the waitresses in the restaurant across the street more than willing to help teach me portuguese and Brazilian carnal culture.

Av Getúlio Vargas is one of the major avenidas in Manaus. Lots of shops, restaurants, icecream-parlors, internet-cafés etc. Outside the hotel you have buses to all parts of Manaus.

Two blocks away you have Teatro Amazonas and lots of nice bars and restaurants. Pleasant area for strolling, flirting and always something happening in the evening.

Four blocks away you have Remulos strip-club (and 2 more strip-clubs).

5 minutes walk from your hotel you have the commercial district with lots of shops, banks and nice sights.

Taj Mahal is in a bad neighborhood. You should go to Parthenon, last I checked, they don't charge for you to bring girls there.

Last April I spent a few nights in the Taj Mahal Continental on Av. Getulio Vargas, 741, Centro. 95R/night, incl. Asked for a room towards the top (near the rooftop pool - good late afternoon and evening respite and you can take your drinks up there) and in the back (quiet, view). When checking in I asked about guest policy (I was paying for a double). Desk mgr. smiled and said OK but to be "modest" about it (he meant, she should not dress like a ho). Fair enough.

The first night I did the "club" scene. Pretty pathetic. These were ho's of the worst order, and looked it (it was a Monday and then a Thursday night). Back at the hotel I took the doorman aside (it was about 2330-0000) and asked him waht he could do. "Nao problemo," and he offered to have 3 come up and I could take my pick (reminded me of my experience in Salvado and in Fortaleza). 30 minutres later 3 girls appeared - 2 were most doable and the other one would do in a pinch. Picked one of the really doables and she did just fine. All 3 were in early 20's and were primarily of indigeneous heritage. This was new to me. We had a fine time - she knew her stuff, and while the BJ was not quite my style (she was "off to the races") she took my counsel and "help" and slowed down and used her tongue rather than her hand to augment her Electrolux-like mouth. 90R for 2 hours and a couple of pops (she wanted 125R for all night - price was OK but I didn't want that). Plus 10R taxi. A few nights later I asked the doorman for 2 loira - two girls showed up, 1 blonde and one indigeneous. The loira was not doable. The indigeneous girl was really cute so I chose her. 2+H=100. She was OK - bubbly personality but not so skilled. But, I got my nut (X2) and she got hers, so all was well. She liked the completo part - I got a little worried about my neighbors - Japanese businessment, apparently.

Oh yes: I tipped the doorman 25R up front and another 20 before I left. All that might work for you.

Interesting area, worth far ore time than I allotted. I rode the ferries up Rio Negro for 3 nights: Great. (Buy a hammock). Ditto down to Belem. 4 days and a fabulous experience. Buy a couple of bottles of cachaca and take them along - you'll have lots of friends and company. Mongering was probably possible on the boat to Belem with locals and a few German tourist girls, but I drank too much and didn't want the hassle of "finding the right place" on a very public ferry. Anyway, by then I was saving my seed for Fortaleza lovelies. While in the Amazon try the caldereida (sp?) - a fish stew with the local fish. Really good - I'd suggest you bring you own knife and spoon.

All in all Manaus is not primo for mongering, but it was OK. One probably doesn't go there for that (I didn't) but it makes the nights more interesting.
I ate in the little joints along the streets (off the tourist and main drags) and the beer was cold, the fish was GREAT, and the locals friendly.

I'll be going to brasil next month for the first time. I will spend about a week in rio in an apartment and then I would like to go to manaus for few days.

can you guys suggest a nice place to stay in manaus? I'm looking for something not too expensive (in the region of 50-60 dollars at night) and of course girl friendly.
Is manaus a good place to explore the amazon jungle or is there a better place?

I went with a Brazilian pal one year - its great, we hired a small plane which have a bad safety rep or you can go by boat three days fro Manaus. Once there - it was very easy to pick up freebies (esp with a brazilian wingwan) we picked up a couple of cuties fom manaus and told them we were leaving (this was all outside the main arena where they have the real spectacles) and they came back to manaus on the plane the day before they were planning to with us and spent the night with us -= the plane was maybe 100 dollars my pal paid nothing - I gave 50 r as a "tip" to my girl - both girls kept turnng up to our hotel on following days but being cads we didnt fancy doing them again.

But I wld def go back to parentins - its a gas.

I worked in Manaus on and off for a few years now and have been reading some of the threads below. I'd just help you guys out with a few additional facts / corrections.

The Port Area - working girls actually only hang out around here when a cruise ship full of tourists is in town(usually every few weeks or so).

Crocodilos - normally this club only opens on a Sunday night and is essentially a gay club since A2 closed its doors on that night. When cruise ships are in town they open up and you tend to get 20-30 working girls in there , the majority of the clientel are Filipino crewmen from the ship.

