Posts: 678In the past, I have recommended the HOTEL ATLĀNTICO COPACABANA as a good place, at a decent price...that is girl friendly. A friend tells me that they are now charging R200 per night for a single, regardless of the amount of stay (he was tring for 7 days).
I think that based on the location, quality and the size of the room, they have priced themselves out of the market....maybe Brasil is genaerally going in this direction....as it did in 1994?
There are still remaining better venues however.

Does anyone know anything about the Martinique Copa Hotel?
Is it visitor friendly?
Good location?
The reviews I've read on tripadvisor.com are amazing...and, so is the price at $85 per night. Its also a brand new property having opened less than two years ago.
Any advice would be appreciated.

It seems they have a large choice of apartments, mainly in Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon.

Thanks to a post by a fellow member RonnyRon, this visit I got a great apartment from www.copaapartments.com. Fair prices, great service and if you contact the owner, Dieine, and mention that ET referred you, they will even pick you up at the airport for free.
Dieine has been very generous with her time and in helping me to understand the real Rio. She has a lot of Brazilian friends everywhere so you get a totally different perspective from that offered by the Gringos who live here.

I stayed there 5 mos. ago and was there for all the renovations. Lots of noise, no pool, etc. I had negotiated a rate of 255BRL per night for an ocean viev and king bed.
They will now only go as low as 310BRL. Anybody know of a better deal in Ipanema?

The Rio Roiss charges extra unless you book a double room. At least that was the policy as of march 05.

Can anyone recommend a fairly good hotel with a good beach view? I don't mind paying a little extra and girl friendly is not necssary.
I generaly stay at Atlanico Copa but for my next trip I'd like to stay on the beach , for at least a couple of days anyway.
Thanks

Posts: 157Anyone In Rio Next Weekend...
I was wondering if there were mongers heading down to Rio the end of next week. It is not only my first trip to Rio, but also my first solo mongering trip. I'm a frequent flyer to the Pink Palace in San Jose CR but I'm looking for a change and I have the FF miles to go for free. First of all if anyone wants to meet up for drinks definitely PM me. I'm 31 years old, not unattractive, and like to party. I'm hoping I can find some Rio experienced mongers to show me the sights of Rio(I'll buy the drinks!!) This is my last mongering trip for the next year as I just took a new job Feb.1st and I don't get vacation for the 1st year so I'm going all out. Also I'm looking for a hotel somewhere by the beach in the center of the action that is reasonably priced. Most of all they must be girl friendly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'll be in town from Jan. 20th to 29th.
Thanks

Can anyone confirm that the Rio Rioss hotel and Aproador Inn Hotel are girl friendly. That is, there is no extra charge to bring garotas into your room...one at a time of course. Do you have to book the room as a double occupancy before hand..? Your help in clarifying this is appreciated.
Thanks

TJ fannatic,
My first trio to rio I stayed a the cal. othon for 3 days because I wanted a hotel with a balcony overlooking copa beach. I regretted it for 2 reasons
1) the place is definitely not girl-friendly. The sign at the desk says "say no to sexual tourism" . I could not get a girl in via bribery, sneakery or an offer to pay a guest fee.
2) if the dictionary had the term run-down in it, there would be a picture of a room from the hotel. Everything worked, but the furniture, linens, fixtures all seemed many years old & everything was cracked, chipped, ripped, etc.
And the breakfast was terrible also-I would not stay there again no matter what the price.
