Prelude

My GOL flight from Congonhas airport in São Paulo was delayed for over 2 hours, which meant I arrived in Porto Alegre early evening instead of late afternoon.

Since the Mercure hotels in São Paulo were girl-friendly, I figured the same would apply to the Porto Alegre branches, so I’d made reservations at the Mercure Manhattan. My 2 room apartment looked exactly like the Internet pictures and would provide a photogenic background... provided I could find some willing models.

When our bellies were bulging, we caught a free ride to La Barca – the place to be in Porto Alegre, judging by the Internet pictures. The 60 BRL cover charge bought us an ice bucket filled with 5 beers. As soon as the waiter delivered our nectar, we wandered away from our table and started mingling...

Eduarda

My favorite girl from the Internet site was Paola Gobi. When I thought I recognized Paola, I went up to talk to her. But when I asked the girl’s name, it turned out to be Eduarda Martins.

This exotic beauty looked way better in real life than in her pictures, welcomed me with an enchanting smile and seemed really pleased that I picked her. The next garota I approached was another gorgeous blonde. Could she be the hot-blooded Brasileira I was hoping to meet? Nope! Eduarda was yet another ice queen with $$$ signs in her eyes.

I tried to get with a few more girls, but even a simple smile was hard to come by. I’d sit down close to a girl and she’d move away from me. I just returned from first time in Brasil. What a great, great country. Loved the people, the food, the attitude - everything but the 'transito paulistano'!

I only saw POA for 2 days and it was all work. But it truly has some of the most beautiful women I've seen in anywhere in the world. I will definitely be returning sometime in the next 3-6 months and will plan more free time in POA.

I can also help you with some basic portuguese.

And, no, no one here speaks swahili. Where that came from? People that speak german or italian are more limited to academic areas or more to the countryside, where there is the habit of speaking the language of our immigrants. In the capital, however, you may find some people that speak french, not as a second language, but as a consequece of many french courses exhistant here.

Hope I can be of some assistance. I can also say the right prices charged for locals so you won't get (so) ripped of. We have a local forum, in portuguese, that has lots and lots of information that I can translate for you guys.

I visited POA last week for two nights. Called Club Carmen, but was quoted 400. 500 Real per hour for outcall to my hotel. No way.

First night I went out to a Disco called Dado Beer. This was in a shopping mall area. Had great fun dancing and drinking.communicating was a little difficult (I know very little Port.). Did not land any at this club.

I was staying at the Sheraton. Directly across the street from the entrance is a side road. Just up the road, approximately 2-3 blocks, there is an Pub (Dance Club) on the right. The next night I went here. Awesome band that played everything from Sting, Rolling Stones, U2. Great time. The only problems I had were drunk Brazilians trying to have conversations with me in English. It would have been alright, but they were guys. Beautiful women here, but again I did not find many ladies that spoke any English.

I decided to check the privates on Avenida Benjamin Constant, number 729 & 1363, recommended below. I came to 1363 first. Selection of about 10 girls ranging from 4 to 7. 5 on my scale. Prices were 60R/ 30min. For one girl or 120R/ 30min. For two girls.

After reading reports on Porto Alegre, comments like, this town is not pay for play, prices were quoted 150 reais, I went there last wednes day 8th of November, checked in to hotel TUR for 25$/night, across from bus terminal, bus fare from Buenos Aires is 240 peso one way in coche cama, takes 18 hours, you need visa to go to Brazil.

Looked in the news paper, forget about Garuta Azul, club Carmen, where the admission is 50 reais, they give you 5 beers for that then you negotiate with the girl, price easily jumps to 150 reais or more depending on your negotiating skills, knowledge of portuguese.

Any way to make a long story short I found two places on Avenida Benjamin Constant, number 729 & 1363, first place has 8 girls, I recommend Maeste, 50 reais for half hour, second place has 14 girls 70 reais for hour, I recommend Danielle. I stayed 1 night had 5 different girls from these 2 places, got on the bus & came home happy.

La Barca isn't exactly new, as the first TD on GP Guia is dated over a year ago. But it is at the top of my to-do-list for my upcoming visit to POA (May 22 - May 24). If that vision of loveliness from the Gobi desert doesn't turn out to be a fata morgana, I will devour her.

It's called La barca and from what I read in brazilian forums and what I saw in their web site the talent is unbelievable!!!!!!

Visited POA for six weeks in 2004, so everything might have changed completely by now; but back then Carmen was a new club with the best chicks in town.

Entry R$50 will get you 5 beers, then prices depend on negotiation skills. Had an hour sex with a gorgeous Brazilian version of Angelina Jolie for R$150 after long bargaining process. Was worth every R$!

Second visit, she wasn't there. Ratio of girls / blokes was poor; no stunners and lots of attitude. Two separate visits, completely opposite impression...

Street action along Avenida Farrapos, where most clubs are located. Finding a hotel room for about R$13/hr is easy. Chicks R$30-40. Some will rip you off and demand more money after 5 minutes. Best if you stick to clubs.

Some inexpensive clubs in the city (centro). My favourite was Le Boheme (formerly La Maison Bar). Atmosphere was the best. Low key, but friendly girls, lots of laughs, cheap alcohol. No English spoken, though.

Cover charge: $Nil. Drinks: R$4 per beer, R$6 per martini for the girl. That's US$1-2!

Heard about it from a local mate that never visited there; and decided to check it out.

Different model: R$80 entry, 4 drinks included, and also... sex. If you see the girl of your dreams there (or just a girl you fancy), you can have her. No additional cost!

Didn't end up doing sex as wasn't attracted to anyone but the receptionist (who didn't want to have sex :-( ), but loved the experience.

There is an Internet room and some other corners of pleasure, but don’t want to spoil your fun. Go and check it out. At the worst case scenario, you’ve lost R$80. Worth taking the chance.

Sorry, mates- no address. Just ask taxi drivers. Pronounced SOFASAON. It should be about $10 from Centro. I had a taxi driver who didn’t know where it was and we drove around the whole city.
