I decided to try Sampa again Wednesday January 2. On the way there, the cabbie asked me if I knew of Ninfas. I had not yet been. The cabbie claimed it was much better than Sampa. So I told him that I would like to check out Sampa first and that if I did not like it then he could take me to Ninfas. Arrived at Sampa shortly before 11pm. The doorman scanned me with a hand-held metal detector and then gave me a card with a bar code on it. Inside it was very dark. The club was separated into two areas by a low stage in the middle with a stripper pole. There were perhaps a dozen people hanging out in the back part of the club, which was set up like a restaurant. Four girls were sitting on a sofa in the very back. They seemed overweight to me. I did not see any girls that I found attractive, so I exited in hopes of better luck at Ninfas. The doorman wished me a good night and did not attempt to charge me any fees.

Outside, I met up with the cabbie again and asked him to take me to Ninfas. On the way, he told me that it might still be too early in the week and that girls might still be on vacation. He said it gets better on Friday and Saturday nights. The cabbie seemed to be knowledgeable about clubs, so I asked him about Chakatak which I had seen mentioned in this forum. He had not heard of it. It would be located very close to his taxi stand, which is on Rua Barão de Souza Leão, so I presume that Chakatak no longer exists.

We arrived at Ninfas shortly after 11pm. I walked in and sat down at a table by the outdoor swimming pool. There were 7 or 8 girls and a few guys there. I attempted to order whiskey, and was directed to the front where I had to pay a cover of R$25 to obtain an invoice. Since it was difficult to get a good look at the girls while they were sitting down, my strategy was to sit at my table and wait for them to get up to use the restroom which was located on the other side of the pool. This way, I was able to get a good look at each girl as she walked around the pool. They all seemed overweight to me and very much out of shape. Several girls came over to my table and greeted me with a kiss on each cheek, but did not find any to be attractive. After nearly an hour and a half, the mosquitoes had really chewed up my knees and elbows. No new girls had arrived during that time. I left at about 12:30am. The glass of Teachers whiskey was R$12.

The following morning Thursday January 3, I decided to try my luck at the beach. The weather was sunny and very hot, so I donned my big gringo sun hat and started working my way north from Rua Barão de Souza Leão at about 9:45pm. The only potential GDP that I saw was a very thick girl who (I think) whistled at me just north of Souza Leão. I spent a fair amount of time at the kiosk in front of Ed Castelinho (with the little castle and the tall twin towers) and at the kiosk in front of Golden Tulip Recife Palace, both of which I had seen mentioned on this forum as good for meeting GDPs. However, I did not see any other foreigners nor did I see any sign of GDPs while hanging out at these kiosks. There were quite a few people under sun umbrellas at the beach, but the kiosks were comparatively empty. I got as far north as Rua Antônio Falcão but did not see any action.

On my way back, I stopped by Rua Petrolina 81, which I had seen mentioned on this forum as Esthetic Relax. However, the sign above 81 now clearly says "Pousada Praia de Boa Viagem". Also, I had been unable to access the website for Esthetic Relax earlier, so I presume that the place no longer exists. Someone can correct me if I am mistaken.

After lunch, I decided to try the Rua General Luis Mallet 266, which I had seen mentioned on this forum as being a little terma and which I later found out is called Casa Blanca. After some difficulty ascertaining the name of the street, I found a gate in a white wall running along the street with the number 266 clearly visible. I pressed the buzzer button. A girl opened the gate and showed me inside. Passing through a garden, we entered the house through a gate that had a beautiful pet parrot climbing around on it. The house was very clean and well kept. I was invited to sit on a sofa near the foot of the stairs while the girls got ready. After a few minutes about 6 girls came down the stairs in succession, greeting me with a kiss on each cheek and exiting to a room on the left. After showering, I entered the room which I found to be clean and spacious and well furnished with air conditioning. The sound of chickens could be heard through the window. Unfortunately, the sex was not very good. Gabi turned out to be extremely loose. Afterwards, I went downstairs and got small bottle of Skol from the cooler. Gabi came down and chatted with me for a while while I drank the beer. Upon exiting, I was charged R$8 for the Skol.

As a side note, I discovered that you can get a good exchange rate for dollars at "BLV Rent A Car" Rua Barão de Souza Leão 195. The office is located in the same building as the Boa Viagem Beach Flat condos. Yesterday I got R$2, 04 per dollar with no fees, which was within a fraction of a penny of the spot rate. By comparison, the Europa Exchange across the street in the square quoted me R$1, 96 per dollar with a transaction fee of R$10.

Arrived in Recife about a week and a half ago on a vacation of four weeks. Fifth time in Brazil; first time in Recife. Renting an apartment in Boa Viagem on Rua Barao de Souza Leao near the beach.

Shortly after arriving, I made my way to Sampa. It was either Saturday or Sunday night, I don't remember which. Got there about 10:00pm, but the place was totally dead. As I was leaving, I learned from the doorman that the girls generally do not start arriving until after 11:00pm.

Outside, I noticed a few girls across the street from the club on Avenida Conselheiro Aguiar. I purchased a can of beer at a nearby shop and sat down at a table on the sidewalk to observe. They were soliciting passing motorists. I had never picked up a street walker before, but one of them caught my eye. So I just walked up to her and introduced myself.

Her street name was Ananka (yes, with a "k") and she was a native of Pernambuco. She wanted R$100 for one hour. Said she would do anything except anal. Demanded payment up front. I tried to negotiate payment to occur afterwards, but to no avail. Not having any other option readily available, I decided to take a chance and gave her the money.