P4P - Kiss , Kilds. A few years back these places were cool, then the Chinese arrived in droves. Like Member 4042 said, the prices(R$400) here are now crazy, mainly due to the Chinese who get exited at any sight of flesh, pay silly money and add a new meaning to the phrase "gone in 60 seconds". The girls in those place have gone big time hard core due to the money and quick turnaround.

Non-pro action(LOL). This bit really makes me laugh. You see there are a group of working girls(spend a month here and you'll know them all) that circulate Laranjinha/forros/porto/crocodilos depending on the day/time. Now some tourist(whose been in town 36 hours) finds one of these girls and thinks "wow" , this chicks talking to me, I've "scored", when infact she's a ***** but working in a non-pro enviroment. No money is asked up front, but once you paid the drinks, taxis and a "little" present you've gone over and above what you paid anyway. Then the next day she sticks like glue, won't go away so you can enjoy the "view" etc if you get how I mean. Another tactic doing the rounds is the tampon trick. You meet said girl in club/etc, you buy drinks. Later your new "GF" suggests that she stay the night with you as its a long way up to Cidade Nova blah blah. You arrive back at the hotel, but once you get in the room and the pants go down/skirt goes up there is a gigantic press on towel hanging out either side of the panties. Thats the red light, no sex tonight. Remember , this if a GF, so you can't just beg a BJ. You wake the next morning, off for dinner at the shopping center(new shoes) etc. She got your money, you didn't get laid. Watch out for one girl call Jackeline, she will use this tampon BS story, then go through your stuff when you're sleeping. She sometimes uses 2 guys to find her tourists (one short fat, another who claims to be Colombian), avoid these guys.

A simple way to filter these idiots is just ask the girl "what do you do? where do you work". If she hasn't got a job, or doesn't need to be somewhere tomorrow then chances are she's just another ***** trying it on. Usually, when you ask them questions of this type, the bad ones stories fall apart rapidly. You can score NP's there (like anywhere in Brazil) but sex is unusual on the first night, you'll need to see her a second or maybe third time for that.

Many of the girls there have really bad teeth, try and check her out in good light. I can never forget this girl I took, when I saw her in the morning I noticed some of her front teeth were broken.

Also check the girls ID's , the cops raid the cheap hotels from time to time. A few months back some German guy was busted there(didn't pay the cops the bribe)and paraded on local TV.

And finally, a really funny story. A lot of the people there eat from those shitty churrasco stands in the street, however the meat can be old/not cooked properly. Many people there carry worm loads. A friend of mine had good experience of this when he picked some chick up at a forro. He was getting ready for the doggie back at the hotel and went down on her from behind, when he pulled back he noticed all these white little thread worms wriggling around her ring piece! We never stopped laughing at him!

I've been using these guys for 4+ years and they are rarely beat. My ticket for March 13th is going for $689 plus a $40 service fee so a total $729. I missed it at $649+$40 or $689 total from US west coast. They favor Continental but recently started selling "Q" class economy fares which only grant 50% elite mileage credit, bummer. The old tickets were "Y" and you recieved full elite credit. Anyway, sometimes their quotes are high so just be patient and check back regularly, they will drop. It seems the price gets better closer to your departure (??)......

Regarding Carnaval I was in Rio. Which was insane, crazy, and lot's of chicas. They tried to raise the prices, but they seemed to forget that it was a monger's market. So there would be no extra cash in it. Anyway wrong board for this. But I'm not a big fan of Rio.

Getting back to Manaus, my ship will not be going back, but I'm obsessed in getting back. Since I do not fly into Brazil much the air passes will not help me, and I can't find airfare for under USD $1,000. Does anybody know the cheapest way to get to Manaus from the States (Mia)? Seems like i can save a couple hundered flying into Iquitos, then taking a boat there. But that takes too much time.

I would love to get back to some of the smaller towns along the river, cause there your a King.

One more thing, for anybody who is thinking about going to Manaus, do it. The Indian mixes there are something, the girls are just stunning, warm, and love Sex. Just stay away from the tourist traps. It's so easy to score there for free.

Try checking on LAB (LLOYD) Bolivian Air Lines which goes from Miami to Manaus, last time I went to Manaus I paid $777.00 in 03 and got to
Manaus at 0240. Very good service and takes about 4 or 5 hours.

Octatron, I think the BAP is probably still your best bet, providing you get a cheap flight from Miami to RJ or Sao Paulo. In total you may still pay about US$1000, but you'll have four (4) or more cities to tryout.

Take some time and try Belem, Sao Luis and/or many other northern cities and really test that adventurer's spirit!
