But you need to have this conversation with the agent.

Obviously, I'd have to pay 2-3 security guards, but that would be far better than the alternative. It's a great apartment, I just don't want to have that conversation with the agent, nor do I want to find out upon arrival that it's essentially not guest-friendly.

It's a two-story penthouse, so I am not worried about noise, and we wouldn't be throwing parties, per se. Maybe inviting 3-4 girls over after the beach or sneaking in late night after going out.

    Cheers!
I understand your reluctance, but you need to ask the agency exactly what they mean. Tell them you have friends in Rio, and you'd like to quietly entertain them in your PH (trust me they will know what you mean). I presume the place is pricey, and it would be a shame if you can't "entertain" guests for your own money. In my experience (not just in Rio), you can't always rely on bribing security.

I stayed in Centro at Novotel RJ Santos Dumont, next door to the IBIS hotel. 7 minute's ride from SDU airport.

The room was nice, very modern, and soundproof. It's a busy hotel. Pricing anywhere from $68 to $90 USD dollars a night. I don't remember about breakfast cause no interest to me. It's a short, easy ride to Whiskeria 4 x4, termas, Rio Branco 185 building, Rio Branco 156 buildings, and Darkroom.

In my opinion, this place is for people like me who highly value peace, quiet, and stage 3 REM sleep after a night of hard drinking partying, and fraking garotas in Duplo sessions.

The Novotel and IBIS there is no nightlife nearby, no views, I had an upper floor, no shops, no beachfront views. Nothing. Centro shuts down tight at night. IBIS / Novotel are away from all the famous tourist stuff. Away from nightlife or beach life. The neighborhood is sparse at night. In my opinion, it's not a vacation hotel spot like Copa.

It is short cheap Uber to SDU for easy flights back and forth to SP. Well not easy, the low budget airlines have crowded buses to the plane, and lugging carry-on, up the jetway to the stairs to the plane in the cold rain is no fun, for the lower priced round trip ticket.

Example: you can take a look at IBIS. There are several Ibis hotels in Rio, 2 to 3 * that cater to a budget traveler and guest friendly.

    How was Sheraton Leblon?

    Hi!

How was Sheraton in Leblon? Was it Girl Friendly? I was wondering if it would be allowed to take a girl to common areas like the pool, etc. I was thinking of booking a room for 2 adults and have a different girl visit daily.

    Thanks.

    Apartment or house in Rio

I am planning to visit Rio for 1st time, I am looking for house or apartment that me and my friends can stay together and have party at night in our place, I have been to Colombia lots of time and had fun with my friends, we always had big house and invited girls and had lots of fun, girls also had fun and they made money too, so I am wondering how things work in Brazil, I see lots of reports in here that guys go to the club and strip club and have fun. Any one have any input on house to rent for party, all the airbnb house are not allowed any parties.

    Centro or Cococabana for lodging

Looking for layed back vibe and best price on fun.

Centro appears to have 3 brothels and Cococabanna only 1. Also interested in combined hotel brother but must be a little up scale (think Hampton inn or better).

    Any suggestions or observations?

Yes, I appreciate the warning. I'm aware, that it's not a good location for mongering. My plan is to get an escort to my room.

Just to confirm: Hyatt does allow guests, but they can't use the common areas like the pool or beach (that's what they said in their email and I didn't try to push it).

The problem with Hyatt is there is nothing near it in walking distance except for a great Argentinian restaurant, not even a grocery shop. But that's what gives it a resort feel, I guess.