She took me across the street again to a cabbie waiting outside the club. The cabbie wanted R$10 to take us to my place on Souza Leoa. Although slightly more than a street taxi, it was much more reasonable than the $R30+ taxis that I had encountered outside of clubs in other Brazilian cities. So we got in the cab. At my building, we had to register her. She produced her papers and the door boy wrote down her information in a log. After that, we went up to my apartment.

I was pleased to find that she had a tight little body with good tan lines and a few light tatoos. However, when I asked for a massage, she said it would cost an extra R$50. This seemed a little bit like an upsell to me, but being in a good mood I agreed. (As it turns out, the massage was not worth the R$50. She would never pass for a masseuse.) After the massage, things got better. We proceeded to covered blow job and then sex in the missionary position.

Overall, it was a good experience. Companionship was pleasant and sex was good. No entry fee, no bar fine, no over-priced drinks, no outrageous taxi fares, no hotel / motel fee. I have done a lot worse on other occasions. At the end of the night, she gave me her number and I ended up seeing her again several days later.

I went back to Sampa on Sunday night (Dec 30) at about midnight, but it was closed. No street action outside either. I guess they already shut down until the new year. Walked up and down Aguiar and Ferreiros in the south part of Boa Viagem. Saw a few pockets of street walkers but nothing that I found attractive.

Met veteran mongerer here about a week ago. He tells me that the scene in Recife is nothing like it was fifteen years ago. Apparently, there used to be bars all along the beach with swarms of GDPs. They have now been replaced by high-rise condos, he says. Bamboo is gone. According to him, the price of land has become too expensive to support anything but luxury condos.

With this being my first visit to Recife, I cannot verify if he is right or wrong. But I have spent some time over the last week and a half patrolling south Boa Viagem and I haven't seen much in the way of good action. Bamboo is in fact gone. Looking for better luck in the new year.

I was almost new in mongering in Recife. The experience was not pleasant. Bad luck with weather, the town was very sad and rainy. last november, i paid 12 reais for a beer there, as they claimed to only carry a premium wheat and malt weiss beer, at least they bothered to inform me the price of the beer prior to delivering it to the table. but yes, the atmosphere there was a little somber for me and i suspected there might have been an **** garota working the place with a cop across the street waiting for someone to bite the bait. the most interesting thing about there is that there were severall german tourist couples staying at the hotel on the upper floors and i comented to my travel buddy, if they only knew what type of business went on there, and he comented that they might be staying there for that very reason.

the only action in town that we partook of, was at casablanca, which took us most of the day to locate as the streets are not laid out in a normal grid pattern and many end up in a dead end and the locals were not the least helpfull in giving acurate information on getting there. it is located in a house with a tall white wall and a gate with a buzzer, in a middle class residential area of houses, near the end of the street. the manager/part owner, a fake blond, ex working girl, was pleasant but very bussiness like. after explaining the prices, she proceded to set up a lineup, one garota at a time. 80 reais for a session on a massage table and 12o reais for a session in a room, with an entrance/consumption fee of 20 reais. the bar area is in the back of the house and there is an area outside with a few tables and chairs. we picked our garota, then payment was requested up front and we went to our rooms to session. after we finished, i noticed the german owner/financeer roaming around and he did not look like a very pleasant person and kept yelling at her in german. but the garotas were ok, considering that was all that was available around there, but i wouldn't repeat and it sure was great to return to rio!

Funny as after 6 years seems nothing changed in Recife.

I was there stucked 3 weeks in march 2003, even then the owner was a german, some nights it got crowded, but only very ugly girls.

I got a apt in the same street of bamboo, a bit more towards bom preco market, if still exist, in the same direction there was the second night club, sampa if I remember correctly, some nice girls, but very expensive.

Not far from bamboo a brazilian guy showed me in a buildings with many shops, a sort of little shopping center, obviously not shopping recife , a floor that was a sort of massage center where I got a massage and HJ and surely half the price I paid went to the guy showed me the place.

From Bamboo towards praja de boa viagem some bars with hookers, but always the kind of....or you are drunk or forget to be able to fuck one of them.

I thought it is all what Brazil can offers and that's why for 6 years never went back....luckily this year I tried Rio and now I know the meaning of word saudade LOOOL

The street is on the hotel map I was given, and I was able to walk to it from the beach without much trouble. The neighborhood is a little sketchy, but nobody seemed to be threatening towards me.

It is a corner building with a red address sign on, or near, the door, nothing else. Once they let you in, which might take 1-2 minutes, a nice courtyard is revealed with some Christmas lighting. Inside the building, the first stop is a reception area where they will do a presentation. When I was there, 6-8 girls were available, all 5-7.5's, with a mean age of 23 and nobody older-looking than 25.

After the presentation, the very hot receptionist explained the price structure:

Wilfrid Russel Shorto, which is a tiny east/west street 1 block north of the relatively main street Bruno Veloso.

Started at the beach in front of recife palace. Wasn't sure what to expect, but if garotas de programma gather there, then I'm a blind man.

"Gather" may be a strong use of words. I saw maybe 20-30 mixed among 500+ people walking on the sidewalk or hanging out on or near the beach. Even then, I should caution that I am an optimist and find any shred of evidence enough to tag a girl as working.

Moved on to his legit massage suggestion (A Flor da Pele). Found it without a problem (big sign) but somewhat sketchy. Theres a car rental place and a bodega on the first floor, but th steps to the second floor were locked and there was no bell.

You can ask the people that work below to point it out. You actually go to the left side of the front-facing business, then turn right into the stair well. It wasn't locked when I was there, but it did have a lockable gate, I think.

I'm going a couple of times this month and will scout further.
